What next for Mourinho?

I think Mourinho should find a job very soon, because every win Ole makes is another stone in Jose's sinking boat.

He failed at Madrid. It's ridiculous to suggest otherwise and I can't believe how many times I read this horrible take here
The bar for not failing in madrid is win the CL though. He was great for us and was hugely influential on our second golden age. Similar to Mancini at City

Had a look at this guys TL. Mourinho FC still going strong. I almost feel sorry for him.

I tried to read some of his tweets to get a laugh at the delusion, but that “hope this helps” that he signs off every tweet with is so infuriating, I could barely make it past the first few.

His posts eerily mirror a certain poster on here, from talking about us not being very good right now, being a staunch Mourinho supporter right to the end, right up to comparing ole and Craig Shakespeare. I shall not call any names.

I genuinely wonder what Mourinho's thinking at the moment.

I don't even think he's watching our matches.
If he does, i'm sure he takes cred in building the team.

Top 5? At one time even SAF couldn't get the better of him. He was top 2 or 3 for years.

Should have said in the European game. When he first arrived
If being the only man to stop the greatest side ever from winning the league and winning the Europa League and league cup is failure than I don’t know what is success.

I see what you mean so let me clarify. By his own standards at Real, he failed. He could have had the United job for life. He made a complete pig's ear of it. Success isn't only measured in silverware.

From now on, I do not consider anyone who puts Mouninho above the club a United fan. I don't care if they have the badge as their twitter picture. They're not United fans, they're Mourinho fans.

If he does, i'm sure he takes cred in building the team.
He probably will, and some will actually credit him for it. However, if anything, the past few weeks have demonstrated that buying players, and throwing them on the pitch together arbitrarily, is not building a team. The only thing he can be credited with is that he didn't stick around long enough to drive off the high-profile players he brought in and then didn't know what to do with.

I think no matter where he goes, he will be judged purely on every game he plays. The man's ego takes over every ounce of skill set he owns. He was so good tactically against big teams in the 2000's and has practically lost that edge now. He has seen the back of 2 huge clubs now and one with which he won 3 titles. It's gonna be a rough year for him but i think he can do very well in Italy. His tactics can fetch him titles in Italy for sure.

He may not watch the games, but he is aware of the scorelines and the winning record which Ole is building, using the same squad which Jose had available.
Jose is all about the result and the results which Ole is achieving, must be hurting Jose.

That’s a fair point actually. He doesn’t care about style, so he won’t be bothered about us playing better football, but he wasn’t getting results either, whereas 6? Wins in a row for Ole must bother him to some extent.

PSG would be a good fit I guess. People say they wouldn't like his style of football there but he wouldn't need to play defensive in the league. He'd have infinite money to get whoever he wants and would probably make them much harder to beat in Europe.

In the absolute ideal conditions (ie letting him buy whoever he wants) I think he still can do well so it'd probably work out at PSG for a couple seasons.

His tweets are hilarious

Seeing how the players have responded to the change, and seemingly more attacking influence inserted into their play, is it Mourinho legit sabotaged the side to stick the finger up at the board?

It's utterly bizarre to do such. But almost seems he did so just because he didn't get to spend an extra 100M.
I think the only deliberate 'sabotage' was when he was using the likes of Herrera and McTominay in the defence at the beginning of the season, which was most likely done to send a message to the board that they should have bought him a centre back.

Otherwise I think he did want us (and himself) to succeed, but he just had no idea of how to make it happen. It was incompetence rather than sabotage.

I still reckon his next stop will most likely be back to Inter.

Long time follower of MikeLUHG. Love the guy, it's like AFTV for me after we win a game nowadays.

To be fair to him, he had a couple of good points a few years ago. Was among the first to call out Schneiderlin a shit signing, and also emphasized that we shouldn't be too obsessed about youth and value all players who play for the shirt. But he has an incurable fanboy obsession over both Mourinho and Ronaldo that he defends them over and above any club including ours.

The LUHG bit fits too. I know the poster you’re talking about. Didn’t he post an anti-Glazer ranting thread or two? Haven’t seen a single post from him since Mou got the elbow.

Beyond belief that a fan of the club couldn’t be getting on board the Ole show and still hold a torch for that miserable bollix instead.

I think we’re probably thinking of different people then  I was thinking of endless wheelies, who has been posting this exact same crap as recently as yesterday. Talking about Ole being the same as Craig Shakespeare, we were crap against Spurs etc.

I agree, I fail to see how any United fan could not be enjoying this right now. Sure there is a lot of uncertainty over what the future holds, but at the moment, things are more fun than they’ve been since Sir Alex left.

