What is Dan James good at?

The title of this thread is pathetic. Get rid (of the thread, not James ;))

Deserves another season, he'll get some minutes, mostly in domestic cups and coming off the bench in PL. He could be solid backup.

Shaw, Mata, and Rashford are playing around him trying their hardest to not let him mess up our attacks, he's been as useful as a traffic cone.

Cavani needs to come on for him and Rashford moved to the left.

He's been completely ineffective. Doesn't even use his pace anymore.

its actually becoming more obvious they just let him run as a decoy over and over but I think the oppo don't need to commit players on him. I dont get why we are playing a pure counter attacking setup at home

I think this should be his last chance for starting a game. Bring him on if we are cruising the game to see if he can improve. If not, sell in Jan or next summer.

The poor kid has constantly tried to make runs in behind to stretch their defense, but no one bar Maguire seems interested in playing the through ball.

He only cost £20m, nobody expected anything great from him. When you look at Havertz that cost almost three times that amount, James looks like a Bargain.

James has pace and work ethic. That is good for a counter attacking and high pressing team. He should be providing depth rather than starting for us.

He hasn’t scored or assisted a single goal in the league since December 2019.

Very true. Our use of the ball has been pedestrian.

I don't think James is that good but the team is making him look much worse by not even trying to use his pace in behind.

How does he get so much game time? He’s crap.

Hes played about 40 games at United and bar 2-3 decent games he’s been a massive disappointment.

This means nothing without technique and IQ.

VDB might not be a lw but nobody will convince me that he wouldn't be a massive upgrade on James if played there.
James is just so far off the level of the players around him. Even lingards a class above ffs.

I blame this on Giggs acting like an agent or some sh*t

That run in the 47th minute sums him up. Head down with no idea what he’s trying to do. Just runs forward, no piece of skill, no pass, just run quick and hope it comes off someone, anyone’s shin or knee and creates a goal. Looks like a lower league player who’s won a prize competition to start in a game like this. Fish out of water springs to mind sadly.

A headless chicken doesn’t need technique and IQ. Their main job is just to run and press.
What? Of course you need IQ, to realise when to press, who to press, and what to do once you're in a dangerous position. James isn't playing at DM, he plays in an offensive role and therefore is required to contribute to the attack too.

You think he's a good enough squad player?

Dont even want to criticise the lad, its clear he doesnt belong in this match. Braindead management
