Sorry know it is full on muppet behaviour to think we could sign him but I don't think I have ever wanted a signing as much as this bearing in mind the fit for the manager we have just appointed.

Can play as LIF/RIF behind the CF and he ticks every box we want - goal threat, creativity, dribbling, better link up play/game controlling than Bruno and someone who would age well - not heavily reliant on sheer physical attributes but has the speed/sharpness to handle EPL.

Oh god that blogger blagger again

Wirtz is perfect for many systems. He is also one of the most sought after players in world football. Not sure United is good enough for him

Correct, but there are very few 10's who are tailor made to play for Amorim to a UCL winning standard.

That isn't my point. It's about having a bit self-respect as a club and not viewing players as being too good for you.

I probably worded it poorly but my point was, why would Wirtz pick United over the likes of Real Madrid or Bayern?

I mean I'm pretty sure the poster was just commenting on him being willing to come here right now, and he's probably right. Wirtz is probably the most sought after player in the world this summer (of those that will be available), unless he's really interested in trying to be the new starman of our rebuild I doubt we can tempt him over the current top teams in the world.

Obviously I'd love him here and he'd be the perfect Bruno replacement.

Is he a fit at Madrid? They are having enough difficulty trying to cram Bellingham, Güler, Vini Jnr and Mbappe into a functioning unit. As for Bayern, the same old question. What's the point?

I don't believe there are many clubs more desirable than us.

I trust they would manage to cram him in, just like they accommodated Kroos, Modric, Tchouameni and Camavinga in two midfield positions last season.

Not saying they would keep Güler, who struggles for minutes even when Vini / Rodrygo out this season

As long as he doesn't go to Bayern, I'm fine with every destination ;) There have been reports that he only considers a select few clubs with high chances to win the UCL as options, namely Madrid, City and Munich. There's a real chance he's staying until after the WC though and one year is a lot of time in football terms. If that happens, I'd expect Barca to be in for him as well, though, since they were already interested in him last year but lacked the money. Wirtz said himself that he always dreamed of playing for Barca as a child.

The logical choice would be following Alonso to Madrid, IMO. A coach who proved he knows exactly how to get the best out of him, biggest club in the world with almost guaranteed UCL titles waiting for him, a squad that lacks a player who excels in tight spaces and knows how to play their quick and direct attackers through, ezc.

In that case, I wouldn't be grumbling if we managed to snap up Güler.

Never gonna happen but yeah he'd be a no brainer.

For now we don't have money and we are mid table, so let's see how our players develop by the time we become a CL club again who can actually spend big. We have talented young players like Garnacho, Amad and Mainoo who all could technically blossom into top players who play right behind the CF long term in Amorims system. No use talking about transfer options in the mean time when there are other positions to address.

IMO he is the perfect fit for them. They lack this type of player. And he's streets ahead of Bellingham if you ask me.

I disagree with this part. We quite clearly need a sizeable upgrade on our attacking options if we want to progress this summer. Relying on a core of Garnacho/Hojlund/Zirkzee/ and an ageing Bruno in those spots is just asking for another season of spotty attacking production. Now Wirtz probably won't end up being the guy we get, but we certainly need to be looking at clear upgrades both in that position and the striker spot depending on what's available.

Our chances of landing him hinges on how good we'll look towards the end of the season...

And how bad it's looking for city.

Madrid should be a natural destination considering the Alonso links but then again they're already full to the brim there and I'm assuming short on cash.
