Where do you see Manchester United in 5 years?

I don't giggs will ever get the job without managing somewhere else first to a very high standard.

I just seen enough managers do well now to be honest with little to no experience. Other thing is - all the top managers are literally with our rivals apart from Simeone and ancelotti. I hope not, but I just sense a feeling a very successful time under Jose might come to an end over something very petty (more to do character than football) and we will need a short term appointment and at that point - I simply don't see any stand out managers being available. Giggs being given the Job whilst United at the top is a different kettle of fish to giving him the position now per se! :)

Stranger things have happened but if you look at the quality of manager in this country? It's crazy really and they all have mad money to spend too. Giggs isn't qualified comparwd to those guys. Even as ex players Pep and simeone are both really intense guys too. I don't even think giggs would be the best choice of an ex united player to manage us for some reason. I don't see it in him.

Hopefully doing what's we were doing the last two years we had Ronaldo.....

In five years....

...Mourinho will be signing his second contract extension, taking him up to 2026. We will have won three league titles in the past half a decade and been dining at the top of European football for the past three/four years - constantly reaching the latter stages - maybe we'll win one if luck goes our way, but you need luck to win in Europe.

We'll be right back where we want to be be, but only on one MAJOR CONDITION - we stick with Mourinho.

(I genuinely think European football is going to take another shift (as it always does) and English teams, especially Chelsea/City/United will find themselves in a lot of CL semi-finals and finals over the next five years.

Think it will be at the least another 10 years before we win the CL.

Why; we have a manager with a ridiculous European pedigree. He knows how to navigate two-legged affairs - just look at his European record, it's crazy good. Again this year. Once we're back in the CL - and with Mourinho as manager - we are already one of the favourites.

In 40 years you have won 3 European cups and been too 5 finals.

People assuming that you'll nab one need to get their head round that statistic.

5 years time..a premier league title and good football and being able too compete with the best in Europe would be a fantastic result for you lot.

That would mean 8 difficult years and then a title with a view too winning the European cup.

I think so many people's time scales are mental.
Not just the time scales. There's a sense of entitlement that's really dangerous, success does not come because you're Manchester United. United still has to prove it can be successful at all without Ferguson. Only just the needed extra time to beat Anderlecht at home ffs, if Anderlecht goes to Madrid, Munich or even Dortmund, they're happy if they only concede 5. United is miles off a CL final, and worse, there's no plan to get closer. No director of football, no Manchester united way that's the foundation of long term technical policy, no patience to work on those things. Just a manager who is believed to be a special one because of things he did more than 5 years ago and who's first season has been disappointing, and an owner who has splashed enormous amounts of cash around because of lack of better ideas, but who's in it for the money and don't want to repeat that every year.

And in the bigger picture it looks even worse when it comes to winning the CL in the future. All PL clubs are struggling in the CL, despite all their money so that's not the solution. With Brexit it's not unlikely the Pound Sterling will drop in value considerably in the next 5 years, which means an equal drop in wages for the players and the possible transfer fees. On top of that there's the Chinese clubs that can outspend English clubs, and the PL itself is already stretched to the max and it's not very likely clubs will get richer relative to continental clubs. I don't expect United to be more than just one of the PL big 5, and I don't expect any PL club to win a CL in the next 5 years. Conte's Chelsea might sneak one in in the coming years, but rather sooner than later because it will only get harder over time.

Personally I'd like to see something special. I'm not just talking about winning things, I also want a team with extremely exciting players. I want a team that buzzes the rectum to the extent that I need to go to the toilet when I think about it. A new force with players coming into the scene like Ronaldo. Just something SPECIAL. I'm so disappointed that players like Memphis wasn't all that. Same goes for Martial even though he's far from done. I'm also a bit disappointed Rooney didn't find another level to his play. So, within 5 years I wish to see Pogba, DDG still in the squad with some really hot new signings that will take us up to the very highest top.

In the Northern Premier League Premier division after going bankrupt. Signing players like Jamie O'Hara, Titus Bramble and Federico Macheda, as we bid to fight our way back up to the pinnacle of English football. Wayne Rooney will be captain and start every match. He will have over 300 clubs goals by then. We will be joint owned by Rory McIlroy and Mick Hucknall.

