succinct. i like it.

IMO if one team hates us a little less than another team...then they aren't trying hard enough and we're duty-bound to put in a little more effort to piss them off until they're hating at their full capacity!

I love Man Yoooooooooooooooo, Oh yes I Dooooooooooooooooo! :D

I think it is wrong to include Leeds on the list. From what I have seen they are bitter, humourless bastards who hate everything and everyone. Hating us is nothing different.

Bolton, City and Liverpool fans are more selective in their hatreds. I have left Arsenal because I never met any of their fans until their recent success (umm, sounds suspicious).

CLANG!

The sound of a point being missed.

And I can't believe that youse are still peddling this "We're the biggest club in the world and everyone's jealous" shite.

If you can win and lose with dignity you have class.

If you need to refer to "Fergusons book of implausible excuses" every time you lose, you don't.

Think you missed it Jens ....my point was that that using BAYER (okay) Leverkusen and Arsenal as fodder in an undermining exercise was pretty dumb IMO considering overall both sides hammered you almost four times in six months .

There are probably better examples but generally you had better have beaten thoses teams with some regularity before you start laughing at them and pointing out how generally superior you are to them .

Seemed pretty clear to me

;)

Having just caught up on this thread I find myself somewhat perplexed.

I want my football club to be many things, but I'm not sure 'class' is one of them.

Obviously I want them to be the best, to play superb attacking football. I want them to be succesful, and most of all I want them to let me in every now and again.

I married class. It's what I always hoped to find in a woman, and forunately my wish came true. My wife oozes class. As the Gooner pointed out, its a diffcult thing to describe, you just recognise it when it's there.

But do I want my football club and/or team to be class?

Certain players do class things. I saw Rio and more prominately Figo do 'class things' at Villa park yesterday but I wouldnt describe them or Real M, or any other club as class.

Therefore I conclude by saying that, for what its worth, I agree with our new Gooner friend(!) I just wish I knew why he thinks class has anything to do with being hated?

More to the point, your gooner friends definition of class is somewhat dubious! But nice to know your another of our supporters who thinks humility and unqualified obedience of our elders and betters i.e. the great and the good careerists of the dinosaur FA, along with concern that we please the sensitivities of fans of the lesser beings, is the thing to be.

You amaze me , you really do . What is shite about that Kris.

You go round wondering why your universally hated
( unless you'd be questioning that of course )
, you have fans that follow it up with remarks about how proud you are to be thinking that you're bigger than any governing football body ( wow that's big of you , respect there son!), you have a manager and skipper who respect nothing ( please show me just how I'm wrong there)and duur........ you wonder how !?!?

I'll be fair here mate on a purely footballing
basis you have a great side and play brilliant football , and a manager who has done it all and brought you the glory your FOOTBALL deserves. For that I have untold respect and admiration for Manchester United as a football team .

But surrounding those facts are that as people, as a club, you cannot do anything nicely , with some humility, a bit of dignity, you belittle the slightest success that anyone else has and in short are percieved as the the most unsavoury lot in the game .

Of course if you want people to disagree with that all say YEAH 'Gooner git' load of shit , All together now ....insults venacular etc etc ...

Course I could be wrong, however I'm sure a few million others are'nt.

Would you say you are universally admired and respected then across the footballing world.?

Case rested . :)

And what makes you think your answers are right? For all your going on about accepting what other people think, are you not discarding the points we make here about why people admire and hate United? Your answer is A answer not THE answer.

No club is universally respected and admired across the footballing world, not even your beloved Liverpool. And contrary to what you may think, United is often (I don't say always) the victim of media hacks trying to sell a story. Which just plays into the hands of those people who are already jealous of United's success. There are many instances of hue and cry over nothing in the media, avidly seized on by the legions of ABUs, only to be revealed later as the utter shite that it was all along.

Recent examples: the club vs country row (it wasn't even an issue until the media made it one), Roy Keane's book (it isn't even a tenth as controversial as the media have made it out to be. Read it before you comment) and Keane fouling McAteer (McAteer was trying to get Keane sent off. You don't expect the ref to send Keano off for tickling do you?)

Three examples of 'no class' if I ever saw it .

'Mancfan' If I need to explain to you about 'class' and it's inherent quality then you'd never get it anyway.

You actually make my point better than anyone else

You think the one area in your life where you don't need class is in the football club you support , Man Utd .

This thread was about first who don't like you ( hate you) and then as to why .

If you lot as fans feel no need to attach such a thing as 'class' to your club then obviously that quality that most of us hold in high esteem will be lacking in your chosen club - Man Utd .

