What would be an acceptable offer for Pogba?

The club will hold him another year if we don't get the offers we are looking for after the euros. There's no real need to sell with 2 years on his contract.

Ideally 100-120m would be good business for us. No point holding onto a player that's possibly unhappy if we reveive an acceptable offer.

Cash in and spend the money on 2 quality replacements in midfield, and maybe we'll be better off in the long run and finally free of the media circus that follows Paul Pogba. It's starting to get a bit tiring.

Why do you think Pazzaman did what he did? He is clearly trying to soften Woodward's hand to accept a lower bid than what Woodward wants by making him a nuisance. And in turn, get a cut for himself.
A summer ago, we were talking about 150m as the standard price for him, now some of us here will be willing to let him go fro 80m just to get rid of the circus.

This is why Rialo is such a clever agent.

His value?

We bought him for 90 £m in 2016, before the crazy Neymar transfer to PSG in 2017, the transfer that effectively pushed all top players transfer fee started to go through the roof. Is he now worse than then ? Definitely no so at least 90 £m plus the Neymar inflation effect so 120 £m at least imo.

Keep in mind the likes of Modric, Kroos is already 30 years old or more. So the additional sum for being the best CM at his age and probably the best CM in the world in 1-2 years. He's soon 27 years old but as he was never relying on pace or acceleration, he still have 5 good years at the least. So 130 £m imo.

Now his commercial value. He's considered as the most marketable athlete in the world by some:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...hlete-ahead-Anthony-Joshua-Kylian-Mbappe.html

However it's sure hard to argue if he's more marketable than Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Mbappe so it's safe to say he's among top 5 imo. Which means the club would get millions from him a year. His commercial value is hard to evaluate exactly but at least another 30 - 50 £m imho. Just the money we have generated from him should be enough to pay for his transfer already I guess.

So in total, his worth should be 160 - 200 £m all things considered.

Now come the acceptable offer question. It's clear as day that he doesn't want to be here at all, I would minus 20- 30 £m on that alone however he has two and a half year left on his contract (assuming we of course would trigger his extension year) so we still are in total control imo. So around 150 £m is my bet.

I think there's no way Ed would accept less than that. He's actually an accountant and couldn't even sell Rojo, yes fecking Rojo because he thought the asking price was below Rojo's value. Let alone his most valuable asset.

P/s: everyone keep saying Ed, Raiola etc. are fecking stupid, yes probably Ed when it comes to football matters but about money? They're all smart as feck and all are well aware of his actual worth, especially they're the ones that have the most information regarding how much money is being generated from Pogba. That's why Raiola is effectively trying to force a move at a cut price I think.

Honestly think Pogba most recent Instagram post before the Arsenal match was very strategic.
“best way to start the new year “
Posted from his luxury pimped out Rolls Royce. Obviously when questioned about it Giggs wasn’t too happy, but IMO he was looking at the disrespect of posting from a Rolls Royce before your team are about to play. But funnily enough Pogba was watching Islamic videos in the tv of his car. So to some it appears as if Pogba is being critisised for his religious belief. But it’s clearly not the case when you see how the question is asked, it seems like the pundits are more pissed at him chilling in his Rolls Royce on social Media while his team are about to play

£90 million plus a player we could actually use, as little point having just cash then waiting for a bid to be prepared.

He still have 2.5 years left in his contract with us, as everyone knows he won't renew his contract with us, I'd say ask for 150m this winter, and 120m+ next summer, and then 80m afterwards.

In fact anywhere from 120m-150m I'd accept. But definitely not anything less than 120m in next 2 window.

This. Hes an amazing player on his day, but i just cant stand all this drama. Ronaldo was twice the player that Pogba is and even he did not stir up as much shit as he has done. He just said he dreamed of playing for Real, done. All this will he/wont he is getting on my nerves

He clearly doesn't want to play for us, no one is ready to spend crazy money for him and he's running his contract down. At this point I would take a straight swap for want away Rabiot, Can and Bernardeschi. At least we'll have 3 players, whose good in what they do and in roles we desperately need to strengthen in.

Anything, just want him out the club.

I’d snap your hand off for the money we paid. Juventus seem to want to offer us players according to the B.S newspaper stories.

Not sure about Can or Rabiot but they are both 25 and under and have to be better than we have. How about those two and Dybala.

I can’t see why getting rid of Pogba is a big deal he hasn’t done anything for us at all. Been average at best, yes I get he’s the best we’ve got and it’s everyone else blah blah blah.

To me he’s just another Ballotelli I’d swap him for a beer.

If its full cash, at least 140mil. This is in consideration of his desire to leave and commercial value. Anything else, it has to be cash + player who is capable of starting 11.
Essentially, only PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona & Juventus will be potential destinations and some of their out-of-favour players could make massive improvements to our squad.

You can only use the fee that we paid for him as a baseline if you assume that he has lived up to the world record fee in his performances, which I think everyone agrees that he hasn't.

I would sooner get players in exchange for him, because if we got cash it would take Woodward 2 year to do deals to bring someone in.