2018: 4th place
2019: 3rd place
2020: 2nd place
2021: 1st place
2022: 2nd place

Players at that time: Rashford, Herrera, Pogba, Bailly will be the foundation. Lingard will stay.

Martial will be gone in two years time.

Rashford will be a worldbeater.

We'll have set a new transfer record again by then.

You are funny.
Try to watch other leagues.
There are three or four teams strongers than United these days and they dont have the same economic firepower(not even close).
The position in the Premiere League proves nothing.
But you're really funny.
We drew over 180 minutes against Anderlecht, we're not close to being in the top 10 strongest sides in Europe and are a million miles from the likes of Real Madrid. My suspicion is that we won't win a league title under Mourinho, I expect City to improve the most over the next couple of years, but do envisage us being genuine contenders again and at least back in the top 3. I also suspect that over the next three or four years that we will get to a quarter or even a semi of the Champions League as well as winning a couple more cup competitions. Rashford will also develop into one of the best strikers around.

Giggs in charge with Carrick as his assistant.
Rooney working in a Chinese restaurant, washing dishes most probably.
Rashford 40 goals a season striker.
Martial at City.
Pogba the best midfielder on the planet.
Man Utd back in the title race but still blow hot and cold in Europe.
Old Trafford revamped.
Woodward is still here, signs Dele Ali for £200m.

Yeah and once he's finished there it'll be upstairs to the brothel for afters... :D

Still in Old Trafford...?

Ok, seriously :D still managed by Mourinho, Manchester United then is one of the top teams consistently competing well for all the titles; CL, EPL and the cups, with the squad having core one-of-the-best players in many positions and superb depth of good squad players, receiving worldly honors and increasing top reputations everywhere.

Rashford becoming more lethal as our ace striker.

Martial, matured into one of the best wingers in his prime.
Pogba, at his peak dominating the midfield with ease maturely.
Andreas Pereira, superb delivery of crosses and set-piece taker.
Lingard, our reliable mr. consistent always working hard and cover us well. Love to score important goals.
TFM, became our terminator in midfield B2B and protects the defense well.

Bailly, one of the world's best CB, nothing passed him. In his prime. Organizes our defense.
Shaw, Our's and England's best LB, fitness is a bit concern, but he always delivers.
CBJ, good cover of Shaw. Quality defending and delivery of crosses.
Tuanzebe, superb CB interceptor, still yet in his prime. Reminiscence of Ferdinand.
Keane, great CB, back home, played with heart. Embody United's spirit.

De Gea, still playing for us and still world class.
And the redcafe's transformation to RAWK is finally complete.

About where we are now. Don't see the league on the horizon. CL? Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft, please pass me some of that. I can use the delusion.

The new Liverpool if you don't buck your ideas up and sign top class talent. Too much dross. I think it's madness when some of you think you can win the champions league - you need a massive overhaul for that

Trying to be as objective as I can, I can see us winning two out of five next league titles. At least one CL semi final should be the absolute minimum, we should aim at at least two-three of those. Winning CL will be super tough and I am not sure any English team will achieve that in 5 years.

I can't ever see the consistency of the Sir Alex era again, were going to be in and out of the title race.

Football's changed, the fact there are currently so many teams capable of beating each other means I see no one dominating anymore.

Apologies to Mickfoley
Giggs in charge with Carricks wife as his very personal assistant.
Rooney eating in a Chinese restaurant, washing dishes to pay for it as Coleen has divorced him.
Rashford 40 goals a season striker, playing for Barcelona.
Martial at City, Player of the year 3 years on the trot.
Pogba the best midfielder on the planet, playing for Real Madrid.
Man Utd back in the top 4 some seasons but still blow tepid and cold in Europe.
Old Trafford revamped. Now holding 100,000 with 40,000 corporate boxes. The haute cuisine and wine is excellent.
Woodward is still here, signs Dele Ali for £200m. The year after a poor season playing LB hes sold to PSG for £5 million, where he becomes a top striker.

In five years, Woodward's Galactico policy will have come to fruition. United will again be the absolute favorites to win EPL, and one of the big favorites to win CL.

Things change quickly in the middle east and Russia, especially with current low oil prices. So there's no guarantee that City and Chelsea will still be our top challengers in PL.

Well, at least that's how Woodward and I see the future! We just need to spend wisely, and buy the right players,

Fighting for top 4, with the odd title challenge.
Not back with european top clubs.

