Wimbledon 2013

That's as defensive as I've seen Murray play in a while. 36 winners over 5 sets is shocking.

He relied on Verdasco's errors to squeeze through but if he does the same against JJ or Djoko/Del Potro he'll be going home.

That's Murray's game. He relies on opponents missing, too much at times.

Novak is going to make easy work of Del Porto especially with the injury the later is nursing. Murray is the only one who can stop him. Hopefully Andy can make it to the final.

Yeah its amazing how many matches he has won because the opponents are shite.
Laughable peoples attitude towards Murray, off court he comes across as a decent bloke yet people seem to think Federer and others are great characters :wenger:

I am Scottish and will support any Scottish sports person, wouldn't be so keen on South Africans, Australians or Canadians representing my country though.

Murray used to come across as a miserable chippy cnut, since he's cleaned his act up people are much more favourably disposed. He's way off the pace in this tournament though, if he makes it to the final Djokovic will make short work of him.

I just dont get why men cant be dominating servers these days. Back in the day when I started watching the likes of Sampras, Rafter, Philliphoses, Rusedski, Goran etc. had booming serves. Also no one likes to come up to the net these days. That was one of the reasons why Pete was so dominant in my opinion. Of course its hard to learn playing up at the net, but its so effective in the long run.

Becker was one of the best serve volley players.

No he doesn't. He had a poor game today and suddenly people are underrating him and trying to criticise him as a player again. Up until now he's been very good.

Yes he does. He's primarily a defensive player, there's no question about that. An excellent one, mind.

Players are so powerful and athletic these days and can execute returns, passing shots or lobs from anywhere on the court, that's why players don't want to come to net. The only surface it mildly works on is grass.

feck of Verdasco, you gigantic semenbag

Hopeless cnut. He choked in 5 sets (after being 2 sets up) in an Aus open not long ago that cost me $10,000. fecking colossal cock knocker.

Vidic at the Novak game

Beautiful bit of man love at the end of the Janowicz and Kubot game. I like this Jerzy bloke, fecking wild serve and wild forehand. I think he might be a sneaky dark horse..

Good reaction from Murray, looking at him as to say yes it really is incredibly difficult to archive that, so what on earth is your point you utter spastic

Aye, as much as I want him to pull it off, he doesn't look sufficiently sharp or match-fit to challenge Djokovic from the evidence of the tournament so far and his less than favourable preparation for it.

I backed him to win with a saver on Djokovic that's now restructured for a Djokovic win.

First, they slugged grass to make it more slow-court player friendly. Second, all players tailor their game to the predominant surfaces which means their grass game is limited. A maverick like Brown took out Hewitt with serve/volley/drop but the big players are conditioned to play baseline.

Couldnt that work both ways though? And Im not saying coming up to the net is like a perfect solution to winning points by in my opinion you can be more successful. It worked for the Ukrainian guy against Federer this time around. I think if your opponent is better than you in ground strokes, it might help to come up to the net to not let him play his natural game.

Net play isn't just coming to the net and hitting the 'gg' button though. Lots of players recently have tried to develop their net game and been terrible.

It takes experience, like said above the power in most players is what limits it. It used to be a 50/50 way of come to the net and execute a 1/3 against my 1/3 guess and the odds of that were great when players were less powerful. Now it has to be near the perfect approach shot every time otherwise the player is nearly odds on to get passed and/or lobbed if they don't read.

Have to be a swift mover with good deep court reading to utilize the net these days. Even Federer in his prime who was sensational at reading the net and killing off points has put the net game in the locker. He very rarely uses it as a source to attack with anymore. I find myself more and more saying 'fecks sake man get to the net and kill that point off...' to often when I watch him. The gets from your opponent are just getting better and better and better.

No love for the Bartoli Vs Flipkens match?

You'll come drooling in once the Liziki match starts. What a bunch of uglists you cnuts are.Shameful.

Redcafe - No Uglies Allowed.

I remember seeing Bartoli a couple years ago an she had a strange serving motion. Seems not at strange now but still not normal.

Always thought she would win this matchup, but didn't think she would look so convincing. Flipkens was lucky she got kvitova on a day she was ill.

Bartolis noises are pissing me off a bit.

Sooner this is over sooner we get lisicki

She changes it regularly, the one with a sort of hop involved stands out.

It was the one where she twisted her wrist in an unnatural way. I actually think Bartoli might give whoever a good game in the final. Then again, Flipkens isn't the greatest opponent to judge someone on.

Remember Bartoli against Henin in the semis the last time she reached the final. Looked shite in the first set, then from nowhere turned into a superwoman and Henin had a look of disbelief on her face.
