Why are United board/owners so slow to act?

Because they are as incompetent as Ole. They will only react when top 4 is mathematically over.

They wanted to avoid paying off Ole and his coaches after giving them a 3 year extension after last season's supposed success. Now their hands are forced.

Serious question. I think most fans were ready to sack him after the Leicester game. We have since been embarrassed by Liverpool, City and now Watford. What exactly is stopping them making the right decision?
Because we are Manchester United and we do things the ‘right’ way and don’t sack managers too quickly, we like to pretend we are above everyone else and give them copious amounts of time to turn a disasterous situation around.

See our previous pieces of ‘bravery’, LVG and Mourinho.

Nobody wants the job.
It’s hard to believe but there’s probably something in it.

No obvious interim manager and the managers we would like to go after (Zidane and Ten Hag) are not interested either at all or mid season.

Ironically because the Glazers are shit scared of the fans after their attempt to breakaway to the European Super League.

The fans want them to sack the manager now but the Glazers are too scared to sack a club legend.

#stalemate

Not sure anybody should be surprised. This board doesn't react to anything quickly - look how long it takes them to do literally anything football-related.

The absolute bullshit that nobody wants it or nobody better available. Just shut the feck up with that nonsense. Conte for one seemingly did all he could to get it. Other journalists say manager agents trying to reach out were told no. Stop talking rubbish

Nobody wants the job.
This.
We turned our nose up at Conte because he would've ruffled too many feathers and there's literally no-one else available that's interested in taking the job.
We'll end up taking a punt on another past it van gaal type to steady the ship. Watch this space.
Why would any up and coming manager (Ten Haag) or mid career manager (Rodgers) take over this shit show right now?

if sarr scored both their penalties it would have been 6-1. surely the glazers need to react.

Could you give me a credible source and who are the managers who are trying to land the job.

Conte?
Rodgers?

If you ask me it's simply because they put all their eggs into Ole's basket and that they've got no back-up plan if things go awry. Just sheer incompetence of the highest order, really.

They don't know what to do.

By which I mean they know Solskjaer needs to be replaced. But they also think better options might be available in the summer. So they're stuck on what to do now. And the whole situation seems to have caught them off guard, because they apparently lacked to the insight to recognise that there were signs last season that they may need to replace Solskjaer swiftly this season.

Results are going to force their hand but the inaction is ultimately because they only see bad options at this immediate point.

Get ralf rangnick in until the end of the season.. pay him what he wants to do it.

Start the motion on ten haag and get him next season. Pay him what he wants and give him a budget.

do it

Because the club is run by a bunch of feckwits

Because the guy who sacks people leaves in a couple of weeks and he nor the new guy want to sack someone the first or last thing they do in the job. Not to mention, there is no backup plan for Ole not being in charge of United until the day he dies.

Bs. Big fecking bs. We simply have the worst board imagineable
It’s horrible. They went from spending no money to eventually spending loads but it doesn’t make up the fact that they don’t have any ambition or knowledge to make crucial decisions

If they sack Solskjær, they have to bring a strong manager in. But where is the strong manager, who is available? Maybe they considered Conte, but wanted to give Solskjær one last chance. Now it turns out they waited too long and Conte is gone. Then there is Zidane. But isn't that also a bit of a chance? He ended up really bad in Madrid, even though he had some good seasons before that. Zidane has never been a manager or played in the PL, so he does not know the league fully. Is it really a manager like that we need now that the players are having a big crisis? Zidane will have to get used to the PL and the culture and may have language difficulties. But we need a manager who knows what he is doing and can be a change right away.

With Mourinho, they changed manager and hired a care taker. It gave the players a boost to lose Mourinho because he created problems in the squad. Solskjær hardly does that.

Didn’t want Conte, no one else in a job is insane enough to take this mess of a job. Scrambling as we expected.

As I’ve said in other threads this isn’t about Ole anymore as he’s obviously not good enough it’s all on the board.

This is my issue now. Yes Ole isn’t doing well but it’s now up to the board to sack him and get someone better. Ole isn’t going to walk away from millions in a pay out. Again another incompetent decision to extend his contract.

Duplicate threads merged.

They are totally incompetent, simple as that. Was clear as day Ole had to go but they ket him on because they had no idea what else to do, now they’ll look even stupider by sacking him one game later so will probably just stick to hoping for a miracle.

That's a bs reason which the club wants us to believe. Conte was literally begging for the job. Truth is we have an incompetent board.
This.. If there is truly someone out there that they want they should at least go out and get him.

What I really don't understand is that the board realise if they buy the best players and pay them well, we have a good chance of winning. So why doesn't that also extend to the coaching staff? Why are they a bunch of lads who just got their footballing GCSE's?

Always it is under review. OK so I don’t know that for certain but a business of this size is constantly reviewing everything and anything that affects the bottom line.

Every month, or perhaps every day, the question is: what is best for the business? Sack Ole and pay him and the staff off or make a change?

To answer that question they have to predict the outcomes of Sacking and Not Sacking in terms of the business. Each carries risk and has potential costs or rewards.

When the cost of making a change is less than the predicted financial gain (or mitigation of decline) of making the change they will pull the trigger. I will be amazed if they don’t act at this point; the club is in free-fall and must be an embarrassment to the board; they have their reputations to think about as well.

I really think he will be gone before our next game. I wouldn’t bet my house on it but my car is on its last legs so I might bet that.

The Glazers have a bigger problem in that their whole business model has run out of road. If they want to stay top four, then will actually have to prioritise football over marketing because there are now four clubs better than us if we don't no matter who is in charge.

So appointing another second rate yes man doesn't get them where they're going. Appointing another Jose brings the roof down. Appointing a Klopp is not an option. So they don't really know what to do. Whatever they try to do leads to failure.

At this point any manager is better than what is currently being served up. A club the size of United should be able to get who they want.

I've no idea who is trying now, Ill try find the tweet but it was from a credible source after the city debacle. Its well known and widely reported that conte did, but this notion that Man United can't hire a better manager or that nobody wants it is just transparently idiotic

Several clubs have successfully hired caretakers until a target was available to try salvage a season. Solskjaer himself was a successful caretaker
