Thread title says it all, really.

I think we'll have won a couple of league titles and hopefully a CL too (with CL football back at Old Trafford every year). Rashford and Pogba will be the stars of this era with Mourinho at the helm.

After all, it's been the same time since we last won the CL as it had been when we last won it. We need to be among Europe's elite again and I can see it happening during the coming years.

Dining at the top table of European football with a squad packed of world class talent.

We'll have won another 2 league titles and a Champions League but somewhere in there will be a poor season where we finish 7th or something.

We need to trust Jose no matter what.

I don't think we will many league titles given the quality of the top 6 and their managers.

Giggs in charge with Carrick as his assistant.
Rooney working in a Chinese restaurant, washing dishes most probably.
Rashford 40 goals a season striker.
Martial at City.
Pogba the best midfielder on the planet.
Man Utd back in the title race but still blow hot and cold in Europe.
Old Trafford revamped.
Woodward is still here, signs Dele Ali for £200m.

Completely agree with this. I would also add that we'll be the richest club again and back in the Top 5 UEFA club rankings.

horrible, even as a joke.
the rest is not a joke, right?:D

Still in Old Trafford...?

Ok, seriously :D still managed by Mourinho, Manchester United then is one of the top teams consistently competing well for all the titles; CL, EPL and the cups, with the squad having core one-of-the-best players in many positions and superb depth of good squad players, receiving worldly honors and increasing top reputations everywhere.

Rashford becoming more lethal as our ace striker.

Martial, matured into one of the best wingers in his prime.
Pogba, at his peak dominating the midfield with ease maturely.
Andreas Pereira, superb delivery of crosses and set-piece taker.
Lingard, our reliable mr. consistent always working hard and cover us well. Love to score important goals.
TFM, became our terminator in midfield B2B and protects the defense well.

Bailly, one of the world's best CB, nothing passed him. In his prime. Organizes our defense.
Shaw, Our's and England's best LB, fitness is a bit concern, but he always delivers.
CBJ, good cover of Shaw. Quality defending and delivery of crosses.
Tuanzebe, superb CB interceptor, still yet in his prime. Reminiscence of Ferdinand.
Keane, great CB, back home, played with heart. Embody United's spirit.

De Gea, still playing for us and still world class.

I think the most influential factor will be Jose's desire to build something long term.

On one hand, he has massive respect for Sir Alex and the full support and patience of the board with a boatload of money to spend.. this could make him think about a new strategy that he hasn't previously implemented > long term planning. For example, get Rashford in that Number 9 centre forward spot and build a team around him and other talented youngsters.

On the other hand, he's had huge success wherever he's gone and his strategy has always been to buy players good enough and trustworthy enough to compete for trophies immediately. Keep Zlatan, keep playing Carrick etc..

Personally, I hope to see the former and watch a young, high potential team develop. I remember around '96-98 with Beckham et al.. we were getting close (to winning the CL), but we weren't quite there, we weren't the finished article. But it was entertaining and created hope and optimism for the future.

So ideally, I see us in 5 years time with a familiar team that we've seen develop over a good few seasons and just starting to come into its prime.

I am absolutely gagging for us to buy Mbappe and build a team around him and Rashford.

My biggest concern amongst our young players is where Pogba fits in long term. He doesn't seem capable and focussed enough to play in a midfield two and I personally think he's not nippy and tidy enough to play in a AMC/10 role. He's like a flashy Yaya but without the drive.. he's basically a hybrid of Gerrard and Berbatov. Don't get me wrong I like the guy and think he could be "top top" as they say. But I'm just unsure where he fits... so again, I'd like to see long term planning and patience and give Pogba a couple seasons in a DMC/6 role to try and learn the defensive and tactical reading of the game. But as a driver coming forward, powering the team on at every opportunity. He's so good at bringing the ball forward, be it one-two's, running or direct passing.

I'd give Pogba, Herrera and Mata to play one twos with and three pacey strikers to play through balls to.. then hope to win games by outscoring our opponents. Build a super attacking system and give it some time.

If I could buy two players this summer I'd go for Mbappe and Danny Rose and then cut the wage bill by clearing out the highly paid players and the ones who've been given plenty of chances to impress and failed:

- Rooney
- Zlatan (yeah I know he's good but fear he will suffocate us next season)
- Smalling
- Jones
- Shaw
- Fellaini

Start next season with a super young, super fast, quick passing fluid team and just build from there..

---------------De Gea-----------------
-----------------------------------------
Valencia--Bailey-----Tuanzebe--Rose
-----------------------------------------
-----------------Pogba-----------------
--------Herrera--------Mata---------
-----------------------------------------
---Martial----Rashford----Mbappe----

That foundation would have me drooling and then build on from there.

So yeah, to answer the question.. 5 years from now.. with some patience..

The way Liverpool are now. Wanking over a top 4 challenge whilst winning nothing ever yet delusional enough to think we are still a top club and living off the past.

