Nadal seems to be only at his best after losing a set!
He needs to get another break and serve first in the final set (if he does manage to take this set and consolidate the break he has)

Nadal's turned it on in this set. Just like the 2nd.

He better not switch off in the final again :nervous:

If Nadal gets to Soderling and plays like that, he'll be straight setted in under 1 hour and a half.

Nadal just broke in the 5th.

Haase completely lost the plot and tanked the match. Injury or not his level dipped considerably after the 3rd.

Haase has not tanked this. Nadal took his game to a new level after the 3rd. He was really pumped up.

It's been a strange match really. Nadal has been the better player for almost all of this match. It's just 2 poor games that cost Nadal 2 bloody sets.

30 love up at 5-6 in the first set and suddenly a double fault and stupid errors.

Same thing in the 3rd. at 2-3 down he missed a ridiculously easy shot and a double fault and got broken. Other than that Nadal's been good

5-2 It's over. Nadal was pretty lucky that Haase injured himself in this match. He might have been in major trouble. That and because Haase has very, very poor return.

Van Nistelrooy (Haase) received 2 medical timeouts. He barely moved since the 3rd set. He's well known for his physical issues since he broke into the top 50.

After he won the 3rd he just went for it every rally, his legs were shot.

Nadal served 60% or more in every set bar the 2nd one which he won. If that was Isner or Mahut against him today, only one poor game in a set and he would've been sent packing in the 2nd round.

Can't see Nadal playing that bad in the match, he was just blown out by Haase, not to mention that the latter has a pretty poor return. If he doesn't pick up he'd be murdered by Sod in the QF's.

The 3 sets Nadal won he was imperial. Amazing tennis. 22 straight points on his serve at the end. Incredible

But he needs to cut out bottling it on big points on his serve. Soderling won't spare him

Hehe, some of you gimps were watching a pointlessly long tennis match instead of witnessing one of the most amazing world cup games of all time.

Let this be a lesson to all.

His first medical time out was for an ankle problem post the 2nd set and that din't really affect Haase at all in the 3rd set did it? He was pumped and played 2 incredible games to get the break and consolidate.

Even the 2 sets Nadal lost nadal was the better player. He should have really won this in straight sets but lapses in concentration proved costly.

But after the 3rd Nadal was super charged up. You can't blame injury for that 4th set demolition

And I had the TV on besides the PC so no i dint' miss the greatest game of all time!

Did someone just say Kournikova is up next in doubles on centre court?

I'm watching this!

Haase had knee issues resulting him dropping in the rankings after reaching 50 something. Today he served great in the 1st and 3rd, the nerves got to him in the opening game in the 2nd. The injury may not have affected him immediately, but after the 3rd anyone could easily see that his footwork dipped, he went for it in every rally and couldn't really hang on bar his serve which was keeping him in.

Haase played all his return games dipping returns in the net, chipping them in and was rewarded twice, when Nadal made some errors in the first and played some great shots in the 3rd.

Can't see how Nadal's level was different in each set? The set in which he served like <60% was the second one which he easily won.

I know he had a knee surgery last year but he din't seem unfit to me really.

He was moving perfectly in the 3rd and at the start of the 4th. I think Nadal's ruthlessness in the 4th really killed his spirit. He gave his best but Nadal was really pumped up.

It was just like the first game of the 2nd set where just having lost Nadal raised his level completly..

So no I would not blame it on injury..

Oh and some great great games tomorrow:
Kohlschreiber-Roddick and Monfils Hewitt and Henin Petrova

Poor guy Mahut.

He's back on the same court to play a doubles match.

what's the most number of games played in the 5th set before this?

was it roddick alaynouvi 21-19?

Well I know Mahut himself played a set till 24 22 in the qualifiers some days back..

I'm finding it hard to understand how you can some of you can support one man so much..if it was a team fair enough, but the Nadal love-in is quite remarkable.

I don't like Nadal he's basically a clay court player who's benefiting from them slowing up the grass courts.

Yeah beating Fed in a Wimbeldon final despite barely EVER playing on grass all his life was a really small feat.

I love it how everyone loves to brand Nadal as "a clay court player".

He's won a Slam on all surfaces, he's won a Olympic gold, he's won the Davis Cup, twice been World Number 1, has 7 slams, has broken the all times record for number of Masters Series titles, has come back from his injury despite 5 months back people saying he's finished. I don't know what more he can do to convince people he's just not a "clay court player".

A clay court player does not go ahead of Federer and claim the number 1 ranking for a long period of time.

He's consistently good on all surfaces and really great on Clay and very good on grass.

he's a roids abuser.

I actually don't dislike Nadal, i take that back. I can't stand Federer though, biggest cry baby in the world. A pure gimp.

Murray to win wimbledon, actually if England get far he has a good chance of doing it, all the attention will be deflected off him and he can just concentrate on his tennis.

Same here. Cant stand Federer at all.
Great though he might be he's been lucky he's played in such a weak field of tennis players for years before Rafa came.

When his only so called "rivals" were Hewit and roddick it's no wonder he's been winning slam after slam

Exactly, then you get all the plastic tennis fans who claim he's a saint based on his attitude when he's winning.

IT's very easy to be a saint when you are winning everything. Look at the state of him when he loses, completley pathetic, as a young player he was always going mental too. A complete "holier than thou" twat of a man.

Nadal has spirit and fight and whilst he is certainly not happy in defeat he can at least swollow it rather than cry and moan about it. And frankly Nadal has way more excuses he could use than Federer.

Completely agree.

I just don't get it when people say federer is the ideal sportsman and a role model for kids. He's a sour loser and always ready to blame someone or something for his blame and very rarely credits his opponents.

And his snide remarks about Djokovich and his health were very classless indeed.

Thats a fair shout! He's actually surprised me so far, his form coming into Wimbledon was frankly awful. He seemed totally relaxed the other night.

Isner's gone.

6-0 6-3 6-2.

Just an hour and 14 mins on court today. Not surprising really.

Yeah. Everyone was rooting for him today but he looked even more dead on his feet than he looked at the end of his legendary match. He's pulled out of doubles too thankfully.

Henin beats Petrova :D

Henin vs Kim in the 4th round should be amazing now!

Oh and Hewitt Monfils and Roddick Kohlschrieber to come today. Great matches

I want a Federer Roddick rematch and for Roddick to crush the smug Federer. His attitiude after their last final really pissed me off.

Yeah I was up till like 5 in singapore only to watch Roddick disappoint...again

I'l never forget that backhand volley/smash he missed at the net when he had 3 set points in the 2nd set. That was the championships in his hand and he bottled it

Roger Is about to win his game en route to the title
