Wot, 3 transfers :) but no sales :(

I wonder what Ed Woodward is going to cook up in his final transfer window as a parting gift. The three amigos again? One last spectacular failure to remember him by.
Isn’t his involvement in transfers very watered down now?

I think it will be John Murtough getting the criticism for every transfer failure now

You could have picked pretty much any other team in the league but you picked one of the few teams who actually have signed someone
Who have they signed? I haven't seen any official announcements?

No one yet. Close to Soumare according to Sky, but nothing signed yet.

I’ve already put pictures of Ed, Joel and John Mortal or whoever he is on the wall in preparation for throwing things, shouting bad language at or generally flicking the Vs etc

I've just accepted at this point that we're going to be scrambling around in the final week of the window to strengthen at least one position. Way better for my sanity to be prepared for yet another long slog transfer window.

We all know that no matter how many years a player is scouted and monitored, clubs only choose their players, based solely on how they perform in a major international tournament. that lasts 2 to 4 weeks.

Looks like another summer looking in Poundland. Still garner dalot and linguad can come back in and be passed off as shrewd additions…..If city get Kane we might as well give them the guard of honour after week 1.

A well run club from the top gets its business done early and efficiently with great foresight. It just feels like the people in charge of our transfers and strategies are currently sat back enjoying the euros. Then the morning after the final, will look at each other and ask, “now what do we need again?”

how many transfers have there been involving PL clubs this far? Must be dozens from these well run clubs.

Who are all these well run clubs that have got their business done already then?

It doesn't really feel like that at all though.

Nobody having their transfer business wrapped up just confirms that we're waiting for the Euros to finish.

Expect a flurry after that.

The CAF really is made up of a bunch of entitlement isn’t it.

Despite hardly anyone signing anyone, because of y’know, the Euros, the CAF still expects Man Utd to have signed someone. At this point I don’t even know if the CAF even cares who it is, they just want the club to sign someone, a shiny new toy. So theg can get a dopamine hit when they get that notification on their phone.

The Euros was mere weeks after the season ended. The window opened during the Euros.

Just have some patience for once.

Please don’t mention Depay nor Donnarumma. It’s easy to transfer to a new club when no money is involved bar wages and agent fees. Both transfers are free transfers…….

I agree in the sense that people are going to point to the Euros / Copa / World Cup etc - and that's obviously why all transfer activity is delayed this summer

But I disagree that it's United's big excuse.

@Sassy Colin has created this magnificent thread 3 years in a row and it's been apt every single summer. @Sassy Colin could create it for the next 5 summers (and I hope he does) and it will be apt every one of those too. United are just extremely slow at this shit.

So go from July 12 after the Euros. Take the 4 biggest clubs in the league. United, city, Chelsea, Liverpool and I have a feeling United will be the last to pull the trigger on any major signings.. again.

We're clearly going to do an Anderson/Nani special and confirm both Sancho/Varane at the same time.

Don’t get your hopes up. From what I hear the Glazers has still not fully grasped how big the difference between European football and American football really is. Apparently they asked Woodward to examine the possibility to move Tom Brady to United as ”their new playmaker” to win the fans back when the ESL failed. This is supposed to be the real reason Woodward finally decided to step down.

They'll be a flurry at United HQ trying to get the fax machine up, a new windows xp system online plus our backup carrier pigeons.

I'm going to have a go at being desperately positive, just to see how that looks.

We're apparently serious about Sancho this time, and are expected to close the deal at around 80m. Simultaneously we seem to be serious about a new top CB too, involving sums north of 50m. And we're looking at RBs, although apparently not with the intention of spending much. Put together that seems to amount to a big, lovely, furry ball of 150 million we might be prepared to spend. Hey everyone, wouldn't that be swell?!

Are you suggesting this is a serious thread by @Sassy Colin and not even a little bit hysteria-baiting?

I think it’s a fun thread. I don’t look more into it than that

It doesn’t really affect my life what United sign or not. But I can’t deny their recruitment has been awful for years now

So Sancho is all but done that one is happening. Varane will possibly come after that then we need perhaps Rice or another DM.

Would take that if that's our incoming Summer business this year. Get rid of some of the ones we all want to be let go and happy days for now.

Pogba can either sign if he wants to stay or use him for Varane if not.

Not sure why we're getting our transfer business done so early... What sort of fresh organised madness is this!?
