Who is our best player?

Casemiro. Martinez the only one who’s close aside from Varane when he’s fit.

Current options: Rashford, Martial, Antony, Sancho, Garnacho. I think all of them can still improve a lot. Add another quality striker to that collection and we look formidable.

I don't think Rashford and Martial can improve as much ability/talent wise. They have to improve their consistency to go from good players to great players if not higher. Both of them have to hit 15+ goals and 7+ assists in the league like they did once. Then have two teammates who are 10+ goals. Then 25 goals spread across 5 to 7 players.

Garnacho, Sancho, and Antony have the higher potential as they are younger and have really good technical skills.

Casemiro and Martinez in terms of ability, football intelligence and consistency they are on a different level. Will be interesting to see how Antony develops also.

It’s hard to say right now as our team seems pretty delicately balanced. We have serious problems if any of our first 11 are out as we’ve seen recently.
No Martial: no goals
No Eriksen: no ball progression
No Casemiro: no midfield solidity/control
No Martínez: no composure in defence
No Bruno: no penetration

you could make a case for any of these players imo, along with rashford as he’s made most of our goal contributions, along with some huge goals for us in big games.

if I had to choose one it’d probably be Casemiro. He’s the one I fret not seeing on the team sheet the most.

Was thinking about this the other day, and I think it's a pretty tricky question at the moment. Don't think we have any stand out player who's vastly better than the rest.

I'd go with Bruno, Varane, Casemiro or Shawberto (only his final form, though).

Most important is a different question, would have to go with Martial (lack of alternatives), Martinez or Dalot

Martinez. He's been our most consistent and available player. He's performed at a high level in almost all of his appearances for us. It's still early days, but I'm extremely impressed with him.

The whole first XI are very important to the team, but I think Martinez is our best player.

Yeah, for me he gets it over Eriksen (more durable) and Casemiro (just a good passer, kind of a ceiling for midfielders), though both of those players have had better careers because they're well, older.

Shaw is our least flawed player, but the upside with him is just lower than those 3 players, and you're still not sure he won't go into a weird funk or get hurt, and also he just impacts games less than the fullbacks who leave it all on the pitch like Evra or Robertson.

Agree on Martinez. I think he’d get into any PL team such has been his impact.

Otherwise I’d say we have a lot of good players and then a couple I think it’s too early to say on (Antony and Case)

Martinez
Varane
Casemiro
Shaw
Bruno

Could make a case for any of the above when on form, though Martinez seems like he's going to be consistently excellent based on what we've seen so far

You have to look for best player at Utd in collective good performances and over the last 5 years say, De Gea has probably been it. This season only, I would say Martinez.

Tier 1 : Casemiro, Eriksen, Martinez, Varane, DeGea, Shaw, Bruno
Tier 2 : Martial, Dalot, Rashford, Anthony, Sancho
Tier 3 : McT, Fred, Lindelöf, Harry, Donny, Elanga*, Garnacho**

*Has potential to be tier 2
**Has potential to be tier goat.

In terms of pure technical football ability, I think Shaw and Eriksen are the best.

When you combine that with other stuff that makes you a great footballer (drive/speed/determination/mentality etc.) I think Casemiro, Martinez and Varane go slightly ahead of them. So one of those 3/5.

I think I have to go Casemiro. World class through and through. Top talent. Top production. He's a cornerstone player and I am thankful they added him.

Right behind him is Martinez. And it's close too because Martinez is amazing. Then Bruno, and I hope they get a striker as he will benefit greatly but he has done an excellent job getting this team behind EtH and serving as that leader on the pitch this team needed.

Ericksen is immensely skilled but he looks worn at times. Maybe it's just that I love the player and worry about him I don't know. But I'd put him right behind Bruno. Fantastic player for sure.

Martinez and Shaw.

Varane will be very crucial in the 2nd half of the season and Ten Hag rightly not rating Eriksen's backups make him also very important.

Eriksen for me. His legs are not quite up for it these days but his decisionmaking and ability to find teammates in good positions is up there with the best still.
He was key to both our goals against Fulham. Such a clever player.

To me the best player this season so far is Martinez, no doubt, always a 7/10 performance at least.

The most important player is Casemiro, again, no doubt. When he playes well we're way closer to win, and especially when he doesn't play well the whole defense feels it.

I think the best players rated by ability in their position are Casemiro, Eriksen and Varane.

But like others said, other things are important as well, like determination and consistency.

Then I would rate Eriksen, Martinez and Casemiro highest.

To be able to keep possession is so important. I think Bruno is a great player, but he tends to lose the ball to much, sometimes he tries to do the impossible. Especially in a central role, that can be dangerous. As soon as he learns to balance the risks he takes better, he is going to break in the top 3. Some players thrive in this type of system (like Eriksen and Martinez) and some players need to adapt their game a little, like Fernandes. De Gea is still a great player as well.

We have quite a few good players now.

Shaw is the best when he’s on it but we know he’s liable to dips in form.
Casemiro and Bruno have most impact on our ability to win.
Eriksen has most impact on the way we play.
Martinez has great consistency and great personality.

Things look pretty good if those guys are all firing. But to me it’s telling that there are no contenders among our attacking players.

If you look at it as who's the closest to being the best in their position in world football, it's Casemiro and Varane easily.

Objectively, based on how good they are in their respective positions/roles compared to the current standard): has to be Casemiro, obviously.

1.Martinez
2. Ericsen
3. Varane
4. Casemiro

Garnacho has the most potential and anytime he has stepped onto the pitch has been our best attacking player. If he'd played more and at the level we have seen him play, would top comfortably.

It’s not easy to find the best player, but that is also because I see us as a team rather than a bunch of individuals for the first time in years. Most goals, both scored and conceded, come from team efforts or failures.

I think the one who has performed best is Varane, but it’s hard to pick a player who is third CB in terms of match minutes for the second season in a row.
Martinez has shown good spirit
but cannot pick a CB who conceded 1.5 goals /90 min in the league.
Martial has shown good signs but plays far too little.
Eriksen started really well and has been a key player, but has shown some flaws in his last matches.
Rashford great sometimes but too inconsistent.
DDG has been great lately but still lacks attributes needed for us.
For me it has to be Casemiro. He still has things to improve, but his level is up there with the best and he our best player at the moment.

Varane(if fit) and Casemiro the only two who are true world class.

Our most important is Casemiro and feel like he is the best we have. Though it tells us where we are as it should always be an attacking player being our best player

Bruno and it's not even close. Compare our results with Bruno to without since he's signed. He's transformed a bunch of plodders into a football team. Besides him we are pretty average, maybe Casemiro, Antony, Rashford or de Gea could argue on their day they're as good as him, and in the same side together they are a dangerous lot. But I'm not sure Eriksen, McTominay, Dalot, Shaw, Fred, Martial, Sancho, or ANY of our CB's would even start for any of the top 6 teams in the league let alone the top four.

It's a credit to Ten Hag that he's delivering the results he has so far, and shows what hard work and graft can accomplish. feck Ronaldo for bit buying in.
