What do we still need? Aka The never ending story

If we are buying Olise who is a more rounded version of Amad, we need a new attacking right back, United should be all over Jeremie Frimpong at £34m buy out, he’s going to be one of the stars of the Euros mark my words.

So you sell Sancho, Greenwood and Antony for hopefully £90-95m for all three and upgrade with Olise/Frimpong for the money you receive from those three. The club must sell at least two of Sancho, Antony and Greenwood.
It would be wiser to get Xavi Simons if he's really on the market. Olise's good but Xavi is another class. And apparently PSG are open to loaning him. So, if it's possible it would make sense to get him on loan with a buy option. We'd spare the 60m on Olise and get a better player who can play RW, LW, CAM and CM.

Not convinced by another unproven Dutch Player for ETH, Olise Is PL proven, Simmons may go on to be the player Barcelona thought they had at their academy but as yet I’m still not seeing the level up you are saying he is?

He just literally was the best player for Leipzig and a top 3 AMF in the Bundesliga last season. From what I've seen he is a more naturally gifted player than Olise.

I keep seeing differing stories on what our budget is, some say we have nothing, some say we’ll have 400 mil anyone got a clue of roughly where it’s realistically at?

Anyway we need a butt load of players but but for once I hope we go in to the market with some long term planning. If it’s me right now I’d depending on budget try and get at least a few of these.

Todibo 30-40 mil/loan to buy

Yoro 60 mil

Doue 21 mil (bench option/ future Bruno replacement)

Olise- 60 mil obviously need to shift Sancho/Greenwood and hopefully Antony

Jonathan David since Sesko is out. No idea on price, but just away to enter last year of his contract.

Kerkez -25 mil

Neves- 80 mil ( just can’t see it happening but top Muppet prospect)

We need a DM but honestly none really stand out to me, I just don’t see Neves as a DM in the type of system we would play. So feel like we would need someone with him plus depth for the squad.

Probably need a RB too.

Thast probably over 2-3 summer windows but by that time most will have moved on or new better players will have emerged.

If we somehow manage to get Olise, Neves, Yoro and Todibo over the line this summer then that would be truly incredible. That’s probably 240 mil on transfer fees for those 4 alone.

Xavi Simmons 43 Games 10 goals 13 assists in Bundersliga
1 Goal involvement in 1.87 games impressive but so was Jadon Sancho stats in his last season at the Bunderliga

Jadon Sancho 20/21 season played 38 Matches 16 goals 15 Assists 31 GI in 38 matches or 1 in 1.22

Michael Olise in this season for a lower table team 21 games 10 goals 6 assists that’s 16 GI in 21 games (19 of which were PL) so he has actually 16 GI in 19 PL matches this season playing for Palace
Olise is only going to get better but he’s already 1 goal involvement in 1.19 games

When will fans learn about the club recruiting from BL,
We tried Shinji Kagawa, H Mkhitaryan, J Sancho and M Sabitzer all attacking midfielders or wide playmakers, everyone failed, doesn’t mean they are not good/great players, they are just not suited to the PL.

Pretty certain it's only going to be one of Yoro and Todibo, think latter is more realistic as when Real get involved they sign the player. I also think it will take a herculean effort to sign Neves as reportedly our budget may be only £50m

Another summer. Another five or six players needed.

The club’s unique ability when it comes to having the replace the replacements within two years is unparalleled.
That's what happens when you go into every summer without a plan and make panic signings near the deadline to placate the angry fans

This would be a good scenario:

...................... Onana* ......................
Dalot - NewCB - Martinez - New_LB
............. New_CM - Mainoo .............
..... Garnacho - Bruno - NewLW .......
...................... Højlund .....................

First bench: Bayandir, AWB*, Lindelöf, New_CM, Mount*, Amad, New_CF

* last chance

4 new starters and 2 new bench options are pushing it of course, but it is what it is... But I fear that at least 3 out of Shaw, Casemiro, Antony and Rashford will stay.

Why not keeping that FA Cup Final formation, when we arguably played our best game of the season?

Probably but we need 2 Centre back additions to the team in my eyes. Need 2 or 3 for midfield. Honestly it’s somewhat depressing when you think about what we need and I don’t think it can be done which makes me think that next season will again be a fight for top 6.

