What is your GPU, and is it better than the PS4's [Weaste decides]

2gb NVIDIA G-Force GT 630m

GTX770 2GB's in SLI.

nVIDIA GeForce GT 630M on my laptop.

Playstation 4 - I meant Weaste - wins.

Still can play every released game in it though.

What's the point though?
I might be 'in the ballpark' with my 7870 but I may as well be 'in a different country', as I have no desire for a PS4 or an xbone. The games I play most are all available on PC, some exclusive I think and none of the games slated for either new system interest me enough to take the console plunge.
The Division came close but EA have now confirmed a PC release for that.

I have a ZOTAC Nvidia 450 GTS on the pc, and a Nvidia GTX 660M on the laptop. Surely the PS4's GPU is better?

Almost same to me. Final Fantasy XV and possibly the games of Naughty Dog and Santa Monica are the only PS exclusive games I would be interested. On the other side there isn't a XBox exclusive game that interests me that much so to buy a console for it.

I think the whole point is that some of us already out power the "next gen" console that is yet to be released.

A console that is surely going to be around for the next 8 or so years. PC Gaming is either going to skip alongside quite easily with hardware being cheaper as the power just won't be needed (as there aren't going to be any games developed to keep pushing the envelope) or PC Gaming will become a bit of a Niche again. I'd day Steam have an opportunity to develop some really graphic heavy games in a few years that the consoles won't be able to touch and take advantage of the power the PC will have over the media systems.

You can't directly compare a GPU in a PC to one in a closed box, for multiple reasons. Firstly, with PS4, both GPU and CPU share the same memory. Secondly, with PS4, it's not running a productivity OS in the background and does not have the problem of going through deep APIs and drivers to get at unknown hardware.

Over the course of 8 years, I fully expect SteamOS to optimise and take better advantage of a PC setup than windows ever has.

The point is though, even 4 years down the line, halfway through this gens expected lifespan, a mid range gaming PC is going to smoke the Console hardware. It's just a shame the PC Gaming market relies on the Console market (and we have to put up with games converted from the consoles and the terrible menus they come with. I have a Mouse, I don't want to navigate with the D-Keys and space bar thank you very much.)

That hasnt been the case with Chrome OS though, which is a fair few years old now.

Android on the other hand is a success.

This is a software made by game developers though with the intention of running games at their optimum. I think they'll do it.

GPUs and PCs. Oh, *name of game* will look much better on PC. What the feck is a PC?

I have a GTX 690.... If I loose... I'll genuinely be quite put out... It didn't cost an arm and leg, it cost me every fecking limb.

It's a modified GPU in terms of its buses and its GPGPU compute, but based off an AMD 7870. Clock you could say 7970M.

Lol, its a 7850 at best. I love your gumption.

The memory not being on the chip but through a bus no matter how wide is not an advantage. It is also a standard non over clocked version. The issue is the CPU though as you agree, the GPU is specked very well to cope with 1080p 60fps with today's engines.

Something the Xbone should have also copied.

Eats it for breakfast but don't tell Weaste.

Not sure why he is even the judge he obviously knows very little about PC hardware these days if he was unaware of any intel chip with more than 4 cores......

I say add Lambs to the panel.

I suspected as much, but then again, I don't know the in-depth information/stats on the PS4, but I got the impression when buying my card that it'd be a while at least before consoles kept up with it...

What RAM is it running off?

Intel Core i7-3770K
8gb of RAM, wanted more but I spent it on a beasting Power supply
EDIT: It is DDR3!! I suppose that's the norm now... my PC pre this, was DDR1, so for me I enjoyed the jump

Weaste is the judge cus thats the game. Weaste has been arguing two things in thread yonder; that PC gamers dont have massively better PCs than the PS4 and that the Xbone is shite.

I think he is mainly right on the former. Not hardcore gamers, but average gamers.
