Who replaces Ten Hag?

This is the thing for me. You think Mourinho, Ole, Rangnick AND Erik all believed McTominay is the answer to the midfield?

There's something from above thats saying the likes of him and Rashford (both coincidentally Academy lads) have to be starting every game. And the fact that 9 out of 10 times McTom plays the full 90 just leaves a sick feeling in the mouth.

Ole and ETH are flashy big names in football management?

Ten Hag supporters were saying he was far better than Pep and Klopp put together and the most sought of manager in world football

Now SJR has bought in I would let Erik and his backroom staff go then convince Sir Alex to step in as caretaker for the rest of the season with Steve McLaren as his assistant, Tom Heaton can take on the goalkeeper training duties and Darren Fletcher could help out in a coaching capacity as he wont be doing much anyway one SJR has his own men in place.

Although ETH is not the only one to replace, it is obvious that this doesn’t work and he should go as soon as possible.

Potter can come in and they can put on a Swan Lake production. Maybe that will fix everything.

The only upcoming young manager who is worth appointing is Xabi alonso. But unfortunately his Liverpool connection might be a hindrance. I don’t rate Ruben Amorim that highly. Other than that there aren’t that many options and I don’t want us to take another risk right now. This club is too big and the players are too entitled. We need someone with leadership and conviction in his ideas and I don’t know who.

Jean Claude Blanc is the most likely to get the CEO role and ultimately he’ll make the call presumably

Did he do the hiring at PSG? If so, perhaps Tuchel might come into the frame

Let’s hope it’s not Tuchel, and I also doubt that because he’s fallen out with every board he’s worked under, which is what ultimately has got him sacked everywhere.

McKenna is the obvious choice for me. Or Carrick.
Disaster waiting to happen, unless you get rid of the crop that are there that could possibly undermine them both.

Then give them money and time to get in players they need. There is absolutely no way going by the lot on this forum, that fans would have the patience.

Kompany made the league look easy last year in the Championship but they are guaranteed to go back down now.

Said it a few times but Lopetegui is the most obvious experienced candidate who'd be happy to come in for six months as a sort of caretaker.

Was interviewed for the job last time it was available although that was under a different regime.

Give it Potter until the end of the season. We already know ETH is crap, and there’s still a possibility Potter isn’t. So why not? There’s not many others who’ll come in midseason.

Exactly, tell Potter it’s interim with a view to permanent, tell everyone else it’s permanent. See how the next 6 months go, sack him if it doesn’t get much better and get a very good manager in the summer. That’s what big clubs do.

Potter thrown into an impossible situation at Chelsea that made him a laughing stock (at the time), would be a fool to take over at United now when the same situation could easily be played out again.

I'm not a fan, but if we're giving it to Potter then at least give the guy a chance, ie the summer window, and a new season to go at.

So your solution is to give Potter the job after sacking ETH ? Stick to keyboard mate.

It’s still a great opportunity for him. And by coming in midseason he gets to assess the squad for the summer window, if he comes in the summer it’s going to be clean slates for everyone once again. He doesn’t need to perform miracles to then get another year, just show some directiom and progress, we’ll know soon enough if he’s the right guy.

Nah, not for me, it's a big ask to get this lot going again in a short space of time, and if we lose lots of games then the knives will be out for him soon enough, then if we stick with him for next season they'll be a downer on it before we even start, or if we sack him then Ineos will have had a mare already

I'm on the side of giving Ten Hag until the end of the season to see if the takeover and a bit of help in January can see a decent upturn, if it can then the new people will have had the time to properly assess if he's worth keeping longterm, if he can't then no real harm done as the season is a right off anyway, and the new guy gets to start will a clean slate.

Yeah to me this is the most logical short term option. At this point it can’t be any worse than it is with Ten Hag

What happened with Marco Rose? Seemed like he was the next up and comer but have heard very little about him since he left Dortmund.
Took over Leipzig, won a cup and the supercup (the latter was Harry Kane's first shot at a title in Germany - his curse continues) which means two of three titles in their whole club history. And considering that Leipzig is his hometown there currently is very little reason why he should leave.

