With a fully fit squad, what is our best xi according to you?

It's amusing that people give their teams, and it just shows how far off the pack at the top we are. We have very few good players, most are past it or never weres (like Rashy), but who knows hopefully the kids become great because if not this transition is gonna take a while. Just a horrible squad starting at the top with a delusional, arrogant manager who looks worse in the league with every match he plays.
 
The XI pretty much picks itself doesn’t it barring a couple of positions. It’s not we have any depth like City to do.

Yep, it's picked itself over and over again over the last few years and if the performances are anything to go by, selection is not based on performance but on instagram followers.

Depends on who wer are up against.

But against a team like Liverpool?

Onana; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Casemiro/Mainoo; Garnacho, Mount, Bruno; Højlund

Not sure we can play both Casemiro and Mainoo against teams with high mobility and pace in central midfield. Also think Mount is a must!

Looking great in the French league to starting for Manchester United is a massive leap. I accept that Martinez has been dodgy so far but it's premature to suggest that Yoro is a better option for us than Martinez. Maybe he is, but all we have is speculation based on his performances in the French league and that's it.

This looks right to me, although I would like to see what Bayandir has got in his locker. Onana is playing himself out of a starting job...unless he too has a "must play" clause in his contract.

ye I agree. Ideally we’d buy a new number 1. But aslong as ETH is here that won’t happen.

Back 4 has two variations IMO, I'm not sure which the better one is, a lot depends on how you want to play

Option A: Mazraoui, Yoro, Martínez, Shaw

Option B: Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, Martínez

Also, we now have some quality depth on the bench, some of whom are unlucky not to get into the strongest XI: Whoever the 3rd choice CB is going to be, Maguire, Malacia, Dalot, Collyer, Mount, Amad, Zirkzee. The squad is decent.
 
The problem is it's hard to actually know. You also have to take into account players on form, so I'm picking what I think is the best starting 11 with a fully fit squad and players when they are at their best.

Prefer Garnacho on the right rather than the left and don't think Amad is ready to be first choice anyway.

No idea which of Bruno or Mount I'd push out wide, but at the moment I'd take either of them out there over Rashford.

I actually like this take on the midfield, with Mainoo in more of a deep progressor role with the athletic pressing demons ahead instead of him being asked to do both.

Still think Amad is our best forward at the moment so wouldn’t have him on the bench but can understand the thought process of that front 3

Fair enough, but right now Yoro is wearing a boot. I'd give Martinez at least one match with Ugarte shielding the back line before throwing him to the wolves.

Ha that's not quite what I am doing. Simply what I think our best 11 if everyone is fit right now. I'd not have rashford in right now either.

I genuinely think that Bruno and Mainoo can work as CM controllers. And Zirkzee will be best forward. Defense is good, and midfield (imho) is pretty good also. But we may need to wait for a new manager that favor more game control.

The attack still look very weak, if we do want to start challenging for the League. Even with City's midfield, that attack would probably land them 3rd in the League.

It gives license to Mainoo going forward more, free up Rashford to focus more on attack, while maintaining defensive stability.

I’ve kicked this around for ages and have come up with the same as you. Sad to say I can’t fit Bruno or Rashford into my best X1. May be controversial but I think the one under most pressure in this line-up is Martinez when Yoro is fit.

Mount over Bruno is worth a punt but Mount appears to have lost all effectiveness with the ball. We need a playmaker somewhere in the squad.

This is my team too.

But have to say still some major weaknesses in the team.

- Goalkeeper... yeah, he's harshly judged, but not great
- Lack of pace at centre back
- At some point Shaw will no longer hold the reputation of his best self, after all these injuries it's almost impossible we see peak Shaw ever again
- Current Mainoo, Amad, Garnacho and Hojlund should really be bench players deferring to more experienced quality players who are in their prime (but obviously we don't have any)
- Hollywood Bruno ensuring we'll never hold possession of the ball for more than 5 seconds


I'll reserve judgement for Ugarte. Our strongest position is right back, Dalot and Mazrauoi good options.

Honestly I wouldn't hate to see it.

Would finally give us an excuse to see if we can make something work without Bruno.

I suspect the 2 in midfield may struggle though.

Yeah agreed, but if they are all playing well then they can rotate I’m sure.
 
It's good to see at least a few posters recognize we have a problem at keeper as well.
