Wimbledon 2009

Who's higher up in the rankings out of the two?

Roddick takes it

6-3 6-7 7-6 (7-1) 4-6 7-4

What an amazing match...absoloute epic.

Hewitt's wife is a bit tasty. Losing can't be that bad when he gets to take that peice back to his hotel room every night.

Always been a huge Roddick fan...and he always manages to put his fans through the ringer, never makes things easy does the American.

Great win today mind.

Brilliant match from two former World Nr. 1's and Grand Slam winners. Highlights the strength in depth of the men's game.

Hewitt and Roddick were the two biggest casualties of the Federer era. They both collected their Majors in the era between Sampras and Federer but once Federer rose to dominance they both struggled to come to terms with meeting him, and consistently losing, in the semi-finals or finals of major competitions. In fact, has either of them won a slam since Federer won his first?

Anyway, it's absolutely great to see them back - they both seem to have resolved to get the best out of their last couple of years on tour, rather than wallow in self pity.

The men's game, already in great shape with a phenomenal top 4 - and a great rivalry between Fed and Nadal - just got even better. The rest of the season should be great...

Who are you, the ATP?

It's looking that way.

The re-dedicated Roddick breaks Federer in the fourth set. It's looking like another 5 setter. It couldn't supplant last years five set thriller, could it?

Murray, you prick, you've let the whole country down!

Just thought I'd get that in, albeit a few days late.

As for the final, I hope Roddick takes it. Great game so far, could go either way.

I can't decide who I'd like to see win. On the one hand, I'd like to witness the history of Federer becoming the greatest winner in men's tennis. On the other hand, Roddick's come back story is quite compelling. And after having lost 3(?) Wimbledon finals to Federer already, it would seem a cruel joke to watch him lose a fourth.

Nothing against Federer at all but i'd really like Roddick to win it this time.

I can see this set going into the teens. When was the last time that happened in a Wimbledon final?

EDIT: ^

Can't believe Rog hasnt broken Roddick all match
