World Cup Betting Thread

Well that's me done with the betting at this World Cup fk all has come up for me.I know they say it matters more when theres money on it but I find myself willing players to score first even though they are playin shite willing teams to score when you know the other team deserves it more all in all even though its small stakes I cant relax or enjoy the games.I wish everyone all the best with their bets but self preservation is where its at for me anyway so Im going to enjoy the rest of the tournament bet free.
Same with me. Enjoyed the first few days far more when I wasn't betting on any of the games.

were you on oscar pass accuracy over 73.5% as well then?

everywhere has him as 83%+ except for fifa who somehow came to 73%, what a joke

Yes, had that Oscar-bet together with a nice Cycling match-up (which came through) @5

Checked his passing accuracy during the game on Statszone app, so was relieved when he got subbed with 82%.
Ridiculous that Fifa seem to include crosses and lost possession as misplaced passed. The stats from their official report don't even match their own 'Live Statistics'. Sometimes I doubt if those stats are really a coincidence. It's the same with possession, you see a team controlling the ball for about 5 minutes and their possession gets lower...

Tempted to put money on

Holland -1
Croatia -1

£10 returns £50 on PaddyPower

You english guys are really obsessed with betting arent you? :D

You will always lose more than you win if you play long enough.

That's not true. It's difficult but entirely possible to win in the long term if you are disciplined enough and understand the concept of only betting on 'value'.

Can anyone explain me this Australia +2 thingy?

Called a handicap. For example, if you bet on Australia +2, it means that the match starts off 2-0 to Australia. Therefore, if they lose 2-1 for example, you will still win your bet as you will have a 2 goal advantage at the start.

Slowly getting my head wrong it myself...

For example, if you pick holland tonight as (-1) they need to win by two for you to win your bet. Thats my understanding of it.

But the -1 draw thingy is still confusing me a bit, because I was told it meant handicap draw? For example yesterday I had Belgium as -1 draw and they won 2-1 yet I won that bet! So bit confused by it tbh.

Here's a simple example

Australia 1:3 Netherlands - void
Australia 0:3 Netherlands - loss
Australia 2:3 Netherlands - win

You just add (or sub if you played some -1, -2 etc.) those two goals to final score.

That's for two-way market - meaning you only have options for Australia or Netherlands, not a draw (1 or 2). Usually called asian handicap as well.

In three-way market you also have an option for draw (1, x or 2), and with 1:3 instead of void, you'd loss that one too.

The -1 is Belgium starting with a one goal deficit, so if they win by one goal that deficit is cancelled out and it becomes a draw.

There's not been many yellows so far but Chile are rash and reckless and Spain are going to have to attack them so there's bound to be a couple of yellows here. In the ref's last 10 games he's given 6 red cards and 61 yellows, and since 2012 he's given 57 reds. South American club football is obviously a bit different but Chile tend to epitomise South American aggression and defensive play so a red could easily happen as well if either team get frustrated as the game goes on. Plenty of players in both teams capable of getting a red - Ramos, Costa, Vidal and Medel have all been there a few times and a penalty at either end isn't unlikely in this World Cup.

Red card @ 10/3, Medel to get booked at 2.2 and Diaz to get booked at 3.1.

And if Australia lose 2-0, I lose my bet?

Example of three-way market for handicap betting:

k8RytiD.jpg

Game ends 3:1 for Holland, and the only winning bet is Tie (draw).

Example of two-way markets:

On Australia column, all the best are losing until +2.0.

+2.0 - stake back
+2.0, 2.5 - you get HALF of your stake back, and you win with the other half

Rest - winning

On Netherlands column, all the best are wining until, you guessed it, -2.0.

-2.0 - stake back
-2.0, 2.5 - half of stake back, other is lost

Rest - losing

Hope this helps a bit.

how did you copy that image from b365, is it possible to copy slips too?

I'm surprised you went for that bet yesterday without fully understanding it

Shame it was the only one of the three to come off though :(

I know, guy in work was pissing himself laughing too... Had fair idea anyways, pre match I wasn't too worried weather Belgium would win, but that 1st half performance had me worried a bit!

As you say though, even funnier is that it was the only one that came in!

Yeah I had to miss most of the second half and it was still 1-0 when I left, was surprised to check my phone afterwards and see that result.

After yesterdays other two matches I'm really unsure what to go for today, can see another slip up coming from somewhere.

said it earlier myself, I think it might be in the Croatia match... I think Cameroon are going to sneak a goal in and it'll be 1-1!!
