Who do you think will win the World Cup and why?

France or Brazil have the strongest squads of this WC, IMHO. Germany and Spain come behind, but not for much.

I don't need to give many reasons: just take a peek to the french or brazilian players pool: they will leave players outside the WC that would easily start in any other NT.

France are still too young, Germany won't win it twice in a row so it's going to be either Brazil, Spain or Argentina.

Noone else has a chance.

Who are Germany's best players these days? Who is their striker?
Our two most classical strikers are Wagner and Gomez. Then we have Müller and Werner, who are no typical 9s, but quite prolific strikers nevertheless. Going further wide, we have (probably) Reus, Draxler, and Sané; out of form or less experienced: Götze and Gnabry.

Germany are clear favorites for me. Not one position of weakness and by far the best coach of all top teams. No way around them.
Don‘t see anyone on that level at all. Also most players are just hitting form right now. It’s their tournament to lose.

Argentina.

It will be Messi's coupe de grace, after which he will retire to live out the rest of his days on a tropical island together with his secret best friends Tupac and Biggie.

Really though, Argentina.

Spain. why? because we've already rested in the last World Cup and it's time to show(again) the world how to play football.
A dictatorship, a radical tiki taka that will last 1000 years.
And now trying to be objective, because I think that both the entire squad and a supposed starting eleven have nothing to envy anyone.
The weakness in my opinion is the attack, although Costa, Morata + any player who arrives in good form are more than good options.
There is also the moral component, the state of mind, the hunger to win again, which I think is again very high.

You guys are lucky we didn't qualify to trash you again! :wenger:

France has the most talented squad. But I don't think Deschamps is a good manager. He has failed to find a formation that can make all their players tick.

Brazil and Germany play the best football.
Germany may not have many superstars but as a team they play very well
Brazil I think it depends on Neymar, how fit he is and whether he can find some good form.

Dont know why people even give Argentina a chance, they are all cowards.
Di Maria and Aguero being the biggest pussies.
If Aguero could be as half as good as he's for City, Argentina would be a different team. But I expect him to get injured.

My bet would be on one of France ,Brazil or Germany.
I expect Germany to win it

Argentina for me. I reckon it's written in the stars for Messi to lead them to a World Cup before he retires and this is the best bet.

France, Brazil, Germany, Dpain and Belgium all look better sides but I've had this strong feeling about Argentina for at least a year.

If Neymar is fit, it should be between France and Brazil, but won't be a surprise if we see another team winning it. Germany is still here.

Don't think Argentine will do it.

I can't see any team besides France, Brazil or if Messi goes into god mode for the knockouts then Argentina. I can't see Germany repeating at all. Their squad lost too much leadership. I think they'll struggle like Spain in 2014.
I'd like to see Belgium be a dark horse but I don't think their manager is good enough to compensate for the lack of a strong mentality in international matches.

I think Germany will win back to back world cups since Brazil did it in 58 and '62. They are one of those teams that get better and better as the tournament goes on.

England.... (and Putin will have special polonium champagne laid on for the winners)

Bur probably France though I think its hard to totally discount Argentina as it might be Messi's last big chance at a WC and they have some very good attacking talent...

Icardi, Huguain, Aguero, Dybala Di Maria and of course Messi - the rest of the team looks sub par but in theory they have enough goals in them to blow any team away on their day

According to most bookies:

Germany
Brazil
France
Spain
Argentina
Belgium
England
Portugal

In that order.

For all the talk of a "dark horse" like Belgium or Portugal winning it, the truth is this actually never happens in the WC. There's just too many top nations for some smaller NT to fluke it.

I hope (and think) than Spain will win it since we have the best players overall. The best Goalkeeper a strong and experienced defense with Ramos, Piqué, Carvajal, Alba and Azpilicueta, Nacho, Alonso and Javi Martinez on the bench and you can't do better than our midfield let's be honest! Isco, Asensio,Silva, Busquets, Koke, Saul, Thiago and Iniesta is just sick.We lack a striker but Diego Costa, Morata and Aspas is still a pretty decent attack. If we don't win it I guess Germany or Brazil will win it anyway,I can't see a country outside those three able to win it this year.