This whole budget thing is a bit of a conundrum as I’m sure I had read that due to the investment/ buy in we would be given a free year basically free of ffp restrictions. Maybe that only counts if it’s a full buy out.

I’m hoping this ”50 mil” is just the usual scare mongering to get clicks, but if it’s true won’t be a very muppety summer.

Yeah we definitely need two CB's, wouldn’t be against keeping Amrabat as one of the midfielders and going for Onana/Fofana. Yes Neves would be ideal but like you say money looks tight

Why do we suddenly want to keep Amrabat? He would cost 21m and that money could be needed elsewhere. He didn't impress at all, is not young (no resale value) and not tall either. I don't know what he can offer. With the same money I'd rather sign a young talented DM like Lucas Gourna-Douath or Ezequiel Fernandez.

Three players who could all be realistic targets, all in key positions where we need to strengthen, all where doing deals would be evidence of us moving away from the stream of over-hyped, overpriced and overpaid signings we've been doing for too long:

- Milos Kerkez: right age, Dutch connection (hmm), adapted really well to the EPL...should gettable from Bournemouth
- Desire Doue: 19 yo, currently at Rennes, fast, dynamic, ball carrier, with a physical edge...apparently available for £30m(ish)
- Strahinja Pavlovic; 23, left-sided CB at RB Salzburg

I'm struggling a bit on the striker front...

It feels like what we need is to get our shit together whoever we’re going to sign, yes I know the window doesn’t open till tomorrow but I’m getting that feeling we’re behind the curve once again.

Hope I’m wrong and it’s just where we’ve been burnt from previous clusterfeck windows under the glazers and behind the scenes everything is in place, I certainly have a feeling that there is and will be less leaks and bullshit with these guys but let’s see I suppose.

I think 2 CB's, CDM and ST is most realistic window, however do worry about the lack of a LB and RW but can't sign 6 in one summer as not Chelsea

Let me be optimistic:

Branthwaite
Anselmino
Locko
Neves
Doue
Guirassy

About 240m spend.

Swop Guirassy for Toney but admittedly that takes it more towards 270m
Yeah I think it’ll depend on our budget.

I think we really need to land at least one of Doue, Neves, Yoro. The top top talents. Preferably both Doue and Neves as it looks like Yoro will hold out for Madrid.

We have more of a chance with the first two as like you say Yoro is clearly waiting for Real grrr

What about a "feck it, we are Man United" scenario

Joao Neves 101m
Edmond Tapsoba 65m
Jarrad Branthwaite 55m
Raphinha 44m
Joao Palhinha 38m
Ian Maatsen 35m
Joshua Zirkzee 34m
Archie Gray 25m
Kyle Walker-Peters 20m
Aaron Anselmino 17m
Patrick Schulte 10m

Total 444m

defence: Tobido, branthwaite, Hernandez(ac milan), kerkez(Bournemouth). 168mil.

although id signed 2 left backs id also keep shaw and use him as back up left back and CB. He can play across the back line when needed. Use him wisely.

Midfield: Onana/kimmich, neves, amrabat. = 170mil

winger: olise = 60mil

Striker: kirkzee = 34mil

total: 432 with around 220 in player sales. With all the sales you’d need you’d have to also bring a few youth players into the squad.. but in my eyes if it means creating a new culture and a reset then it’ll be worth it in long run.

Leaving the club will be: sancho, varane, maguire, mctom, lindelof, eriksen, antony, greenwood, malacia, forson, Casemiro, martial.

Onana and two back up keepers.

Dalot, AWB, Tobido, branthwaite, Martinez, Hernandez, kerkez, shaw, Evans, kambwala.

Kimmich/onana, neves, Mainoo, amrabat, Bruno, Mount.

Garnacho, Antony, amad, olise, rashford. (Bruno and Mount can also do a job here)

hojlund and Kirkzee
(Bruno and rashford can also do a job here).

With the signing of Mbappe do you think Madrid would cash in on either Camvinga or Touchameni? They do need to balance the books. Either one be a fecking amazing signing. Both not even staring for France tonight. It would probably be Touchameni if they were going to sell one.