Man Utd backed to complete Paul Pogba swap transfer with Juventus but not for Emre Can
Manchester United could bring in another Juventus midfielder this month if Paul Pogba returns to his former side.
By LUKE GARDENER

Pogba has been linked with a return to the Old Lady with United considering letting him leave United after an injury-plagued season.
There are also concerns about comments made about the Red Devils by the World Cup winner’s agent Mino Raiola.
McGarry believes Rabiot would come into the midfield alongside the likes of Fred or Scott McTominay to good effect.

He told Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast: “From what I’ve been told Juventus are keen to try and deal and that would mean swapping one of said midfielders.

“Rabiot would be the obvious one, 24, not got enough game time, his Mum’s been complaining about not enough game time at Juventus but would suit Manchester United’s mode of play right now.
“I think he’d be a definite positive addition to their squad.
“Not the same player as Pogba in terms of attacking sense but they’ve got a very potent attack in three anyway and they are looking to augment that with a No. 10 so Rabiot would be the man to come in and sit alongside Fred or McTominay – who is obviously a long-term injury problem.

For me, he's clearly an outrageously talented player. His attitude is a huge question, but when he has loads of amazing players around him he plays well. So he's not some sort of talisman who fights for the team, he's a luxury addition to an already good side. Teams who are interested in him are already good sides. Plus, he comes with huge exposure which clubs also factor in. His profile has definitely increased in the last 3 and a half years. He's not proved to be a leader, but he's not regressed in any way - and won a world cup along with all the other French boys.
[/QUOTEr]

This says it all for me, spot on @Bastian !

Pogba has always been the cherry on the top of the cake type of player, but sadly we don't really have 'a cake' as yet, or the "loads of amazing players" we need around him. Whilst his real (or imagined) fitness is in doubt I cannot see anyone coming in for him, transfer fee aside, the money he wants as salary would prohibit any deal. I also don't want to see an exchange deal where we get someone on the way out, or looking for a 'soft place to fall'!

We have enough experienced players to keep a balanced squad and we now need players under 23 years of age and with the basics in skills and football intelligence, who have shown they can learn from every experience in the first team. We also need a DoF to advise Ole and help with tactics and with dealing with Ed Woodward.

Take anything over 40 mil. Given his wages we'll never get our investment back, and I personally think we're better without him than with him.

Was this done before or after his slave comment?

Anything over 40m!
Thank goodness you're not in charge.

If it’s Real Madrid then we should try to include Tony Krois in the deal...But if such a swap is not possible, and if it’s a pure cash deal then I would say 120 Million pounds would be an acceptable offer considering the inflated market today...

His price is going down every day this continues. We'll end up selling him for less than the 90 we paid for him but will report it as more.

Yeah, professionalising the club is our most pressing issue bar none. I also agree that that profile of player you mention is what we should be targeting, and I think Ole is actually doing that (I hope anyway). If we can get more experienced players (maybe 26-27ish) who have leadership qualities, that would really help us. But it's tricky to attract players at their peak to a club that wants to give itself 3 years before being really competitive.

Juve offering Rabiot and Can plus £40 million - to Juve that's £40 million net as they got both players on a free!!

....so they pocket £50 million and have a player they can sell for £150 million - amazing!!

I’d turn them down. Pogba should fetch 150m in this market.

Agreed, he is actually a bit of a punt for the clubs being mentioned, in many ways. He hasn’t got the engine people assume he has, and he doesn’t post stats that transform a club’s season. He wasn’t worth 90m when United signed him, except perhaps from a commercial perspective.

Not sure any club is really willing to go the extra mile it will take to to get him tbh, he's hardly put himself in shop window has he.

Usually these swap deals are pie in the sky speculative reporting. They rarely come to fruition.

If this is true though, I would bite their hand off. Pogba is not contributing and doesn’t want to be at the club anymore. Getting two good players and cash for him sounds like a great idea. Two good players in positions that we need. Can is a good all round midfielder and Rabiot has real potential as a playmaker in a settled side. It would give the squad a massive boost and there is cash to go out and contribute towards another forward.

That would lead us into the summer potentially only needing a new left back and number 10 which is doable in that time frame and would be infinitely easier to focus on and get the right players for those positions.

I don’t really care what Juve did or didn’t pay for them. If you sold Pogba for cash, you certainly wouldn’t have 40 million left over if you used the money to buy similar quality players from elsewhere.

I would be excited by that, but again, these deals rarely happen, so won’t get my hopes up!

Caf's always been obsessed with swaps, comes from the papers I suppose.

How many swaps ever actually occur? Some obviously, but they're still pretty rare, and a very low percentage of total transfer deals.

We have to get at least £100m given transfer prices of other players. I mean Lille got £70m for Pepe.

£100 million anytime this year, £50-60 million next year.

I don't think that's unreasonable at all. Just pay up you stingy Spanish/Italian mugs.

Not with only a year plus left on his contract. Every year nearer to the end on his contract brings his price down. Unless he renews of course, which doesn't seem likely.
