I mean I get people are not happy with our managers , I’m ok with that , but how can people accept the club has been a mess for 10 years but think if we just sacked managers faster things would of been better cause that’s what works at well run clubs!!!
Well you've been a mess because you've had all the wrong managers, which happens because the people who pick the managers have been clueless.
Most clubs in football are a mess most of the time, punctuated by short periods of time not being a mess, and then quickly returning to being a mess. Few clubs can be winners, and even fewer can be serial winners. That only happens when the stars align and you have the perfect manager who signs the right players and creates a phenomenal team. How many managers in the history of the premier league would you actually be happy with bringing in to manage United right now? Maybe 5? The likelihood of getting it wrong is much higher than the likelihood of getting it right unless you're hiring someone like Guardiola who is almost guaranteed to be a success.
Anyway my point is that the right manager is a necessary condition for a successful club, whereas director-level competence is good to have but not alone sufficient for a successful club.
