Wimbledon 2009

thought about doing a bet on federer to win the tournament

4/5 is awful odds tho....

are federer and murray on the different parts of the draw - i was going to do a bet on federer to beat murray in the final

might get a bit more value

anyone think of a better bet - maybe the womens draw

womens is fairly unpredictable so if you fancy your chances...

on the mens side it's pointless, although i think Del Potro is good odds, he's my outsider bet.

Poor ol' Roddick.

You can see the utter shock when one of his serves comes hurtling back towards him.

I love how Murray is British all the way up to when he gets knocked out, at which point he immediately becomes Scottish.

Murray will win this in four, but he won't be too disappointed to have had a decent run out first time around.

He's the world no.1 and fecked Federer in their last three meetings in Grand Slam finals. At 23. Yes, I'm clearly wrong...
Um weren't two of them unbelievably tight 5 setters? (if my memory serves me correctly).

Federer's had a not so great year and a half. Yet he's won 2 of the last three grandslams and could pick up three out of the last four if he wins Wimbledon. The notion that he lackles bottle is laughable. He's a truly great champion in every respect. Everyone has a bogey player whose game is suited to exploit your weaknesses (and sometimes gets mentally in your head).

Look at Shane Warne against Sachin Tendulkar. If we judged the latter by his displays against the former, you'd think he was a county standard bowler.

Federer though is better than Warne at what he does.

To be fair you're being a little harsh on Warne there. He's bloody good, the Aussie.

Murray wins it in four. Didn't really play very well, never got out of second gear and his second serve was pretty poor throughout. Kendrick was at times playing well above anything he has shown throughout his career. Satisfactory day for Murray, he'll just be happy to have gotten through that without any damage.

Does Ivanovic normally struggle so much with the toss? She's having to catch nearly every ball she throws up to serve.

Edit: Ana had match point, but it was saved and in the end she was actually broken. 5-5 now.

Andy Murray says the depth of British tennis needs to get "way better" after nine of the home nation's 11 Wimbledon starters lost in the first round.

Only Murray himself and Elena Baltacha were left to fly the flag for Britain as the rest crashed out.

And the British number one said: "It's disappointing. The depth needs to get way better. It's not acceptable.

"But regardless of whether there are 10 Brits in or just one I'm still going to take care of my own business."

the only other decent prospect is Robson, and didnt she learn to play in australia or south africa or something?

LTA is balls.

If you learn to play when you're 5yrs old then maybe, otherwise, no. The depth of talent is not what it should be, no denying that, and they do say that it is more Robsons that we should expect to see as opposed to Murrays.

Let's not forget though that Jamie Murray is a proven force in the Mixed Doubles. Admittedly it is a lesser part of the game but even so, it is rather entertaining and somewhere the home crowds can look to with hope.

Bartoli is last on Court 4 today and got through her opener with complete ease and no flare up of the injury, that's the one holds my interest.

Thought you went all in on Murray?

He's gone up since hasn't he.
