With Antony signed what’s our front 3?

You're being incredibly naive. Antony is absolutely a dead cert and will be a nailed on starter. You don't buy a managers former player for £80m just to make him sit on the bench

You don't pay a player half a million a week to sit on the bench either. But that's what we will have to do. Fekkin Woodward...

I thought it was telling that Sancho started on the left last game.

Even with the same eleven starting from Liverpool.

That was in preparation for Antony arrival on the right…me thinks!

Ten Hag would have never signed Ronaldo in the first place so it's a moot point

Sancho & Antony for sure. Unfortunately we don't have anyone who has a solid claim to the CF spot. Martial is always injured, Rashford isn't really good at it, and Ronaldo is out of form and might be gone anyway. Our best hope is for Martial to play a lot, and even then there are no guarantees that he'll be consistent.

The club needs a reliable CF but this won't happen this summer. We need a temp solution in the form of a loan or any other cheap option, someone like Aubameyang for example, otherwise we're in trouble.

I think Rashford is fecked anyway.

The amount of people calling for Martial to have a starting spot shocks me. Apparently he now is the answer after all

On paper, he has more quality than Rashford for that spot. Reality is a different story.

Isn't Martial a bit, how do I put this, shit?
Yes. Inconsistent, uninterested….and shit. Hoping we’re going to see the best of him all of a sudden is a level a about-turn I didn’t think even the caf was capable of

When all fit… sancho, martial, Antony. Most likely gonna be though, sancho, rashford/Ronaldo, Antony.

Ahh….if only he’d been playing on paper we’d have done a lot better in recent seasons. The problem is he’s not very good on grass

With everyone fit, I’d expect it to be this to start off:
Sancho - Martial - Antony

But I’d expect this to be reasonably fluid depending on form

CF: When Martial is healthy he is certainly the guy but when he's not available it will be Elanga or Rashford. Which greatly sucks because neither of them have the right game for it. So having a backup CF would be very nice now that Antony is done and especially if Christiano moves on.

RW: Antony locks it down.

LW: open competition. Whoever is in there for any given game is auditioning to hold on to it and it will probably be cycled until someone owns it.

Just need that Arnautovic deal finalised and we're set

On a dutch football forum they’re all laughing that we overpayed a lot. Hopefully they are wrong.

Genuinely not sure what the regular wingers will be. Could be any of the 3 combos between Sancho, Rashford and Antony. Martial obviously the striker.

They're happy they got 100m but not happy Antony is gone. They would've been pissed if they sold him for 60 or 70m. Just because he cost 30m more doesn't mean hes a bad player. He has world class potential without a doubt. If he plays like a 60m player, he's still gonna be a class player so it doesn't matter.

Ah love the ETH criticisms 4 games in because he plays a player you don't like:lol:

Not really a criticism, just something I think I've noticed about him. No idea why he likes Rashford but he has singled him out for specific praise when he's been terrible. I really like EtH and think he's a really good manager, but even SAF had certain players he persisted with when they were awful. It's just one of those weird things. I guess time will tell though.

Isn't Martial a bit, how do I put this, shit?

He's been excellent in pre season and the one game he's played this season against Liverpool.....although that is the problem, one game and he's injured again, so in that sense he is "shit". If he can stay fit, which is a big IF, he definitely isn't shit.

With Martial injured imo it should be Sancho Ronaldo Antony

Rashford is an awful sticker against teams that don't have their defence in the half way line.

Let's be honest, we don't know how good Antony will be in the PL at this point to be deemed an automatic starter.

Also, as poor as Rashford has been for a long time, Sancho hasn't been that much better.

I hate to say this but although Sancho, Martial, Antony is the only one that makes sense, I have a horrible feeling that we're going to try to shoehorn Rashford into any lineup as EtH seems to not notice that he's completely useless.

Depressingly I suspect we'll see Sancho, Rashford, Antony mostly and even Elanga, Rashford, Antony more than the obvious choice.

Wasnt useless against Liverpool...

Antony and Sancho seem obvious choices. All of our strikers are kind of weak and underwhelming for different reasons, I think Ronaldo might wind up the least bad but expect the other two to get more chances at least initially.

Let them laugh. This team is much better with Antony out there and he will leave everything on the pitch. I am relieved that this got done, we badly needed more talent up front.

Yeah.
In theory hes the most natural fit to ten hags system. Rashford is worse and Ronaldo probably requires more adjustment elsewhere which wouldn't be so bad if it was a well oiled machine but not ideal when your trying to set out a system.

There will be no settled front 3. 5 subs means there's plenty of opportunities to rotate and there'll certainly be injuries. We're playing mid-week games now so things will change a lot.

As it stands now, Rashford and Martial are probably ahead of Ronaldo in the pecking order for CF. Sancho and Antony will be dead certain starters on the wings with Rashford and Martial rotating. I wouldn‘t be upset if we signed a CF before the window closes but I think CM is more important.

With all these wingers and creative midfielders on board does this mean we are going to buy a striker before this window closes ?
Serious question.

A confident Rashford offers far more penetration and countering threat than Sancho who offers better link up play and security on the ball. LW is very much up for grabs.

Sancho - Martial - Antony
Rashford can be an impact sub for now, he doesn't deserve to start.

Neither does Sancho. Competition is good.

Though I do have a feeling that Sancho and Martial might work well together.

We are looking at rotating players based on fixtures form and tactics. There won't and shouldn't be a guaranteed starting spot for any of them
You don't pay 100 million euros and have antony on the bench. Has to play

It'll be Antony, Martial, Sancho. problem there is you don't really expect any of those 3 to hit 10+ goals in the league. Hopefully Bruno can get back to scoring for fun now that Ronaldo isn't first choice.

And that's the problem with buying players at a huge price tag. Now he can't sit on the bench if it's necessary without scrutiny.

A more interesting question - as is - is how will a lineup of Sancho - Rashford - Antony work out, if we expect Martial to miss games quite frequently.

How fast is Antony? Faster than Sancho, right?
