Who, with me, believes we can win the premier league?

Surely everyone believes this now?

We certainly can win it. I think we'll just fall short but we won't be far away.

I think we are not there yet in terms of squad composition and consistency of play. Its a step too far for us.

How thin really is our squad? Lindelof, Maguire, Scot, Malacia, vbs/dalot? I don't think we are thin. Injuries may just be our problem but apart from Bruno and Rashford, I don't think any player is over worked

Thin as regards quality.
Massive drop off when certain players play.

To win the title from here means probably having to win 13 more games. Look at it that way. Can we win 13 more games in the PL this year ? With the hectic schedule and the lack of forward quality? It's highly unlikely.

It's more a thinness in quality. The drop off from the first-choice eleven to some of the players you list is stratospheric.

Exactly this. We have no room for error and have to navigate cup competitions. The drop off in quality from 1st choice to 2nd is alarming, and we are quite reliant on Rashford to sustain his form and remain injury free. I am happy we are in this position but we need reinforcements in the summer to mount a proper challenge next season.

5 points off top with only 15 games to go.

We should be all out for the League now. The manager needs to show some balls and fully commit to it.

We have an outside chance but a chance nonetheless.
Thing is though, as great as ETH has been, I haven't watched us in any game and thought, We looked like champions. That's the reason I don't think we'll win.

It was the right decision to let him go following the interview. But…

Ronaldo would’ve probably found a final gear to win us the league. The possibility of another premier league title, especially after Messi lifting the WC, he always gets another level under such pressure.

Instead we have Wout.

We wouldn't even be in this position if we kept him to be honest.

We wouldn’t have been in the position to even theoretically challenge for the title come February with Cristiano still in the team.

And no.

edit: kept the page open for way too long and now it looks like I’m plagiarizing @Raw

He has no gears left.

We definitely can win the league but it shouldn't be the expectation. It's cool to think we can win the league as long as we don't put unneccessary pressure or criticise the lads if they can't do it. Frankly the manager and player have worked absolute wonders to put us in a position where this is possible. Proud of them all no matter what.

That is a massive whopper. He was garbage and his presence was a disruptive influence on team spirit . I doubt we'd have even been close to where we are with him still around

At least ETH can sub Weghorst off without having to deal with a media tantrum.

Ronaldo from last season probably, Ronaldo from this year absolutely impossible, he is barely having an impact in the Saudi League.

Even putting Ronaldo's tantrums to the side, Weghorst has been considerably more useful to us than he was purely from a footballing perspective this season.

Just no, seriously no. WW is not United quality but at least he presses and works hard for the team. And doesn't cause any issue in the dressing room.

Ronaldo would have done feck all on the field and cause us many issues in the dressing room. I'd doubt we could even get into the top 4 if he's still here and playing. Thank God he left.

I have been burned twice, first when I thought we could get a win at Palace and then Win against Arsenal to really challenge and then against Leeds at home when I thought we could win and get very close to Arsenal. But we failed to get over the line on both.

Therefore, now I am firmly in the top 4 camp. We are not there yet. We need far too many things to go out way to get the title. Above all we need a goal scorer a ST, who could remain fit and share the burden from Rashford.

Plus you need several outlets/goal scorers to win the league or when you get to a battle you need several different weapons, we have one only and if Rashford has an off day, we don't have anybody to share the burden with Bruno not having his shooting boots on and Sancho, Antony and Garnacho not being proper goal scorers.

Wout is just there to make his presence felt and run around and press. Infact sadly with his height, he does not even make his presence felt. For somebody whose 6'6 he should be towering above players for headers and nobody should be able to get the ball off him. Fellani was better aerially and Physically then him seriously.

Then we don't have any midfielder who can control the game, our games are like basketball which is not sustainable, top teams control the game from start to finish, sometimes you need control just to keep the ball away from other team, but with Fred, Bruno etc that is clearly not possible.

Lastly top teams score and kill the game, whereas all of our games are a struggle and we need to depend on our defence to bail out because we are hanging on. A top striker will punish teams with half chances and then at 2-0 down the heads drop for other team and mostly you go on and score another one or two to complete the rout.

So overall I don't think we can win the league and I will not even entertain this thought in my mind. However if we do, wow that would be amazing. But currently it's not possible, because soo many variables have to go in our favour for that to happen, whereas in football your luck runs out.

Don’t wanna get my hopes up about us winning it and then we fade away. We’re still in 3 other competitions don’t forget. What I will say is though, this is the closest we’ve been in a title race since fergie left. Yes I know we’ve finished second under mourinho and ole but them seasons didn’t feel like we was gonna win it because we was quite a distant of the top.

If we would have no injuries to our ideal start up including Eriksen, Martial, Varane etc. and we'd only focus on the league then we would definitely have the chance to win. Buuut with the injuries Martial are facing all the time, Eriksen being out for a long time and us playing in 3 other tournaments as well it is difficult

If we're within 5 pts after the Chelsea and Spurs games we've got a good shot.

Long way to go and the expectation is City will run away with it if they hit form.

BUT, if we are in touching distance after our game against Spurs, with five games remaining, then it will be a very interesting end to the season.

I think you can say this for every club except City. Theres always a big drop off. I think ETH is managing the whole squad excellently.

Surely you can't believe that. He is total finished. Offers nothing, hindrance to the team and squad.

Even struggling over in Saudia

Ye, my wording was a bit strong.

I disliked Ronaldo. Even last season, you could see his negative influence on the team.

But I'd love to have him now for the final 10 minutes of a game. He's worth a few wins, even being passed it. As I said - right decision to let him go, but if he couldve come to terms with his sporadic use off the bench - he'd have been hungry at possibilty of another title. And we do need that mentality - because no doubt about it - we're currently still in the title race.

No chance, we only had a chance if city were unbelievably poor.

Arsenal never really stood a chance either was only a matter of time, on the positive this could be the beginning of a new united era!

Not gonna happen. But it will be good to let city know we are there in case you get your foot off the pedal.

Arsenal are like us...the bench strength will bite them in the back side.

Coming second is good as when City's titles get taken away you get one for free... :D

I think the title is up for grabs, it's between the top 3. However we need a near perfect run from now to the end of the season.

I can see Arsenal and Man City stuttering, but tbh I can't see us taking advantage of it. As good as we are, we don't have the depth to be ruthless every game. 2 points dropped to leads, 2 points dropped at Arsenal and at Palace.

If we had those 6 points, what would the conversation be right now? I think we'll likely drop more points than Arsenal and City will. Need to keep sight of those below us.

Being there or thereabouts is a good indicator of our progress, but also references where the other clubs are.

The quality of the top teams has dropped, with United and Arsenal the beneficiaries, with an outside shout for the likes of Brighton, Brentford and Fulham.

The issue we have is, to date we have failed to win 9 games and taken 0 points in 5 games. Per recent history, that doesn't win you the big prize and I do think we've got too much to do to leapfrog both clubs unless we have a perfect end to the season (which definitely isn't happening).

Going out of the Europa league would be our best possible move if we wanted the league with the current squad, see how tonight goes.

We should try to win every match. Leagues & cups will take care of themselves.

A win hopefully, but united away in europe post fergie always make me nervous, we could easily lose 5-0 tonight, but can also see us getting a result.

Dropping out of the FA cup would be preferable. It would be a huge shame if we get knocked out of the Europa as there’s a certain degree of kudos that comes with winning any European trophy. If we had to sacrifice a cup in order to avoid too many games and injuries then you’d want to avoid potential replays on a rainy night in Stoke.
