What next for Mourinho?

He needs a long break. Think he should spend time with his family.

Doubt real will go for long term. he fooled them once; i doubt he will fool them twice.
 
With AC Milan failing to get through the group stage of Europa and sitting 4th in Serie A, I would think Gattuso's job could be on the line soon. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jose take over that role and "try" to bring them back to being a top club in Italy...
 
He got the second best Christmas present. I don't care.
 
Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Real again. Perez likes him and a lot of the egos he dealt with back then, are on the decline so it’ll be easier for him to ship them out and he’s bound to still have his favourites there to wrangle the troops so to speak.

If Faria is his assistant, then I’m saying Utd pushed Faria out for whatever reason (transfer policies likely) and Jose has been working to figure out a way to leave since the start of the summer.
 
He’ll go into punditry for a while, I reckon. Some broadcaster will throw a bucket of cash at him and he’d be a fool not to take it, at least until PSG or somebody offer him a job in 12-18 months’ time.

Pretty much as often as Mourinho teams do, if his tactics aren't modern then Simeone's or Allegri's aren't either that's for sure.

People choose Mourinho not to criticize him personally but to criticize an entire view of the sport and a way of playing which is still clearly capable of succeeding in modern football even if it didn't work here.
 
Can't even begin to imagine why Madrid would want him back - especially without Ronaldo there to score a billion goals on his own
 
He should take a break, do some reading outside of football and gain some perspective. He has to evolve as a person before he can evolve as a manager.

That's what I think he should do personally. He can afford to take a break and recharge, then come back with fresh ideas and a new outlook.
 
Any comments yet on his behalf? It's absolutely the right decision but I'd love to know his thoughts. I wonder if he found out straight after the game?
 
I actually joined the Mourinho-out brigade some very few months ago but I still love the man. He's so bitter I sometimes guess how he fares with his family. Honestly believe he's not done at the top and is still one of the best tactician when he has his type of players.

Great manager, great team. Just didn't fit each other.
 
He needs to either take a permanent break or a lengthy break from the game. I feel sorry for him a bit, I think he has mental health issues to be honest. Many times he has self deflected and the constant media spotlight/scrutiny must be a heavy load to carry.

I don’t know. I could see him going to Everton if he returns to England. Don’t see him getting a top six job ever though in England.
 
If i was him,would take long ass rest from football and rethink about changing some methods and ways of dealing some things. Nobody can take away things he won in the past but think he fecked up with us and wasted chance for something really great. What ever happens in the future in his future clubs, success or failure that has nothing to do with us.

Exergerration. How many players did he treat terribly at United by the way? And please spare us the rumours and media insinuations. Stay with actual facts and comments of players. Mourinho has been fired. Let the guy be. No one can write him off until we actually see he is finished. For now, a bad patch in a great career isn't enough basis to say he is finished.
 
What he needs is a break. Spend time with family. Have some fun.
I think with a bit of cooling time and the right work from his agent, he will be back in business in a year or so.

As someone who believes we would have won the league with him last season (with same old tactics), if not for City's absolute devastating form, I don't think he is done yet. He just needs time off to find his hunger. It will of course in his cocky and dirty style, but I don't think he is outdated.

Maybe I will be proved wrong, but let's see.

And in his cooling time, he would spill lot of beans (from his pov obviously) on how things went south at United.

He won't find another top club gullible enough to fall for the "it was the players betraying my work i was innocent" line and his ego won't allow him to take on a job more suitable to his current level like Rafa did. His only real chance of staying at the highest level is the Portugal job.

We may not see him back for a long time, if ever again!

You under-estimate the power of PR and sales team. They are all there to keep his brand image alive. Maybe we will see a period of lull, but his team would be working behind the media spotlight on creating a positive outlook for him.
Besides clubs keep firing managers all the time. That is where the PR and the agent do their job convincing that the setbacks were because of United or Chelsea rather than Jose.

I am expecting some bits of interviews and other things Jose would give on his thought on what went wrong. All his words will be well calculated words, so that he could get a new job.

I agree and said it for months, I think the turning point was the new contract and then not being backed or whatever with his transfer targets in the summer. He is a snide self serving fecker.
 
Surely he's about to walk straight into the job at Madrid. That could turn into a bloodbath extremely quickly!
 
I think his time at "giant clubs" is over. People must surely be realizing he has not and will not change. 3 seasons max before he pisses everyone off and goes off on one. Maybe he could manage Juventus for 3-years at best as Serie A is doable for him and they can have someone else do their transfers. Very few clubs would want a man who sets you up like a midtable club to nullify your opposition 1st

Even in his prime when 90% of the earth thought the sun shone out of his arris he was still blacklisted by a lot of the biggest clubs, Barca, Bayern and United at that time made it very clear they don't deem his style suitable, the former even appointing a rookie over him. Even with his PR team i just can't see anyone being that stupid, when we got him back and you got him there was still an element of a grey area/doubt but now it is clear to everyone he is just simply a very poor manager in the present day, he's basically the manager version of what happened to Torres.
 
The sad fact is that the guy has better options than us. He's got a nice payoff for a paid holiday, he can go back to London to spend time with his family and bide his time for a top job to become available.

Whereas for us, I don't see which fool manager will want to join a dysfunctional side like us. Poch will be stupid to leave the Spurs where he is a hero. He's better off going to Real if he wants a step up. Zidane quit real, he won't want to come here either. We will be stuck with an overpaid second rate man as we only have money to attract a manager.

The way Mourinho works or plays is irrelevant to the question. I don't like to watch Juventus or Atletico Madrid but they have a certain level of strategical awareness on the pitch, even if their offensive organization is also reliant on the individual quality of their best players. This last seasons of Mourinho are a joke, here, at Chelsea or his last season at Real Madrid. He has only himself to blame.
 
Mourinho is not on a Wenger level of decline although he is not that far away from it. Probably one more big club will still think he has something to offer.
 
I think in the summer he will be the manager of Madrid.Florentino is all about marketing and needs big names. He'll keep Solari there till the end of the season and sack him after they have lost La Liga again and failed to defend the CL.
 
A small part of me will miss him, he is entertaining in the press conferences.
 
Maybe international management? I'd say international football as a whole remains a lot more cautious and restrained in how people approach games compared to club football. In that sense his tactics might not be quite as outdated. Indeed, you could argue there's a few cases of older, largely out-of-touch managers who nevertheless looked alright in the international game before/after a big club job where they flopped. Like Mourinho's predecessor...
