Wimbledon

Good game here on centre. Hewitt was unlucky in Tie-break. Had a load of chances.

Federer looking uncomfortable

Hewitt loses his serve in the first game of the second set. Hopefully Federer can push on from here now.

I'm thinking this is the typical bottle job by Hewitt before miraculously forcing a five setter, then losing anyway.

What do you work at Broph's - ie how do you get the time to watch wimbledon??

I see where it has been said that Federer needs to change his game plan at Wimbledon as some people think Nadal will get him in the Final. Hense why Becker is saying that Federer is not playing his usual shots but changing his game style here in the second set.

Hense him coming into net more and serve and vollleying

I work in the legal profession Baz, so I can do all of my non-court work from home. During Wimbledon I tend to do less work and more watching tennis. :)

I see. Did you ever play yourself?

Serena v Venus game seems inevitable, that's what happens when you allow men to play in women's competition.

Don't know which match you lot were watching because it has been a poor game, even the first set. Fed was off color and Hewitt still did not do anything.

Hopefully it will end quickly, I want Radwanska v Kuznetsova

I did indeed. Spent most of my childhood/teens in the tennis club. Haven't really played much since I moved to Dublin.

What club did you play in. I was a descent player in Mullingar, but my brother was better. Himself and another lad got sponsored by Prince in the late 80's early 90's.

I still have the prince bags

If I was betting lads I wouldn't touch the Nadal Match. Youchny has a good record against Nadal and has played well.

Played in Carlow when I was younger, then St Anne's(Waterford), then in Bishopstown(Cork). Looking to start again soon up here, gotten lazy in my old age!

Aye, there was a lot of free gear and all that jazz for a while there, I got some Babolat stuff myself, the racquets were shit though. Far too heavy around the grip, like playing with a feckin yard brush or something!

Good serving game from Federer today. It`s amazing to watch how he pulls of the aces every time someone has a break on him. Other than that, he doesn`t look at his best yet IMO.

If he was facing Nadal today, he would probably have lost. Hopefully he can pick it up, I`d love to see him stuff Nadal.

Ancic v Verdasco is an absolute cracker of a match. Of the two though, Ancic is the only one who might give Federer a game.

Ancic wins 13-11 in the fifth. This long a game won't do him any favours when he plays Federer.

Also, Verdasco's behaviour was an absolute disgrace. He spent much of the fifth moaning about bad calls, and then when he lost he barely shook Ancic's hand, refused to shake the umpire's, and walked off court before Ancic had even gotten into his chair. Happy enough to see him knocked out to be honest.

Now I remembered why Nadal annoys me so much...the constant time wasting- towels, arse fingering, ball-bouncing..he's such a poof.

How did the audience react to that brophs?

Nadal serving for set btw.

They didn't seem too bothered to be honest. It isn't really the Wimbledon way to barrack a player(That's Paris). And the layout of the court is such that he had to walk through them to leave the court as well, but he was gone before anyone had moved. I hate to see players reacting like that, it's completely disrespectful towards their opponents.

I agree. Thought the Wimbledon audience disliked players who argue too much with the umpires though, maybe I`m mistaking.

I don't think they love it, but you won't often see more than a bit of silence or whispering, or better still, overly cheering the player's opponent. Verdasco's behaviour was beyond argumentative though, it was arrogant and dismissive of the umpire.

Glad Jankovic went out today. Makes the road to a Williams final and me cashing in a little easier.
