What does Michael Carrick do?

Embarrasing how gormless he looks.

Hasn't got the bollocks to influence a thing.

We are so embroiled in negativity right now that we are simply targeting anything and everything in front of our eyes.
It’s as if replacing Carrick with an experienced coach will suddenly see he put 8 past Arsenal.

It’s the manager who is responsible for the coaches he decides to work with and the results on the pitch.

Like stages of grief. We are now onto stage 4. Blame the coach.

stage 5 will be the match going supporters

All we need is to send Carrick a message that he needs to be more active on the bench and talk to Solskjaer. No one will know if that makes him more useful, but people will be happy.

Don't take them seriously, this place is full of scum posing as experts calling everything shit...just to give the impression they re not clueless

Looking disintrested and confused as usual.

If hes got nothing to offer on match day then why is he there?

Much like lingard is a waste of a player spot, Carrick is a Waste of bench space. Get someone in that can coach or offer assistance.

Could say exactly the same about the manager, he sets a low bar.

Guardiola at least managed the reserves for a while and turned out to be pretty good. Carrick hasnt got anything to show for
Reckon he'd be alright if he moved around a bit.

Considering we have no idea what any of the coaches do I’ll play devil’s advocate. Ever considered that he reads the game better than most that have ever laced up a pair of boots and he prefers to keep his powder dry and communicate his thoughts to Ole and the players in a more constructed way than gurning on the touch line?

Exactly. Sadly there's more sense in a kindergarten than in here at times.

It really is just like when people were blaming Phelan for those couple years because he wasn't Queiroz or Muelensteen.

Pass it along to the next guy. Sadly he is not getting any managerial assists since the rest are clueless too.

Evidently he just sits there mouthbreathing for 90mins.

The entire club is just full of useless personnel. Players, coaches, board, scouts etc.

I swear you guys just want the whole coaching team at the sidelines for the full 90 minutes screaming and flailing their arms

From the past you can see Rene's head going like as if he was watching a tennis game. Phelan of course does nothing apart from pricking a balloon giving SAF a heart attack. Even Carlos is out of his seat and screaming at the touch line if SAF is not doing so. I mean even a top notch coach like SAF is on the touch line even in his old age screaming fecking this or fecking that while Ole and his entourage just sit in their seats as if watching the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall.

yes why not? At least the players maybe arsed then? For sure if the coaching team realised that Arsenal was pushing Xhaka on the left and if they had been out screaming at Lingard or James to mark him we probably would not have conceded the first goal the way we conceded.

I have no idea what he does. If his contribution is supposed to be to teach how we can control the midfield or similar then this isn't going too well so far. I do wonder if he wants the manager seat as well? It would be epic if we yet again had an assistant hungry for the top spot.

I assumed he was waiting for a bus.

Ole sitting for 90 min when we're trailing behind simply means he thought nothing is wrong, or he dont know how to fix it. It simply means that for 90 minutes there's no changes of tactics, no adjustment, no special specific instructions, nadda.

Indeed! It’s also idiotic to single out Carrick, as they all behave in a similar way.

Thing is though, in Ole’s first few games in charge the four of them were constantly talking, pointing things out to each other, and showing all the signs that they were deeply engaged with what was going on in the pitch. They weren’t shouting, or gurning. But they were communicating. They hardly do that anymore.

Honestly not sure what people expected out of Carrick. It's been obvious from the very start that he's an understudy to Mourinho and now Ole. He knows nothing outside of them and Fergie (as a player). So his coaching education isn't going to be the greatest and his solution isn't going to be any better than his bosses, because they're the ones teaching him outside of the coaching license courses.

This doesn't happen. Anyway, I'm sure the matchgoing fans will tell you they see Ole or Phelan on the sidelines during the course of the game. And not only during subs.

I am sure people will probably laugh at this suggestion but something tells me that he is the one who has put this idea of signing Longstaff into his head and I just wish Ole could see that this guy is not the answer to our CM problems. He will also cost a fortune due to the combination of the Utd desperation and English player premium.

Just seen the newspaper report and looks like I was right about the above, really wish i wasn't though.

Ole and Phelan are the ones doing most of the talking to the players during the game. Why do people want one of the coaches out there barking out instructions or looking lively. Leave it to the ones with the actual authority to do their jobs.

Unless you're sat behind them each match day seeing how the coaches interact with Ole then there's zero evidence he's doing nothing.

Let's see if OT will set up a dugout cam for us.

Guardiola..?

Guardiola managed the 2nd string Barca team, before he was promoted to manage the senior team.
Carrick (and McKenna), since joining our backroom team have see Jose fired and now Ole struggling.

In that case, he shoudl go to another (lower level) club where he can learn his trade. If he proves to be a good coach or even manager, then in 5 years or so, he can come back as coach or manager.
But at this time, the results show that he just isn't good enough.

They all look dejected and demoralised, all four of them. Vicious circle innit - I would be, watching what we churn out, but it's hardly going to motivate the players.

Entire thing is a mess.

He's mastered that look of frustration and confusion, similar to the entire squad. Notice the longgg slowww blinks now aswell. He probably misses most of the action.

Most professional footballers will tell you the last thing they want is being shouted instructions constantly from the touchline. A manager would also prefer to give the players their instructions and let them digest them and focus playing to those instructions, rather than keep filling their held with inundated orders.

So Carrick sat observing the game and not attempting to pump up the players and crowd Hulk Hogan style is better for the players mindset.

At least he can prick a balloon and scare the daylights out of Ole?

I love it when my boss stands in the office shouting encouragement at me while I make spreadsheets. It really improves my performance.
:D Thank you for this comment

That said, I am definitely also very jealous of Carrick having the best seat in the house, without me even knowing what and where he adds to the game, during the game :)
