What's happened to Sky Sources?

They just copy the most talked about rumours on Twitter or completely make up stories to drive people over to SkyBet.

But, as with other rumour peddlers on twitter, people will remember that one time they got something right and will defend their legitimacy till their dying day.

Its recent strategy suggests blatant bet manipulation. Sky sources suggest x player may be moving to a club, Lower the betting to 3-1 to encourage
People to bet, then make a killing when it doesn't happen.

It's a conflict of interest and it's a bit disgusting but what can you do? Just ignore sky from now on and focus on the few decent twitter journo's out there.

They class Guillem Balague as one of their key sources. That says it all.

This. My lawnmower has more insight on transfers than Balague does.

Also Sky Bet once they realized they could play the market by randomly linking players to certain clubs and then slashing the odds.

And also the fact we all have twitter now and can check foreign media channels ourselves.

I remember before that when sky sports announced something, it was more or less a given. Now, it just seems like a lot of guess work.

They realized they can use skysports/skysources to manipulate the betting market.

All "sources" are shit. Best off avoid muppet season, its a waste of your time (unless if you are a muppet).

They used to be THE source for all transfer activity, and I used to believe if Sky were reporting it then it was happening. They really have fell off a cliff, I wonder if they just read Twitter and decide what to pick as a 'confirmed' story.

It all went down hill after a young fan tried to insert a purple dildo into a reporters ear on deadline day.

Years and years and years ago they were good because they only only announced deals when they were done.
Now they speculate and the people speculating are hopeless.

If they haven't announded a deal is done and dusted
and the player is stood next to the manager holding a shirt up then its almost definitely bolox (or at best a lucky guess)

They were pretty concrete 4/5/6 years ago. Gone downhill since then though, they used to be one of the last to confirm stories so when you saw the yellow banner you knew it was legit. Nowadays they're a parady, dont watch anymore but surely their credibility has been ruined somewhat?

They have been with me,
the clubs announce the deals themselves these days.
The rest is just noise, i find some journalists somewhat reliable but i just presume anything else i read is PR almost

So now that's Keane, Griezmann, James, van Dijk, Naingollan (sp), Lindelof, Perisic and Varane "Sky sources" have said we want to sign, within a month.

There's definitely something going on with this skybet con.

Sky have a betting company , Skybet.

They are also a media house delivering news that affects the number and types of bets that people take. Surely there is a massive conflict of interest and I am surprised the authorities haven't looked at it.

Considering that most of their sources are simply laughable nowadays, you have to wonder if its just mistakes on their part, or something even more sinister.

They are linking us to Varane now. If this was a few years ago I would be going full on muppet mode but it's 2017 and Sky Sources are shit.

Simple. Its a media game now. Their "sources" are probably no longer people on boards of the club - since with social media things go ballistic in 10 seconds - sources now are shitty agents who talk shit to get an angle for their own benefits.

As if someone within Real will tell Ballague anything genuine these days - as they'd know he'll spout it within 2 seconds.

It's a balance of bollocks and click bait. Sky want hits more then genuine intel a la BBC style

Sky Sports lost any remaining credibility with me when they started using Football Manager stats to compare players.

They spout too much bullshit!

If you believe Natalie Sawyer on there then we are signing 4 defenders, 6 midfielders and 5 strikers! They actually want that too happen so that they can try and become relevant.

They have no credibility and I certainly don't take them seriously at all.

I can't remember the last time I tuned into Sky Sports News willingly.

Fairly sure both stories were created by Di Marzio.
They were using the FM stats live on SSN. Can't remember the players but I think Willian was one of them. The presenter was banging on that as he has 18 for passing skills he would be the better signing.

I do agree to some extent, however, the limits are so low I just can't see the value in it for them.

 My bad, I replied to the wrong post. I was meant to reply to the post about Sky backtracking on what they said about Morata signing for Milan.

They believe the likes of ballbag and lets face it, if they can get more people to click on their site aint they on a winner. So any auld hypothesis will do.

If they went back to, we have unconfirmed sources saying.... they would be much better.

That was a sad day for football fans and a good day for muppets... Rip, unconfirmed sources.

I've been supportive of Sky in the past and have never understood all the criticism they get because in the past they were spot on with transfers and the most reliable.

However after watching the Lukaku deal unfold in the past few days has shown how far they have fallen. Loads of media outlets were reporting the transfer but their sources were adamant it was just interest and nothing more. Then when we agreed a fee there was still a lot of uncertainty from them. So much so each one of their own reporters had a different story.

How the feck have we spent 129 million?

I thought it was 30 odd for Lindelof and 75 with Lukaku. Even with Lukaku add ons it would still be somewhere around £90million as reported by multiple source.

Sky are a fecking joke.

They're only interested in making money through Sky Bet now. When they report a rumour and loads go and place a bet they make more money. Simple as that. They're not as interested in ensuring sources are valid anymore.

Surely there's got to be a law against being so involved in both the rumour mill & betting...?

Im sure there is. You're basically making shit up to profit from it.

Ever since they have become ''SkySportsHQ' with all that "BREAKING NEWS" bullshit, they have gone downhill. A lot of guessing and speculative news. Sometimes they even push clear nothing rumours on us for the sake of SkyBet.

Still though, every single outlet has gone downhill because they know transfer stories get clicks. Sky Sports are still better than some. If they announce something concrete like 'fee agreed'..you know shits got real.
