Who will be United's big signing this summer?

I ideally like Martial right in front of Lukaku and playing them both up front centrally. Sanchez on the left and pulisic on the right is very dangerous for attack. The thing is this would leave us with no CAM, but with the pace of two dangerous wingers and the talent of Lukaku and Martial the play up the middle would be supplied by Matic and Pogba.
We would be going back to our classic 4-4-2. I don't ever really see anyone on here ever suggest LUkaku and Martial up front. I know people don't like Pogba in a two man midfield, so maybe diamond is the way to go here with Pogba more so on the upper left as opposed to playing directly behind Lukaku and Martial. I think it would be extremely impressive. Since it's a very attack minded approach Valencia actually works as a right back in this case, considering all he would have to do is defend and link the ball to matic or Pulisic.

All of those players you mention. How much do you believe they would have cost Poch if he was United manager?

They would have cost more, probably, but not all that much more ... maybe an extra 20%.

I think we’ll sign Jorginho and another midfielder who can get up and down the pitch. Maybe a young player.

Griezmann is your Savior. It should be a no-brainer.

------------------- Lukaku
--- Martial ---------Griezmann------ Alexis Sanchez
------------ Pogba-----------------------------
------------------------------- Fabinho

Of course, you keep the challengers Matic, Rashford, Lingard, Mata...

Considering that (a) the majority of the current Spurs best XI were signed (or else made first team regulars) under Pochettino; and (b) the entire cost of Spurs' best XI is little more than United paid for Pogba .... it's pretty much beyond debate that Pochettino would have made better use of the money than Mourinho.

It doesn't quite work that way.
If Poch was manager of MUFC, he'd pay multiples of the rice that Spurs paid for that same player.
Also, don't forget that if Poch was MUFC manager, he wouldn't buy the same players.
Spurs need to buy on the cheap. They make the players great, then sell them onto big clubs.

MUFC are one of those big clubs, which means that as MUFC manager Poch would never buy players like Son. He'd be aiming for big name signings, like Pogba or Sanchez, who would cost big money and expect them to take us not to top 4 (which is what Spurs aim for), but trophies.

Put it another way, if Poch joined MUFC this Summer and after 3 seasons won nothing (like at Spurs), he'd be fired!
The same goes for Madrid, Barca, Bayern, PSG, etc.

------------ Pogba-----------------------------

I would get Griezmann and Jorginho or a midfielder of similar mould but Jose has already said he won't be strengthening the attack unfortunately.

Doesn’t matter. The solution isn’t more big money signings, it’s better coaching.
We do need to make signings, but I would be happier getting a couple of players for the price of a superstar if they are the right players. It is exciting to sign a big name, but that soon wears off if you suspect they are using your club for their own means and not to benefit the team. I would rather get some younger players, early to mid 20's who still see us as a way to further their career on the pitch, not of it. Before people say Pogba. I said the right players. We were well aware that for club and country he plays in a three, so play him in a three, not shove Lingard in and try to fool us into thinking it is a three.

We should be looking to the future, building for the future. I now would not look at anyone over 25. We have some experience in the side now, looks to younger players.

Oh for sure we need players, specifically a couple of midfielders and maybe a full back, I just don't think we can buy away the problems in this team.

We have to replace some players. Are you then saying it is the manager and coaching?

Well, yeah. I mean, we have a tonne of talent in this squad, and yet they consistently look like 11 strangers on the pitch, who play with zero tempo, and who don't know what to do, or what run or pass to make. The manager has to do a better job of making them play like a team. Just buying a couple of new players and expecting everything to work itself out isn't going to solve anything.

Honestly wouldn’t know where to start to fix this team ! Who would we buy ? I bet if we bought messi we would turn him to shite !

Need MFs. Depending on who stays and leaves. Maybe a RB for an aging Valencia.

Should be a midfielder.

Adding too much new players will unbalance the team. We should concentrate on forming a coherent team with what we get. We should get maximum a midfielder, a winger and either a defender or back. Make a consistent XI that suits most players and let them play together a lot and form a link, rather than continuous chopping and changing.

From these 3 positions the big signing should be the midfielder obviously. I don't think we'll spend anything more than 150m next summer.

Another midfielder to partner Matic as Pogba can’t play deep. Push him further forward.

Two full backs. Sell some of the CBs and get a stronger base.

I don't want a big signing, I want the correct signings.

Martial - Lukaku - Sanchez
Pogba - Matic - New CM
New LB - New CB - Bailly - Valencia/TFM
De Gea

It doesn't have to be big name players it has to be the right players. Alderweireld from Spurs if his contract issues are true for CB. Not sure about LB or CM, from what I've seen I wouldn't mind Jorginho but I haven't seen too much of him.

Lukaku will never score a goal again, arguably that whole front 3 want to play where Lukaku is and are quite selfish players.

That looks like a very unbalanced side. Who is going to dictate our passing game and keep things running? I think one of our biggest problems this season have been finding a balanced side and not having a player that controls how we play. We have looked disjointed and sometimes like 11 headless chickens on the pitch. We rarely really dominate teams like City, Liverpool and Spurs.

Humm. Make the team you like but I don't see a current offensive United player better than Griezmann whose sense of sacrifice and work-rate are reknown!

He played with very different players like Giroud and Torres.

He offers pace, high defensive contribution, top passing skills and goals. I'm sure City will try to get him next summer.

See you next summer!

Alexis is our stellar signing, I don't expect a great big shiny new toy in the summer to join as well. I also don't think that that's what the team needs. We've got outstanding individuals, we need to focus on consistency and cohesion - a new central midfielder and centre back would go a long way to sorting this out, as well as cover for our full backs.

Christian Eriksen would be a dream, playing in a midfield 3 keeping things ticking over coupled with his ability to drift right with excellent delivery.

---Martial - Lukaku - Sanchez
---------Pogba - Eriksen
--------------Matic
Shaw - Jones - Bailly - Valenica
-------------de Gea

Griezmann or Dybala please.

We need more attacking options, all our attacking options (other than Sanchez) are maramite.

Sell Smalling and Damian.

Buy a DMF and another midfielder.

A right back to phase out Valencia.

Let's Hope Lukaku finds his scoring boots next season!

Our big signing should be a midfielder, I hope we can sign someone of the level of Kroos, Verrari, Thiago Alcantara, etc. However, I wouldnt be surprised if our big signing is a player like Griezmann.

We should be buying 2 fullbacks, 2 midfielders, 1 right winger and a central defender. We'll lose Carrick, Fellaini and should be getting rid of unreliable backups like Jones, Rojo, Darmian and Blind.
Young, Valencia and Shaw does not have enough quality between them so we need 2 new fullbacks.

The right winger could be our big money signing, but lets face it, anyone we're gonna focus on buying will cost us big ass titties anyways. The key is to get the right players, and a few of them too

Ideally I'd see jorginho and seri join. Both technically excellent and able to pass teams into the ground, and not in a van gaal kind of way. We probably need an upgrade on darmian as well.

Love the idea of Seri and Jorginho

Think we need a new LB as priority after the first CM signing.

I reckon you guys will get:

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Gareth Bale

They will both cost around 100 million.

We really really really really really need FBs. Our attack would be transformed night and day if we had proper FBs.

In addition to FBs we could do with another MF and a RW.

I’d almost be satisfied to keep our current CBs if we signed the above 4 positions. Christ, I can’t believe I typed that.

I always thought that it would be a CM or RW our big signing. But if we sign Sandro, Alderweireld, Fred and William, no one would cost more than 100m.