"If you throw enough shit against a wall, some of it has gotta stick."

He seems like a total and utter idiot. He has Benitez as the second best manager in the league, for crying out loud.

Hope this helps.

How was he influential? Seriously I get mad at this..

Ancelotti basically did a 360 in the type of football they were running.

Seriously, Mourinho played Pepe at midfield AND still got spanked. That's the thing with Mourinho, he tries these bizarre things no other top coach tries anymore, like defenders in attack, attackers in defense AND still loses. If you are going to lose, at least play the standard 4 attackers, 2 midfielders and 4 defenders like Ancelotti did, and he actually won.

He's definitely heard about it, but i'm sure he'll find ways to make it look like it's all because of him, and not accepting that he really did a shit job.
Hope it hurts him, but not so much that he'll come back better than he was with us.

Wouldn't say they have "too much sense" since their executives, especially Hoeneß and Salihamidzic come across as incompetent currently.

But Hoeneß denied Tuchel because of his polarizing character. He was also highly critical of Ancelotti, van Gaal and even Guardiola. No love for star managers or conceptual coachea. No way he will employ Mourinho, he is looking for a yes sayer grateful for the opportunity, just like Kovac. Stupid attitude but in this particular case it might be the best choice.

When was Hoeness critical of Guardiola?

Soon as you said I thought of him. Less said the better.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46880099

Appearing as a pundit for 2 matches for Bein Sports. An AFC game and Arsenal v Chelsea.

Does that mean he will be with Richard Keys, who had nothing but good words for him?..

also noteworthy in that article that the BBC understand him to have a non-disclosure agreement as part of his severance pay so all that bullshit about being honourable etc. after he leaves a club is exposed somewhat.

0 league titles and CL titles in 3 years.

Sorry, but if Mourinho was really winning the big trophies here, he would still have a job despite his godawful football.

Mourinho was influential because he was the one to break us out of our CL rut, made us competitive again against that barcelona, and steered us back near the top of the football pyramid. That's not to say that he did it all on his own -obviously Florentino's signings and the clubs money were even more influential- but he was the manager at the time. Ancelotti took over a team that was ready to win the CL, and with a massive chip on their shoulder. Would things have played the same or even better if we'd hired someone else instead of Mou? Possibly. But he's the one we hired, and he's the one who was sitting on the bench when we beat the best club side ever in the final of the Copa del Rey, and when we beat that team in their own stadium a year later to virtually clinch what ended up being a record breaking league title and end their hegemony. He deserves credit for that, and there's no doubt his tenure had a massive positive impact on the team and the club as a whole, which helped Ancelotti and Zidane go on to lead us into the golden age.

You had the most expensive squad in the world at that time with Ronaldo at the height of his powers. Jose wasn't a failure but wasn't a big success either. Pellegrini won 96 pts with a worse squad than Jose and made it really difficult for Barca too.

It's really pathetic that he supposedly counts the community shield in a ''treble" that he won at United

Yes, as i said, Mourinho wasn't the biggest catalyst behind our resurrection. But he undeniably was a part of it

Pellegrini didn't really make like difficult for Barcelona. Both league games were stupidly non-competitive, and while yes, we had a great league season finishing on 96 points, by November it was already clear the only way we could win the title was if barcelona had a meltdown. We lost 4-0 to freaking Alcorcon, lost at home to the same milan side you guys brushed aside with ease, and couldn't get past OL in the round of 16. Mourinho took over a team and a club that had fallen into an incredible inferiority complex, and broke it out of it. Again, to say it was all 100% on him is probably incorrect, but he was the manager at the time and his influence was undeniable. He also signed Di Maria, Ozil and Modric. They were all very much his signings

I think a Real fan is more suited to draw a conclusion there.

Before Mourinho, no league title since 2008 and no QF in the CL since 2004(!). With Mourinho, one league title and three CL SFs - obviously it wasn’t as shit as some are portraying his Real stint on here. Getting to semi-finals on a regular basis does something for a club, especially when it has been a long long time ago since the last time, and should not be underestimated as a catalyst for further progression.

What was his squad there, a billion dollars and still playing counterattack football?

Agree with you but you I think you are wrong at one place. Ancelotti did a 180 not 360 :P

I thought you meant Gandalf, who posted after the Spurs game ..

"Even in the first half, our game plan was to hoof it up to the flanks over and over again" and

"We were afraid of the press and played like Mourinho would to counter it".

Let it go man, let it go!