That is clearly how many Man Utd supporters feel and it shows itself in the clear lack of said 'class' throughout your club .

I can't help it if you feel it 's not important .

Why do you feel that , you're almost saying you actively would rather NOT have 'class' attached to Man Utd .?

Why ?

Do you think it's a bad thing then ?

What's wrong with 'class'

An attitude of 'feck you , we're Manutd' seems to abound and the resultant hatred of your club is surely a natural product of that .

Class is a good quality .

As for my definition - it tends to be associated with maybe when things go wrong - NOT when they go right .

Humility and dignity in defeat go a long way to 'class'

'Confidence' not mistaken for sheer brutal outrageous arrogance is also a quality of 'class' - again something very lacking at OT imo .

I think I've said enough on this one thanks for chatting and not responding with the usual inanity

;)

well, this comes from someone who says wenger has class ... he´s a bitter twat imo

Yeah! Class is also the way they treated Bruce Rioch.

I don't need to chat to the universe , the universe through mediums for example the Web chats to me !

Blimey do you actually refute that then , or maybe you think out here the rest of us are all er ...... jealous...... and deep down we really want to play for the greatest club in the world !?

Again you're presuming that your definition of class is THE definition of class.

IMO, ManUtd have all the class in the world. I see it, other people see it, but people like you don't.

Nope. we're not. There are many many Man united fans out there. you just assume we're universally hated. Coming from outside Britain, I can tell you that many people admire, though not support Man United.

no I think you need to take your hate-goggles off actually

we are not universally hated throughout the world.. if we were wouldn't there be more incidents whenever we go abroad ?
I know many Pool fans up here who have as much dislike for your so called "class" club as they do us

Fair enough. No reason to say that we lack it though. After all, what's self evidently class to you may be completely ridiculous to another. Who's to say who's right?

Feyenoord won the European Cup once(1970), more times than Bayer and Arsenal combined.

Dear Gooner

I'm concerned that you think you're "trying to help" me

As for "Dignity in defeat", well the Arse are more used to that than us ;) We as Man Utd fans are used to winning. We expect to win. I know this breads arrogance, and that our arrogance is probably the single biggest reason for the hatred directed at us but..... I wouldn't swap it for winning less though!

In case you hadnt noticed, Since Arsenal emerged as our main rivals, you've taken on a large chunk of 'arrogance' yourselves.

Although the Prem has started in an almost Surreal manner. Spurs are top for Christ sake! I firmly believe that Arse and Man Utd will emerge once again in the race for 'Our Crown' (more arrogance for your collection :) ) and I look forward to it.

Well I spose at least you admit that that is what you are but it is not the most pleasant of attributes.

Agree to a point but this 'to be a winner you have be nasty ' vibe is bollocks IMO.

Have to say the league table does have a very 'alien ' look about it with that lot sitting atop the pile. It's probably the first time they've been there for 40 years for more than 15 minutes ! ( arrogant!?! BUT tongue in cheek :D )

I think we can both be assured that it will indeed be a fleeting visit to the dizzy heights

;)

I think one of the big factor in the 'hating Man Utd' issue is that our fans are everywhere.

I lived in Birkenhead in my early days of supporting United and hated Liverpool and Everton more than anyone else because whenever they did well their fans let me know. They were NOT dignified in victory, I don't think many fans are. Liverpool and Everton fans hated each other for the same reason. Everton won the league in 1970 and rubbed in their victory - revenge for Liverpool fans behaviour after Liverpool won in 1966. This continued in 1973 when Liverpool won (and for many years after!) It explains why local rivalries are so bitter.

United, because of their wide support, are often the 'main outside' team in the area. This leads to a national hatred of United and unifies the ABUs.

I was obviously upset when Blackburn won the league in 1995 but I don't know any Blackburn fans so I could grieve in peace. When Liverpool win I get 'reminded' by their gloating fans. For that reason I hope they never win it again. No doubt opposition fans feel the same about us. Wherever you there's a United fan nearby. :D :D :D :D

I love Man Yooooooooooooooooooooo Oh yes I Dooooooooooooooooo!

The people who hate us the most are the supporters of teams who aren't as good as us. :D

They might not agree, and will use all sorts of excuses, any of which can be applied to themselves if only they'd take their heads out of their arses.

But they need those excuses rather than face up to the fact that Manchester United are universally the most popular team in Britain, with the best stadium, and now a good few years of current success.

We're hated by some because we are so loved by so many.

Are people still going on this about for feck sake! even if Arse or L/pool were as successful as us in the nexte 10 years, they would still not be as popular or as commercially viable as us. It may be tough on the rest but thats the way it is!

Accept it and stop whinging1
