Who is our best player?

The best footballer at our club, considering his whole career, has to be Ronaldo, by far.
The best player taken into account his form this season, is DDG imo.
The best player for us, considering impact in the last period has to be Bruno.

I believe Pogba is our best PLAYER. Myself included, do expected him to single handedly making the team look better when it's supposed to be a combined effort.

I find it laughable that people name Pogba. He wasn't best player in any team he's been in his life, hardly ever even in top3. I think he was in competition for our player of the season just once, and he wasn't the best that season either.

Are people judging Pogba based on Fifa or PES stats or something?

Ronaldo, Varane, de Gea, Bruno are all easily ahead of him based on last couple of seasons and performances for their teams.

Spot on, mate. Rashford is the fastest though:smirk::D

Bruno, Bruno, Brunooooo: don't think anyone really comes close over the course of a season.

Cris can impact games in the same way but I think Bruno is the most influential.

IMO it's Bruno... Pogba if he had the right setup around him could probably reach a higher current level. Sancho as well like he was in Dortmund was brilliant and in the right setup can reach that without a doubt, I've seen enough talent in his moments where it's more of a mental/United being shit as the reason for his struggles. Varane is easily our best defensive player too.

If i had to do a top tier of current level (be it here or what I think they could do in another club), I would do in no order:
  • Bruno
  • Pogba
  • Sancho
  • Varane
The next tier would have guys like Rashford, Ronaldo, De Gea, Maguire, Shaw where I'm not entirely sure if they can be top players again (or at least relying on some hope to get them to perform like top players again) or if they're permanently declining, or just not quite there like the top group.

Has to be Fernandes, though literally none of them have played at their previously-shown top level this season. Ronaldo second - he looked great for a couple of months but badly off the pace at the moment.

I think it’s a good time to revisit this thread.

Right now, who would you say is our most “important” player in the team? Every team has a player they can’t afford to lose for long periods.

Salah for Liverpool. KDB for City. Reece James for Chelsea. Kane for spurs.

Who is the player we couldn’t afford to lose for too long?

For me, as much as he gets mixed views, it’s Bruno. We just don’t have a like for like replacement for him. A very close second is Martinez and Martial at this moment in time.

It’s Eriksen.

You can replace every other player in our lineup albeit with a much inferior version but Eriksen is the only one that’s irreplaceable.

Our best player is clearly Casemiro.

Our most irreplaceable? Probably Rashford right now, but that's more by virtue of how limited our attacking options are than him being brilliant.

For me, our most important player at the moment is Varane. When he plays, we have a calmness and cohesiveness in defence which wins us points. Everything else then is built out from that base.

Our best player is either Casemiro or Eriksen when we're not running him into the ground. I love Martinez as well because his energy and aggression make the players around him better.

I think it's Shaw, to be honest. I think he's the most consistent. As is the nature of United our best player can change on a month-to-month basis. Or Varane when he's not injured.

It's hard to tell, but in a good way. We have plenty of good players now.

Starting from the back I'd say DDG, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Casemiro, Eriksen and Bruno are all very good players. Shaw, Fred, Rashford and Martial(when fit) are more than acceptable. Malacia, Antony and Garnacho look promising..

It is an interesting one and I’d argue we are probably the team in the whole league which would have the most varied answers among fans. Most teams can pinpoint one player straight away but I think ours really is a variety of players. Possibly a good thing.

I'm inclined to say Martinez. Shaw has also been very good. Eriksen is great too but has a tendency to drift in and out if games for me. Bruno also in with a shout as is Casemiro. Dalot can't be discounted either, he has possibly been out most consistent and the only player we currently have no replacement for.

Casemiro is our best player. Bruno is probably our “most important” player.

IMO the most important players for making this team tick are Martinez, Martial, Eriksen. Bruno close behind.

It’s Eriksen.

Fred started over him in our best performance of the season.

Also, best and most important aren't the same. Best is clearly between Casemiro and Varane IMO. I would say Martinez is up there too.

Pound for pound, it’s Varane when fit.

Casemiro next, probably followed by Martinez and Bruno.

1. Martinez
2. Casemiro
3. Shaw
4. Varane
5. Bruno

I wonder how many would have had Ronaldo as their pick at the beginning of the season.

Eriksen just keep pulling in those Man of the match performances, game after game,
Player of the month, everything falls apart without him.
But people be talking like its not him, its not Eriksen, but just the position he plays, as if that position magically provides any player with world class ability

He will forever fly under the radar and I do accept people dont rate him no.1
But the fact he isn't even on anyones top 5 is just a crime.

We're talking about a guy who is only beaten past decade on assists by De Brune
A guy that has been in top 5 assists more times than most of you have gotten laid.

A man who everything on the United team is build up around.

What does he has to do at this point..

Most important probably Martinez and Bruno. Both set the tempo for how we play at different positions.

Of the players that would slot in any team in the world, I'd say only Martinez and Casemiro. And Varane when he's fit.
Although I do love watching Bruno more.

From just an attacking, skilful viewpoint, I'd go for Bruno.

But, overall, I'd go for Casimero. A crucial signing of a top quality, world class central midfielder in an area we were crying out for.

The same applies to Varane at CB - and you can see the difference on the occasions when he's fit and available. But he's just missed so many games for us injured.

Martinez is also a great signing to help with the committed performances and fighting spirit in combination with technical ability. But I'd put Casimero and Varane ahead of him in the list.

So a top 4 of: Casimero, Varane, Martinez, Bruno.

Been a problem for 10 years now...best player isn't a forward (DDG, Shaw, defensive type player, then finally Bruno but no forward), which coincides w the issue of scoring enough goals (75+ league goals is the minimum standard most years).

Once the best player is a forward again (RvN, Rooney, Ronaldo, RVP, Cantona, etc.) then United will be towards the top of the table.

Best player
Definite world class player is Casemiro.
Close to world class: Varane (only close due to fitness issues.
World class player imo: Martinez

Most important player: Eriksen.

Current options: Rashford, Martial, Antony, Sancho, Garnacho. I think all of them can still improve a lot. Add another quality striker to that collection and we look formidable.
