Honestly, what do you get from posting stuff like "that was shit", after every shot? Is it that important to you to be able to say "I told you so"? By the looks of things you will be proven right about Nadal beating him comfortably, wouldn't you be better off enjoying the game rather than scoring cheap points off people on an internet forum?

It isn't that he's not playing well enough in this match. He is, and he's getting all the break points he needs to be winning the sets. But he's losing his head on those break points and just not taking them.
He needs to calm down, relax, get himself back into that position of having the break points and then fecking take them.

I've posted and complimented him on other boards alright... tennis boards. And on here, I've posted my praises and complaints about people overrating his ability... Nadal's proving me right though, you can't get dominated like that on your favorite surface (after getting destroyed in the same way in the french open final a month ago) by a 22-year old... if you are the best tennis player ever.

Exactly. Even if you dislike Federer you can see this is more than just how well Nadal has played. Its a mental issue.

I do like Federer though; he's my favourite tennis player. And I do rate him as one of the best ever (just not the best).
But this game is shocking. The reason I'm getting so frustrated is because I've never seen him like this. He looks so mentally fragile; it's almost as if he's bottling it on the really big points. Breaks of serve, long rallies, easy shots; he's getting himself into positions to win those, so his game clearly hasn't collapsed, but he's just not taking them.
If he'd taken even half of the break points he's had then he'd probably be winning the match, or at the very least it'd be tied at one set all.
Does Federer have a coach even? I remember he dumped Tony Roche and then what happened?

To be fair its always been the case against Nadal. I always think, come on, just put the fecker away and he doesnt. He has to play one extra shot, he shanks it, he hurries it and frustrates himself. Even on clay after the last three finals i come away thinking Federer should have won. If he finished points against Nadal the way he does against others, IMO he would have won a french and this game would be very different.
Hard to say why. I doubt its merely bottle. Hes faced great challenges all throughout his career, played on every stage, and he always saves his best for the toughest moments. It leaves me thinking its a nadal thing. This is his biggest test now to overcome. It will be a blow to lose this but it would just mean one poor year.
As a side note, does anyone really like Becker on the BBC's coverage? Seems a decent guy, can be quite funny at times, and he knows his onions when it comes to tennis.

i actually think roger was starting to play better. while this break may help him it might also help nadal who can calm down and come out swinging and end this in 3.

Nadal is his nemesis. Federer needs to use this rain break as a chance to focus and get his game together. Winning the next set is essential to help him get some rhythm back and give him a chance in this match.
He is pretty good, makes good cohesive points. Would have never thought he would be one for this from what I know about his playing days and the bad press coverage on his personal life etc.
Yeah, even today I feel he could easily be 2-0 up. Credit to Nadal though he somehow manages to win every big point. Reminds me a bit of Chelsea, not pretty but effective.

This is not a copy of the French Open final. In that game Federer was well and truly outplayed. He didn't stand a chance. He didn't get many break points and he lost game after game after game.
Here that isn't the case. He's two sets down, but he needn't be. He's matching Nadal physically and with skill, but not, as KingEric said, mentally. i think he was referring to the slowness of the grass brings nadal into the picture of winning this tournament. sampras and nadal in their primes would be fascinating