Spain/Brazil/France because they have the best squad.

Germany because no Italy and they are always good.

Argentina because Messi and I could really do with ending that never ending annoying debate.

Who is better than Löw? He is an Exceptional coach and had great success in the past.

Generally speaking, something people tend to overlook that speaks for Germany is, that many players come from a similar footballing background. Almost all players in the squad have been with Pep or Tuchel. Basically meaning that they have a huge tactical advantage over teams like France or Brazil, who have to come together and get to know rächt other first. They all share that certain way of playing football with each other. That’s a huge factor for me.
I don’t buy into the France hype. The talent might be there, but they still lack players who give them structure and build up the game. They’ll struggle.

No stand out candidates for me this year. I was quite sure France will win it during last Euro but they proved to be very disappointing, not sure they already have what it takes to win the World Cup - and as much as their depth is amazing, I wonder if their mentality is as good as their squad is on paper. Still one of the main favorites. Brazil looks very strong, and if Neymar has a blinder they could win it, but again - wouldn't be surprised if they collapse. Argentina looks good as always, so who know - maybe it will finally be their year and Messi carries them to World Cup?

I'd love to see a European side win it, though. Spain is rarely mentioned, but I think they have a fantastic team and are among my top3 favorites. Not ruling out Germany too, the best tournament team around, Low could do some magic again and their depth is arguably as astonishing as French. So one of Spain/Germany/France/Brazil/Argentina

I really wonder if Belgium finally turns up and shows some class.
They do? They struggled like hell to make the World Cup and have no balls. They aren't sniffing the final this time.

Martial —- Griezmann —- Mbappe
—————- Pogba ———————-
————Matuidi — Kante
Kurzawa—- Varane — Umtiti — Sagna
——————Lloris —————

Plus amazing others:

Dembele
Payet
Ben Arfa
Mendy
Koscielny
Umtiti
Coman
Lacazette
Areola
Sissoko
Gameiro
Lemar
Giroud
Mangala
Tolisso.

You could make two great teams from that!

We will only win if Fernando Santos calls up Éder.

Brazil because they have the best 11 on paper
France have the best team in the paper imo.

The best way to use the Brazilian players would be a 3-5-2.
Alisson
Marquinhos Thiago Silva Miranda
Willian(wb) Marcelo(wb)
Douglas Costa Casemiro Coutinho
Gabriel Neymar

It will be one of the top sides from Europe or South America as usual. Other than that I have no idea.

You can't go wrong with that starting eleven, it's the best 11 on paper imo, France have an average goalkeeper and pretty average fullbacks.

Spain are winning it. I think a few big teams will make an early exit alongside England.

That MF seems too light weight, Coutinho is too lazy to work in a 2 man midfield IMO.

Don't see it with France. All the hype around them is predicated around folks believing Martial will reproduce his form from 2 seasons ago for France NT and Mbappe will deliver on the hype. I just think Brazilian attacking unit is better with more proven stars and Neymar is more likely to live up to the hype than Mbappe.

Belgium can put an incredible group of 11 players on the pitch. Like to think they could break the domination from the countries we're so used to seeing. On paper they could go all the way this time.

 Wow, that France squad. Might be worth a bet.

I narrowed it down to four teams which are the four everyone else see's as realistic contenders - Spain, France, Germany and Brazil. I think all these sides are of similar quality perhaps with the French having most talent but least experience. I think it's so difficult to defend the World Cup (last time Brazil 1962) or for a South American to win in Europe (last time Brazil 1958) so I'll narrow down to France and Spain. I would give an edge to the Spaniards based on experience, more (recent) tournament know-how and a better balanced XI. They also have that beaut in goal and in games that are razor close and decided on tiny details that can and in my opinion will make a difference.

I'll go with Spain.