You should do well enough by sheer force of money and rebuilding stamina to win at least one PL title and have a deep run in the CL. I also think getting a CL spot this year would immensely help accelerate the process, so good luck.

We won't win the Champions League in the next 5 years I don't think. I think that's more like a 10 year expectation given our current position and standing in Europe. I'd be very happy with a league title and a couple of FA cup trophies. I think it will be another 2 years realistically before we challenge for the league. Got to take it one step at a time really.

By the same token, I wouldn't be totally shocked if we don't win any league titles and are still floundering around the position we are in now. All it takes is a Summer of poor buys this Summer and then we are in serious trouble in regards to getting the top players we will need to get back up to the top. Personally I think we will buy well though.

I think we'll be back at the top. Would have won a couple of PL titles and maybe a CL. There's no reason why we shouldn't be, we have a world class manager and limitless funds.

Rashford and Pogba will be up there with the best. Lingard, Smalling and Jones will be long gone.

In a long run money always equals success, so somewhere around the top. We won't dominate the league in Fergie-esque fashion, but we'll win at least one (or maybe two). And we'll probably break another transfer record. Plus we'll be a consistent CL semi-final club - similar to how Mourinho transformed Madrid from a consistent 1/8 losers (to Lyon). CL itself is too unpredictable to realistically expect us to win it

No you simply won't.

Stop thinking about stuff like that.

Your not even in the champions league yet and your 5th in the prem..this is elite sport.
I agree that it's strange to expect us to win the CL, but apart from United 2 English clubs won it in 21st century. Need I remind you their positions in the league table at the time?

I don't think we'll have another champions league, just one or two titles and maybe the odd cup.

I think we will still be searching for our first post Sir Alex title. We will come close at some point but fade near the end. Think 92.

As for the Champions league, a Ronaldo-less and Messi-less tournament will lead to an end of the Spanish domination with a greater diversity of winners. We won't be one of them. Although we are bound to make it to the semi-finals at least once.

Jose will leave at some point before then.

Redcafe's transformation to Rawk will be almost complete with plenty of threads about how we only need one player to finally have our year, and open letters to some of our players.

if you asked this question 5 years ago, I think the answers would be similar to what a lot posted, but I think it's going to be a hard slog to get back to the top. It might even get worse before it gets better

No reason why we shouldn't be challenging on all fronts, including CL, given that we as a club are determined to do so. With that ambition allied to our significant resources, I'm optimistic about our chances of doing just that. Hiring Mourinho was key.

I think United will win the Champions League in the next three years.
Mourinho is clearly building a"copero"(knock out) spirit, a team that probably will be better in cups and Champions League than in the EPL..
2 things. Jose hasn't reached a CL final in 7 seasons and we haven't come close to winning it in almost as long. considering how few CL titles we have in our 40 year history, then you realise that even winning even one is a rarity. We are a club who don't really get into the CL, thus we would need to somehow overcome some sides who are far ahead of us, and break the mold of English clubs in Europe (being crap)

Winning 2 league titles in these 5 years and returnining to at least reaching QFs of CL but not winning it.

Jose will still be here and will be turning gradually to a legend here , DDG and Martial leaving , Rashford becoming an established player, Herrera become one of our captains.

Very confident of our future and don't know where the pessimism is coming from.
can't put my finger on it either............

Don't say doing your wife, don't say doing your wife... Doing your...... Son?
Family Guy jokes..... always welcome :D

.

Personally, I think we'll challenge for the title in the coming years, maybe win one (two if feeling optimistic) but don't think it'll be easy and the CL is a huge ask within five years... it's not impossible but there's a good 10+ teams who are ahead of us in Europe currently and I can't see us leapfrogging all of them easily or quickly.

If Jose could stay, I'd like us to build a team even if it takes a while to mature/compete at the top level..... I'd take another 2-3 years of the same (5th/6th, EL, odd cup win) IF it was building towards something, especially if a youngish team that grows together. I'd like Mbappe and yes, I know he's young but the lad just seems unfazed - people may say "we thought that with Martial" but Mbappe looks more than a decent highlights reel.

I think we'll struggle to keep De Gea... would be "ok" if we got Kroos in return. Kroos behind Pogba would be superb.

Mid table. We've had our time, now for a 10th place battle with Stoke