What I recall from Potter's brief spell in charge of Chelsea was that they couldn't score for shit, so it's not a ringing endorsement to bring him into another team who can't score for shit.

If the best the EtH-Out camp can come up with is…give it Potter for a bit!

Then it’s not worth a thread. Awful Idea.

People give good options in this thread but you ignored all of them and focused on the one that proves your point.

Anyway, at our current sorry state, I will even take you as the new manager. You will probably do better than Ten Hag.

Let's not forget that Ten Hag wasn't even a big coach when we hired him. He was basically a no name manager who spent his career in Netherlands and now getting his first job in a top league to prove if he's actually worth it or not. It was no different than hiring Jardim from Monaco after him reaching CL semi.

Half the managers in the league would be an upgrade on him considering his abject management this season.

This idea that an upgrade doesn't exist is nonsensical.

He's just not a good Premier League manager. Enough of a sample size to draw that conclusion.

Ah, I see you’re still on the fence about ETH. For me, I’m absolutely certain he is not the guy for us, so just about anyone else is an upgrade for me. I don’t see what’s the downside with giving it to Potter for the rest of the season. If he has what it takes then he’ll show it, if not we can cross him of the list and go for someone else in the summer. There’s just no point in keeping ETH any longer, he’s clueless.

Sorry, but that's completely untrue.

Anyone but Graham Potter. You can almost see how it would go before he started. He doesn’t have the personality, wouldn’t command any respect and his teams don’t score goals. It’s a terrible idea.

Lopetegui until the end of the season and remove the stench of an out of his depth Ten Hag. 6 months to sort out the sporting side and a full review and list of candidates before the summer.

Spending what would likely be millions on an interim manager is the sort of profligacy this club has indulged in for years. It makes no sense. He won’t be allowed to buy, the players are unlikely to respond if they don’t fancy him, and he’ll be trying to get this lot to play a way which will be abandoned once the perm steps in.

Unless there is nothing change upstairs with the new partial owners, then it's fair to say what you did. However, if budget and players' availability permit, interim or permanent manager shouldn't change how the new hopefully competent directors approach the market. They wouldn't go out buying a Bruno equivalent to save current manager's ass; nor they're just sitting around doing nothing when Enzo, Muani, Kubo, Bissouma, Kulusevski, Onana... (reference to the transition from Ole sacking until ETH officially took office) moving clubs when their transfer value was affordable because they're yet to appoint a permanent manager.

So the argument that nothing can be done under different directors until new "potentially good" permanent manager appointment, is not really applicable; unless Murtough somehow remains and maintains his passive approach. Things highly likely change for the better or for the worse short term or long term.

Sorry, but that's completely untrue.

It's very true. People convinced themselves he was a genius because he took a stacked Ajax team and did well domestically and one decent run in the CL. I'd actually say that Jardims Monaco were better to watch than his Ajax, but that's besides the point. The facts are that he's only ever managed at a lower level. He was far from proven, yet people want to hang their hat on his achievements there as a basis for keeping him even though he's struggled in many ways with the step up in levels.

Not to mention that he's not even trying to implement the football he had any success with. There's no point keeping the guy.

Why not go next step, next gen and do something new: hire the top 8 managers and just rotate them as pleased. Klopp, Guardiola: offer them 35 million a year. Arteta, Howe, Ange: offer them 25 milion a year for 2 months work or 12 months barbados. Emery, Moyes, Aiola: offer them 19,2 million a year on a 6 year contract. Keep Poch at Chelsea. maybe even slip him a feq quid for services wel done. Just hire out all oppositio management and Ten hag is gonna be king, 6 times manager of the month guarateed. I mean it seriously. Why spend 300 on Kane when for that money you buy half the top coaches of the PL and make them do gardening?
