Winter Olympics 2010 Vancouver

Ahhh Swede bottling it again. I hate Noggies go away Elliott

Shut up, Richter.

Jesus Christ I'm happy now. Just delighted. WHAT a race by Bjørgen.

Well at least a dodgy Eastern European didn't win congrats on your first and second gold these Olympics.

Finland absolutely crushed Belarus in their opening game. Their roster looks a bit underwhelming on paper compared to the other big teams, but they always manage to step things up when it matters.

Sweden - Germany in a couple of hours now.

2 Russians who've never won anything come to the Olympics and do that. Ffs, you don't have to be a cnuting rocket scientist. Add that fecking ex-Russian Kuzmina to the list of obvious cheats.

Canada - Sweden (women's ice hockey) play now. God, Is there anything less sexy than a female hockey goalie?

I always suspect the Russians and Fins to be doped. Always. Their history is littered with that shit and they have a culture of it, even letting previously banned athletes compete again time after time.

Definitely. Several of their current coaches have very suspect pasts as well. Goes to show how much they care about fair play, the cheating bastards.

But how much do you celebrate a gold medal for your country when there's a 50% chance of cheating? I do hope they are clean now but let them prove it the next 20 years and I'll congratulate them more sincerely. As for now, I bet at least one of them have been hitting the pharmacy. It's not sour grapes though, I'd never ever have the same suspicion if it was a Swede, Italian or anyone else but like I said, the Russians and Fins haven't earned that trust.

I doubt they give a feck, especially the Russians. It's an accepted part of their sports culture.

All three Norwegians went flat on their face in both their runs in the half-pipe qualifiers. Feck. Not that I expected much. Shame Freddie Austbø got a concussion yesterday, I think he would've made it to the semis at least.

And what's with everyone and their dog doing double corks now? And mostly falling on their arses. Is it on some sort of must-do-list or something?

Nice run by Markus Malin from Finland there. I might have to root for them in this one, despite Shaun White being as close to a shoe-in as anyone is likely to get.

I hate saying this but I'm a hundred percent sure these guys were doped.

1. They've never won any classic sprint before.
2. They distanced Petter Northug in a sprint, something that hasn't happened before.
3. They are Russian, and there are alredy 5 Russian skiiers caught for doping this year.
4. Two or three weeks ago, the Russians pulled their entire sprint team from a FIS race, and put in a reserve team instead. Why? Who knows, I think to avoid tests.

Thing is, that they are not doped now, so they won't be caught either.

Great for Bjørgen though, she deserves it more than anyone I can think of.

Great performance from Shaun White.

Shame that no one really pushed him though. May have been different if Kevin Pearce and Danny Davis had not been injured.

True. Sick going into a run that doesn't matter and pull a double mctwist, though. Show-off :D

Also, I'd like to apologise to the Swedes for the embarrassing comments made by Northug and Aune. Can't we all just get along?

Why didn't Mikael Samuelsson make it for Sweden?

I don't know really.. Would have preferred to see him there instead of Weinhandl who looked lost on the ice. I'm hoping Weinhandl will be put on the fourth line. The argument for bringing him was that he had great chemistry with the Sedins in the past but that was a long time ago and the twins obviously works best with a Burrows-like player.. So I'm hoping Hörnqvist or Franzén get to play with them later on.

Sammy also told the press that the Swedish management could "go feck themselves"

Iron Stove, how is the Swedish hockey team right now? What would be a good tournament for you guys?

I take it the Canadians and the Russians are the big favourites, but are Sweden better than say Finland, USA, the Czech etc?

Hi Ruben,

I think the US and Sweden are pretty much tied as the third best team on paper with perhaps a small edge to Sweden. I think we have a very good team, maybe even on par with the Torino team, but the team is in a bit of a generational transition. It's the last cheer for some of the all-time Swedish hockey legends such as Lidström, Forsberg and Alfredsson and we have a bunch of really talented youngsters who were too young to make the team.

I really hope BÅG (the coach) changes some of the lines for the next game and actually goes with 2 not 3 Power play lines. It was so frustrating seeing Weinhandl getting more PP time than someone like Bäckström who is ten times the player he is.

Bronze would be a good tournament, getting to the final would be great and winning gold incredible.

Can someone explain to me how the Curling tournament works? It looks like they start out with one big league in which everyone plays each other. Then what?

One of the noggies complained that those in the first semifinal heat could rest much longer. The two Russians were in the first heat. (So were those who finished fifth and sixth but Pettersen fell and Poltaranin was a bit of a surprise, wasn't he?) Bjørgen, who humbled her opinion in an almost similar fashion, was also in the first heat.

Yesterdays womens downhill was incredible, never seen so many girls doing their best to kill themselves.

All the falls I saw came because they were too defensive and didn't attack the curves. Pärsson is excused for falling on her arse, it's gigantic so it's bound to drag her down somewhat.
