A few people wanted a separate thread for Willian to prevent it clogging up the Transfer Tweets one, so here it is.

Obligatory tweets:

The Summer Transfer thread is free again. Thank you @CM10

Waste of money. A CB , CM, striker and RW are higher priorities.

Really don't get this one. Good player yes, but not worth the huge sums quoted. Plus would Chelsea give him up easy?

The only thing I can think of is Mourinho is privy to some contractual clause that makes Willian available at some price.

No thanks.

Giving one of our rivals £40m plus for a 28 year old who isn't anything great isn't good business. They'd most likely use that to buy a even better winger.

Typical Mourinho player and we do need a RW so it wouldnt surprise me but I'd prefer someone better. Not too many quality right wingers around though unfortunately.

Nope. Don't think Chelsea would sell in any case.

If he is 28.. that's a bad purchase in terms of long term value. He has been my favourite right winger for quite some time though.40m would have been more reasonable.

I'd take him if the price was right, but not for the figures being quoted.

60 million quid? No thanks. Lovely footballer, but the money would be better spent elsewhere. Definition of a luxury signing.

like feck we are going to spend 60 Mill on Willian  Chelsea warchest would be set for the summer.

Yes please, not for 60m, but would take him for 40m, great player. Exactly what we need down the right and could provide the workrate to compensate for Ibra. Willian is better than Mane, more complete and has a better attitude.

If we need workrate on the right I'd much sooner splurge on Mkhitaryan, as unlikely as that move might be.

This isn't my own personal fortune they are spending, if he costs 60 million, so be it.

William is a fantastic player.

For 60 million, there's far better players to get imo

Would be okay with Willian, but not at that price.

It isn't your own personal fortune. But we giving £60m to a rival who are most likely going to sign a better player.

Not sure I am for that.

I wouldn't read too much into the £60m thing, that'll just be a figure The Sun have plucked from the air.

I tend to agree that there are better options out there for the right wing though. If we're going to address that position we might as well do it right.

Do you honestly think Chelsea won't sign a top quality player anyway?

Are you forgetting they've got a billionaire owner, if Willian suits Mourinho, he suits me as well. I actually think he's a fantastic player, perfect supply for a certain giant Swedish legend.

Wouldn't want Willian at all, let alone for fecking £60m

40m? No way. 60m? Must be insane.

He is worth maybe 25m, maybe. He is as good as he gets now and that is decent, but there is better players out there.

I reckon this is his agent trying to get him a new contract.

This is a case of the papers thinking who will mourinho like from his last club.. Ah I know the only player who played to his ability last year. Willian.

Chelsea may have a billionaire owner. But Roman has stopped the big spending from his own pocket.

Mourinho had to sell De Bruyne, Mata and Lukaku to buy. His overall net spend there was a profit.

Giving them £60m is just basically telling them to go break Griezmanns clause because we know that is what will happen.

Pretty much. Although Mourinho didn't have to spend to buy.

Pros: Good player, just had a good season, versatile, suits Mourinho, showed character that was lacking from the rest of his teammates, carried their side at times.

Cons: Massively overpriced, not likely to improve much given his age.

Basically someone I'd be happy to see at the club as is but not someone worth spending a massive fee to bring in.

If Mou really wants him though then I guess....

If we had someone better lined up then yes but I wouldn't sell just for the money and then hope we can replace him.

If there is any truth behind this story (which I doubt), I hope Conte is given some input.

Conte is a big fan of Cuadrado anyway. You'd have his replacement at the club and can go spend big on another position.

But like you said, I think it is bollocks anyway.

No disrespect, but how can a player a limited as Willian be your favourite RW. Sure hes a decent player, but hes not particularly skillfull, his goal record is abit poor and his assist record looks just as average. His greatest strength is his energy and defensive work but maybe to me that doesnt seem that exciting. That being said id take him at UtD if the fee was abit lower, but as it is id rather go all out for Mahrez

He does not always try the fancy stuff at Chelsea but he's a skillful player.

Good player, who would be a big upgrade on what we have, PL proven and has worked with Mourinho before.

Quoted price would be stupidly high and he's not the most exciting of players, so I'd prefer it was used on someone else but the club are in desperate need of 'finished articles' who can come straight in and perform...that won't come cheap anywhere and young players, who are 'stars' that perform immediately like Martial are very, very rare.

Overall, I'm not sure we can turn our noses up at players like Willian.