Nah, seriously it's hard to predict. I'll say we'll have won the league again and will be a force in Europe.

Getting interviewed by me over the job they lost

Won the first post SAF title within 3 years. We might get another one within 5

Jose now have all the things in place for his dynasty.

Our financial muscles getting ever stronger with the debt now almost irrelevant. We have at least one galatico signing per year.

Most of our squad would be different. Perhaps only Lingard, Rashford, Pogba, DDG and Shaw still around.

Glazer might starting finding buyers

Pretty much where we are now - in a good season: top 4, but without seriously competing for the league or the Champions League; an average season: 5th or 6th; a bad season: Moyes or below.

Should be able to compete for a domestic trophy or two in that time though, hopefully.

In 40 years you have won 3 European cups and been too 5 finals.

People assuming that you'll nab one need to get their head round that statistic.

5 years time..a premier league title and good football and being able too compete with the best in Europe would be a fantastic result for you lot.

That would mean 8 difficult years and then a title with a view too winning the European cup.

I think so many people's time scales are mental.

"In 5 years" is the key words there, a lot of the 25-30years regulars would high likely drop in performances, many would either retire or left.

And woah.. be more optimistic fellow posters  our performance this season is not that bad, and actually is highly promising in every aspects except one obvious issue "finishing". If Mourinho is still the same winning manager and still in charge, theoretically he would solve that issue next and our squad would then become stronger and stronger. Our many younger players would definitely improve and become world beaters eventually.

I don't have this same optimistic perspective and feelings when the previous two managers were in charge btw.

I think United will win the Champions League in the next three years.
Mourinho is clearly building a"copero"(knock out) spirit, a team that probably will be better in cups and Champions League than in the EPL..

Surprised to see a few CL predictions in this thread given how long it's been since we actually looked like winning it and that was when we had the most successful manager ever, Fergie.

I think in the next 5 years we'll win one and maybe another PL title along with a few FA cups and league cups thrown in there but I think winning a CL will be much much harder. The likes of Real, Barca and Bayern will keep challenging for it in the foreseeable future but you also have the likes of Juve, atletico, Dortmund, PSG, City who also have decent prospects for the future. Depressing but I basically think we have almost no chance.

The dream is probably a title winning team with tuanzebe, TFM, Shaw, pogba, martial, januzaj, lingard and rashford playing all to their potentials

We've been doing similar 5 year out predictions since 1999 and they never work out. Too many things can happen that change lineups.

Think it will be at the least another 10 years before we win the CL.

No you simply won't.

Stop thinking about stuff like that.

Your not even in the champions league yet and your 5th in the prem..this is elite sport.

Get a grip

You will be fine your not going anywhere. You will win the champions league again.

But fergie won it twice..so too say you will win it again in 3 years. ????

You are funny.
Try to watch other leagues.
There are three or four teams strongers than United these days and they dont have the same economic firepower(not even close).
The position in the Premiere League proves nothing.
But you're really funny.

Don't say doing your wife, don't say doing your wife... Doing your...... Son?

PL, yes José should bag you one of them in next 3/5 years. CL, you're miles off!

Winning 2 league titles in these 5 years and returnining to at least reaching QFs of CL but not winning it.

Jose will still be here and will be turning gradually to a legend here , DDG and Martial leaving , Rashford becoming an established player, Herrera become one of our captains.

Very confident of our future and don't know where the pessimism is coming from.

I have yet to se a LVG built team failing so I doubt we we would in 5 years time.

1) Jose will win things and get our boys back to the top - Next year is definitely ours in some sort of success.
2) Giggs is currently waiting for his time - I'm sure the managing United and then being an assistant manager under one of the most tactical coaches and Playing underneath the greatest manager ever will do his patience no favours. I reckon he will take over and be the guy who extends Jose's success in to a long term era.

I would say the First 11 + 6 subs- I can see some of these players involved in a hybrid 442/433 formation with some worldies in and around the team.

Pickford/Schemeichel

RB - Bailey Rojo Shaw
TFM
Pereira/Herrera Pogba
Lingard
Rashford Martial

Rashford and Martial will be in central partnership occupying the wider wing areas in defence for quick counter attacks with Lingard playing as a support striker/AM to both.

Some players like Mkhitaraynpan will eventually get outperformed by Lingard whilst the likes of Bailey,Pogba,Rashford,Martial,Shaw will be battling best in position players. Regularly.

Captain - Pogba the Man not the Kid

I don't think giggs will ever get the job without managing somewhere else first to a very high standard.

In 5 years... one of the top 3 teams in the league consistently and having a very good shot at whatever cups we are in. We are building. It's hard to know exactly how long that will take but as long as there's progress I think everyone will be relatively happy especially after the last few years.

I can't tell which players will really thrive. Only they can tell you that! I hope the youngsters here kick on and we sign some of the premium young players in the world and build around that.
