Why is Ed Woodward held in such contempt?

Pretty disturbing to think he might still be here if not for the superlegaue debacle. Headcanon is he tendered his resignation to hide his involvement, later regretted it but his Glazer chums feeling thrown under the bus told him to get fecked.
 
Being an investment banking Glazer stooge with no football experience, who has carefully managed our demise may have something to do with it.

Don't think that it will take as long as people think. We have been able to survive because we are still incredibly rich. Our fanbase has not disappeared either despite the malaise. We are still the biggest club in the world, and that is based on the amount of fans that we have and our global appeal. That has still not waivered. Despite our poor performances, we were still able to get average players to be the talking point of most news outlets, we still get the most clicks and still sell the most shirts. We will always make money, we are a bit like the New York Knicks or the Lakers in the regard.

We can afford to have a few years of our salaries being imbalanced to clear our the damage that Woodward did, but it would also not affect us in the way it would affect a team like Arsenal. We will still be able to spend despite not making too much from these sales. We still have a few decent pieces in the squad that don't have to be moved on, some young players coming through and United is still an attractive player destination. Now we can actually focus on signing players that suit our team and what we want to be, rather than superstar signings or manager whim signings. That's the benefit we have that most clubs don't have, we can actually rebuild quickly. A simple 2 player signing in midfield would change our player drastically, I don't think people understand how bad we are in that position, yet how important that position is in the modern game, even moreso that before. In a single window, with just simple scouting, witjout burning too much on one player, we could change our ability to build up from the back and allow the likes of Bruno, Sancho and Ronaldo have more of the ball to create chances.
 
Ed Woodward should never have been employed by Manchester United football club.... that decision was as daft as it would have been for a club to give Clive Woodward a managers job.
 
The way I understand it, he was the Glazer's financial hatchet man - he found the way for them to buy the club and stick the ensuing debt on the club, not on themselves. As a reward, he became the top man at the club. If that's not good enough reason to dislike him, I don't what is.
 
He oversaw 8 years of abject failure and made no attempt to improve things apart from throwing more money at it and wasting it completely. On top of that he wanted to be some sort of celebrity figure and let everything go to his head until he realise people saw through his shit.
 
Too much ego. I can understand incompetence and learning on the job, but when he got laughed around Europe during the Moyes era, that should have been a wake up call to bring in footballing men. Instead, he doubled and tripled down. Going after players like di maria and sanchez.