They aren't selling either, or any other of their promising players. I also doubt they will need to balance their books as they're very responsible spenders usually (Hazard aside in the past decade).

I think you mean Joshua Zirkzee right, but Theo Hernandez would cost £75m minimum, he’s widely recognised as the best all round left back in world football, Milan wouldn’t entertain any bids of under £65m?
I love what your saying but this is not football manager and we are not getting £150m let along £220m for that lot because there simply isn’t the money around to play high transfer fees and high wages.

yes my bad, my predictive doesn’t like his name for some reason…

going off the prices being quoted as he is refusing to sign with AC Milan and looking for a move. That’s the prices I’ve seen for him and Bayern are looking to pay for him.

I think we could get around 200mil for those players, especially if we can get 30-40 for both greenwood and sancho.

But most of these players would be attainable...just cannot get 10 players in a single summer

I'd like us to target some of them that I've not seen us linked with

The problem with Joshua Zirkee, he’s more of a number 10 or deep lying striker that likes to set up goals for inverted strikers, physically he’s a unit, not that quick has good feet and quite creative but the Agent want €15m to facilitate the transfer and the rumour is they are looking for £150-175k wages. That means the whole deal is £33.7m transfer fee £12.65m Agent Fees paid this summer and restrictive to FSR of UEFA and wages of £7-8m per year, so cash this summer £20m for first instalment and Agent Fees, that’s cash that needs to be paid this summer and then Zirkee would cost £6.8m in transfer fee and £7.2m in wages, I see no value in this deal £14m per year on our accounts and £20m upfront, no wonder Milan are dragging their feet?

We are not getting £200m for player sales this summer, I’ll explain why;

1. Rashford ain’t leaving he’s cosy in Manchester and no one is paying him £20m per season to go!
2. J Sancho looks like trouble, Dortmund won’t pay £40m not even £25m however Juventus might pay £35m but we will have to give him at least £10m of that to solve the wage problem because Juventus will pay him max £180k per week.
3. MasonGreenwood is now realising that other countries teams don’t want the grief from their female fans and rightfully so, these clubs are lowballing the club and a deal with maybe Valencia will be done £25m+£5m in add ons however 20% of that sale must be paid to Girona so £20m max.
4. DVB has 1 year on his contract and no one will even offer you £5m because he’s on £120k per week and probably worth £20k on current form.
5. Hannibal Mejbri loan was terrible, he looks like trouble and undisciplined again low wages but no one is paying you more than £7m as he only has a few years on his contract.
6. Casemiro represents the best opportunity to make some money, but he’s started to brief the club he doesn’t want to leave, you can’t sell a player who doesn’t want to leave and we all know why?
7. Facundo Pellistri has 1 year left mother will get is £7.5m
8. Mctominay isn’t leaving not a chance
9. Maguire with 1 year left is now worth £15m-20m but he’s currently unfit and would probably fail a medical!
10. Victor Lindelof might be worth £10-15m but if Jose gets to sign him the club will be lowballed at £7-8m
10. AWB has 1 year and could fetch £17-18m
11. Eriksen has 1 year, 32 years old you might get £7.5m after a decent Euros.
12. Antony - words fail me no one will buy him even if he was up for £20m

I predict the club sells 8 players and loans 1 ; Greenwood (21m), Pellistri(5m), Eriksen(7.5m), Lindelof(8.5m)
A Fernandes(5m), Casemiro(27m), Sancho goes on loan(5m), Hannibal(7.5m), DVB(Free)

That’s a total of £86m add that to the true budget which is £125m and you have about £210m. However it’s important to note that selling and releasing Casemiro, Martial, Varane wages plus these other players means that you could probably add £25m to the budget.

