Will Arsenal win Quadruple?

A dearth of clever midfield playmakers is the least of your problems

Wilshire is fecking brilliant and Ramsay's class, you're hardly going to lose all of Fabregas, Nasri and Arshavin, and you also have Diaby.

You have an untested goalie, one good centre-half and one good striker (though admittedly he scores every time he plays when fit).

I suspect we'll lose none of them this summer. Really can't see us in our financial position selling anyone unless they threaten to put themselves in the cannon outside and fire themselves to Catalonia personally.

What happened to Arshavin?

Nothing.
He was always just a good player.
Scored 4 against pool and all of a sudden became the greatest footballer ever.
Typical flavor of the month stuff from arsenal .
Remember when they did.nt win the league cos eduardo got injured. Lol. Jokers.
They do this all the time, a player hits some form and they're hailing him as the next great thing.

Peter, imo you should stick with him. he may cost you some points next season but the talent and bottle is there. the other reason is that i don;t think there are many good goalkeepers available at this time.
Don't get me wrong - I think he's god as well and will be our keeper for the next 15 years.

Thought it was a ten year plan you had for your next trophy?

Arsene's defensive naivety is a profound flaw in his master plan. What do you think Pete? Stay or go?

It's not a question on the table as far as I'm concerned (or the board/owner which may be more to the point). Wenger is going nowhere until he decides to go - which is earliest summer 2014 and probably nearer 2020. Man Utd have got more to worry about on the managerial score - there's a VdS moment coming soon.

Even Vermalen... well, let's just say his reputation has grown by the week while he's been out!

Exactly, Vermalean's hardly been challenged in his career to date.. yet you'd think he's already worthy of being considered an equal of Ferdinand.

Vermaelen had a very good first season in the PL and would have been a first choice for us. I don't think anyone's made any more extravagant claims than that.

Yeah I think Wenger is about as good as you are going to get.

Wenger is about as good as you can get (as Gazidis and Kroenke know), you'd be stark staring bonkers to sack him.

Just to add my two penneth on Wenger...Great managers don't let a shot at a title(only 3 behind with a game in hand)turn into a fourth place finish, 10 points or more adrift of the side you were challenging for the top spot previously. He and Arsenal have also got form for that sort of mental breakdown at the back end of the season and show no sign of overcoming it any time soon.

A great nurturer of talent? Yes. A visionary? Yes. A great manager though? I'm not so sure.

To me, he's structured a club and created a squad that should demand them being a consistent force in PL and CL, the fact that they haven't been for a while and still truly aren't is an indictment on his ability as a manager to manage that squad and purge all those frailties from their system. His default setting of whinging has created an excuse culture within Arsenal, he, not the club, fans, or players, is responsible for that.

Wenger is about as good as you can get

If the measure is time spent being arrogant AND failing to win trophies then Wenger is the undisputed God.

I don't think Wenger can compete at the highest level anymore. I don't think you can get a better manager.

We are at the highest level - we've beaten you, Chelsea and Barca since Xmas. You won't get a better manager when Ferguson goes and Wenger will still be there.

:nono: 10-year plan, which is half way through. You'll just have to curb your excitement until it bears fruit.

One of Fergie's strength as mentioned by many former players and fellow managers is his ability to be flexibility, whether changing with the times or tactically.

Wenger's method/vision seems to be inflexible and more stubborn with time. I mean season after season, its the style/approach and the same result. Seems like Wenger is trying to prove his point rather than being more pragmatic and do what is necessary to get teh right results.

Isnt definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"?

Arsenal this season have basically been a carbon-copy of Roy Evans' Liverpool 96/97. Free-flowing football, feck all bottle.

Now they have even managed to finish 4th in a two horse race, just like uncle Roy.

You've played us 3 times this season and lost twice, one being when our midfield consisted of Rafael, Gibson, O' Shea and Fabio.

Since you lost the League Cup final back in February you've beaten United, Blackpool and mighty Leyton Orient (though tbf, that was the replay at the Emirates). 3 wins from 14. That's an epic implosion.

To be honest, I could see things go bad for you next season if Wenger doesn't makes some changes and stop making birth certificates issued after the premier league started a criterion for signing for Arsenal. The players have basically proved to themselves they have no bottle at all and I reckon they will be frustrated as much as anyone to be boxed in as being 'only young' when they could be better. Difference from previous seasons perhaps being that by now I think they might just believe that 'being young' is in fact holding the team back.

Goalkeeper's the least of our worries.

Agree long term, but he still might be raw next year. Worth going with him though imo, unless you could actually get someone like Buffon.
