My opinion is that he sold Yaap Stam away from Man Utd just because he wrote some very little sensitive stuff about Man Utd and then he got "fire" out very "proudly" by Fergie.........

Best deal Fergie ever made - 16 million for a slowing central defender was excellent business.

it may be good business, but we are still owe 12 million, wonder when lazio's going to pay. maybe after they won the serie A this season?

Who has slagged him off?

A lot of people, Weaste... When Jaap was here nearly everyone said he was one of the best defender in the world. But after he left suddenly many people claimed that he has passed it and has become one of the slowest defender in the world overnight.

When he was here he was the greatest - when Fergie sold him, then Fergie's opinion being law, some people turned against Jaap, tho 24 hours earlier they would have said he was the best defender in the world.
With some people loyalty is only an issue if the player concerned has the backing of SAF.

What a load of crap. Our defense was in trouble BEFORE Stam was sold, not because.
and Man Utd had to waste 30 millions for Rio to find back the Man Utd's defensive rythmn,I don't think it's valueble
Waste?

I think it was a masterstroke at the time and I still do now. Stam was the best defender in the world for a while but the Stam we sold was a yard or two off the pace which made him a liability. Without the pace he wasn't a patch on Blanc or any of the current defense. If he ever makes it back to the premiership (Newcastle for 8.5 million was the last rumor I heard) we will see that he is a shadow of his former self.
The bottom line is that it was great business no matter how good he used to be.

In 99 he was the best in the world. The Stam we sold was not the Stam of 99.

Really rubbish. When Jaap was here everyone said he was our only world class defender and he has held our defence single-handedly. During season 00-01 we didn't lose a single league game when Stam was in the starting lineup. But just because he has angered Fergie by writing something honestly in a book, people wanted to take back everything he has done for us and every credit he derserved to get?

You really think it's a masterstroke? If Fergie really sold Stam because he thought Stam was no longer good enough, why he didn't do it during the summer, and giving his successor (Blanc) more time to settle? But the fact was that Fergie sold Stam just after the first match of the season before even confirming his replacement! Stam's sold was purely because of his book. Any people who didn't think so is just too innocent.

Maybe he should have added one or two players, but it wasn't his fault that Blomqvist and Johnsen were injured for so long.