The club would basically reduce the wages annually by £1.5 to £1.6m per week, if they bought 6 or 7 players and gave them a combined wage of £1m per week the club saves 1/2 million per week and adds another £25m to the overall budget providing they don’t break PSR/FSR rules from UEFA and the PL

Now let’s be practical with your ideas to improve the squad they are all very good and valid with potentially £220-230m

New Players in
Defence
;
J Branthwaite (£55m/150k per week)
J C Todibo (£5m loan with an obligation to buy £120k per week)
Theo Hernandez - Never Happening
Wages wanted 15m per year transfer fee £75m

M Kerkez - £24m/PL experience £75k per week )
Midfield;
Y Foffana (£25m/120k per week)
S Amrabat(another £16m/same wages in current accounts)

Attack;
M Olise hopefully if Chelsea feck up (£60m/200k per week)
J Zirkzee or Maximilian Beier (Has huge
(30m/150k per week)

This would be A dream window and would prove beyond doubt that Ineos are on the ball, this would cost £225m in Gross transfers or £135/140m net. The wages would be £950-960k per week, a substantial reduction on the current wages.

One obligation to buy and one high quality loan who’s versatile and can play in multiple positions. The best signing of the lot would be Olise and the team would have a squad that could compete on all formats but still short of what’s needed to challenge for EPL.

A First 11 of ;
Onana, Dalot, Todibo, L Martinez, Shaw, Fofana, K Mainoo, Bruno, Olise, Hojlund, Rashford

Xavi Simons won't come to be backup. It's either him or Olise.

Yep I do agree with that statement, I was thinking he’s more likely as the loan fee will be £10m
I think we have a genuine chance if we try. We should offer a 10m loan + 60m buy option. He'd instantly improve us (especially since he can play barious positions) and we'd save a lot of money for other transfers.

Theo (let me dream), Todibo, Neves, Xavi would be a 10/10 window.

The only outfield-player in my Starting XI above the age 26 would be Fernandes (29) and he would be oldest "important player" in the whole squad (Heaton and Evans wouldn't or shouldn't be so "important" in the upcoming season).
This "Starting XI" players could be together for 3-4 years..........so we could improve some bench options over the next transfer windows or in the best case some academy players make the step up.

STARTING XI
----------------------------------------------------------Onana

-------------------Yoro------------------------------Martinez-----------------------Branthwaite

-----------------------------------Mainoo---------------------------------Neves

Frimpong----------------------------------------Fernandes-----------------------------------------Hernandez

-----------------------------------Hojlund------------------------------Garnacho

"BENCH TEAM"
---------------------------------------------------------Bayindir

---------------Kambwala------------------------Hermoso---------------------------Shaw

------------------------------------Fofana--------------------------------Amrabat

---Dalot-----------------------------------------------Mount-----------------------------------------------Malacia

------------------------------------Zirkzee-------------------------------Rashford

Other bench options: Heaton, Evans, Amass, Amad & Wheatley

I know our "club formation" is mainly 4-2-3-1 over the last decade but 3-5-2 would be perfect for every single player in the squad.

The only outfield-player in my Starting XI above the age 26 would be Fernandes (29) and he would be oldest "important player" in the whole squad (Heaton and Evans wouldn't or shouldn't be so "important" in the upcoming season).
This "Starting XI" players could be together for 3-4 years..........so we could improve some bench options over the next transfer windows or in the best case some academy players make the step up.

if you think we’re gonna somehow release/sell 17 and buy 8 at a cost of 400m in one window, you’ve lost your marbles

Assuming we only get 5 signings.

CB Todibo seems a non brainer to me considering the Nice links. Perfect replacement for Varane. I like Marc Guhei but problems are English tax especially if he has a good Euros also him and Lichi leaves us a bit short of height for CB pairing.

LB Patrick Dorgu 19 years old highly rated at Leece . Keep Malacia as nobody touching him after his injury last year and use Shaw to cover LCB. But also remains first choice Left Back

CDM Amadou Onana athletic , premier league proven. Fofana would be cheaper but not seen enough but could do a very good job also.

CM Joao Neves dream target for most on here but probably wont come because we not in the champions league and FFP issues. Alternative option Ederson Atalanta.

ST this is a tough market because their is a lack of top class number 9s in modern football, which means you will be paying over the odds. Jonathan David could be worth a go. Fairly good all around player and versatile can play either side which is a bonus. Ivan Toney is premier league proven but again way too expensive. Zirkzee is probably the favourite choice. We badly need a ST but I am undecided on the best option.

CDM Amadou Onana tall physical player, decent on the ball athletic
I don’t see what anyone has seen in him to think he’s of the required standard; he’s really basic with the ball.

It’s no secret Everton would want stupid money either.
