Wimbledon 2011

Murray should do it, just got a mini-break to go 5-3 in the tie-break

And now 6-3

Two serves to win

Well done to Murray for finally winning it but he's not going to win any Slam playing like that. Yet another ordinary performance.

Play like this and Gasquet will take him out next round.

He's not going to win a Slam with that second serve

And w8r, what was wrong with his performance to your mind

Andy Roddick is the most inconsistent player. Fecker! He used to be my favorite player after Sampras left. Over the last few years his performances have dropped dramatically. Well now I hope Nadal wins.

His performance has not dropped, other players are just better. All he had was his serve, good players found a way to return them.
In anycase, Federer called him one of his great rivals so I don't think his performance has dropped that much. ...

Far too many moments in matches where he just loses the plot. This always seems to happen to him.

And as you said, that second serve of his is a disaster. The second week will be a lot harder and tbh if he needs to beat Nadal and Fed/Djoko back to back to win Wimbledon, I can't see him doing it.

Says a lot about the era just before Nadal and then Djoko arrived.

And Fed has a 20-2 record against Roddick, his greatest challenger for 3 years. Ofcourse Fed will think it's a great rivalry. Imo it wasn't even worthy of being called a "rivalry".

It was like watching United vs Wigan with Roddick always being Fed's bitch.

To be fair, Ljubicic was serving well, averaging 122 and at 68%
And with his serve that's going to be a tough opponent, I think it was more a case that he was playing a guy who was playing well and giving his best to beat Murray

Every player in the 2nd week will be doing that and they'll be far far superior to Ljubicic.

Murray is a very good player who will probably win a Slam sooner rather than later but he needs to improve his game and cut off the mental lapses in matches.

Like they alluded to in commentary, he's a shite front runner. He will always up his game against the better players though (unless it's a Final of course.)

Thanks for the article wr8.

I have both Nadal's and Djokovic's rackets, or rather I first used Nadal's and now I only play with Djokovic's. The difference is immense. I wasn't surprised to find in the article that Nadal's Babolat is the best selling of the three, as it is definitely the easiest for novices to control. The grip is thin and has an even thinner part in the middle of the handle, which is really useful if you are a starter (especially when it comes to adjusting a two-handed backhand).

The racket is also lighter than Djokovic's Head which is harder to master both due to the weight and to the grip that is narrower, while the string pattern makes it tougher for one to put some spin on your shots, as underlined in the article. Beginners who must put a lot of spin to get the ball past the net just off-center a lot more with his racket.

Silver lining being that when you face advanced players with faster strokes, you can counter-punch more easily using the pace of their own shots against them - one of Djokovic's main assets when he returns serves, as the ball seems to come back to the server even faster than it went off. Something Nadal cannot do with his top spin that slows down the ball, but makes up for with his footwork.

So basically the crowd's made up of a bunch of former sportsmen and women I don't give a feck about.

Piss off and show me some tennis, cnuts.

Not really a shock since Monfils sucks on grass....

2nd Slam in a row Murray's path to the semi's just opens up

Nadal has to play Del Po, Berdych, Murray and Fed/Djoko back to back to win the title :nervous:

Just following the text updates of Schiavone's match, her serve is an embarrassment. She seems to spend all match teetering on the brink of being broken or having to break back to stay in it.

Berdych shouldn't be a worry but Del Potro is on song this tournament so far.

Camoronesi had a chance to win it there but screwed it up. Looks like he'll break again.

Schiavone breaks back. Watch her fanny around on her own serve for the next forthy five minutes before being broken.

Nope, Schiavone didn't even bother putting a bit of suspense into it, she just lost her serve to love. What a stack of shit she is.

Tsonga absolutely dispatched Gonzalez, was expecting it to be a tougher match for him.

Hopefully he can get past Ferrer and give Federer a tough match in the quarters.

Gonzalez is just returning from injury. It wasn't too surprising...

Now Schiavone has to hold to stay in the match. Can she do it?

No, in all likelihood.

She probably will. And then when she's serving for it at 11-10 she'll get broken again.

Schiavone loves these marathon games. She had an epic match vs Kuznetsova at the Aussie Open this year as well which broke records.

This is one of the top female players, apparently, and she simply offers next-to-nothing on her own serve. She waits for them to miss as often as not.
