What do we still need? Aka The never ending story

Sancho and Declan Rice are must. Signing Rice allows us to play Pogba as CM. Sancho can play on right or left wing.

If possible should sign a CB like Kounde to partner Maguire. Lindelof playing together with Bailly is atrocious and we are a Maguire injury away from seeing what we saw today in the next season.

Rice, Kounde, Sancho would be perfect after taking a billion out of the club it's the least they can do.

Add Camavinga for good measure.

I don’t see how anyone can watch that game and clamour for us spending our whole budget on Sancho. Mason is our right sided forward.

Central midfield and defence is shambolic enough in the first 11, let alone when we have to bring in third or forth choice.

For me, players out is just as important as players in. Ole has done a reasonable job with his recruitment but we need to be ruthless with players going out.

Pogba time and again gives the ball away too often, doesn't work hard enough and only turns on the style in patches. It is time to cash in. De Gea has been a great servant but I would sell. Then there is Jones, Mata, Matic, Dalot, Pereira, Williams, Dan James, Lingard. On top of that Martial and Lindelof have question marks over them.

Young players will have a role to fill in some of these positions but we need to buy quality and that is first 11 quality.

A RW so we never have to see Rashford play there again.

A CM so McFred is no longer our first choice midfield partnership.

A CB so neither Lindelof nor Bailly are starters and are unlikely to play with each other in a serious game.

Gimme those three signings this summer and I'm happy. It ain't a lot but it would make a massive difference.

Yeah If the plan is to spend half of our budget on Sancho I'd rather we get a cheap RW instead like Matheus Pereira or Vazquez to compete with Greenwood and then get starting CB and DM

I dont think we are a mile away but have come to the conclusion:

1) Keep DeGea and continue as we are letting him and Henderson fight it out....but, DeGea is the number one an dshould get morem games, Henerson needs to earn it. I dont think he is ready yet, whether he ever will be is another thing but we shouldnt be playing him as scared to lose him

2) Sign a centre back - None of our centre backs behind Maguire are good enough to be starters or the right partner for Maguire. Lindelof has improved, Tuanzebe can look good and Bailly has lots of ability but rashness and injuries. I really wouldnt be bothered if any of them were sold, JOnes simply has to be.

3) When we signed Maguire I thought we needed two centre backs. We still need one, its obvious. For me the same goes for our central midfield double pivot, I actually think we need two new starters. Signing at least one is THE priority for me this summer, but it should be two

Centre Back and Central midfield are the priorities for me.....but, also

4) Sign a quality right winger and sell Pogba - Pogba isnt that much better than Rashford on the left to justify £500k per week and he is also a central midfielder about as much as Rashford is a right winger. Sell Pogba, by a right winger and move Greenwood over to the left, he is two footed. Just using an example...SAncho £80m Pogba £65m....its a very small spend that benefits the team.

Any other purchases (a second cm or striker would be fully dependant on big sales such as VDB or MArtial as an example which is unlikely so wont even go into that)

A quality centre back, cm and rw I think makes us a lot stronger and is a realistic window, actually not even realistic, its the basic minimum requirement this summer.

Romagnoli, Camavinga and Sancho would be my personal choices and thats a £150-170m spend

Sack off DAlot, James, Fred, VDB, Pereira, Chong, Bailly added to Pogba and Lingard sales and you have a £30-50m negative net spend and then add Rice and Haaland/Kane and then you have a £120-170 net spend and a side that can actually possibly challenge for the title

I agree 100 per cent with you. If you look at any one of those players and ask yourself are any of those players going to come back and hurt us, the answer is No. We have to be ruthless in getting players out. With Phil Jones we need to get rid even at a loss.

To have a realistic chance of winning the PL:

- A central defender, who is at least as good as Maguire
- Central midfielder with same qualities as Kante (but where do you find him?)
- A younger version of Cavani (Haaland or Kane).

But of course that is hardly going to happen in one tranfer window.

Futhermore we have to:
- Keep Pogba
- Keep Bruno

CDM Should be a bigger priority.

Fred McT is way worse than Maguire Lindelof.

Fred/McT were alright, not great. Matic is a fine substitute for either.
Bailly/Lindelof were a complete clusterfeck of calamity for the entire 90mins of this game.

Edit: The only question in my mind is whether we keep Lindelof or Bailly for cover. Lindelof for me.

There's a good chance that Cristian Romero is the better player for us.

Oblak VDS Scheimchel quality keeper
Fast strong partner for Harry Maguire
Two central midfielders of decent technical ability
Right back, willing to give AWB more time to improve though.
RW
Striker, all round ability like Cavani, Kane is actually very good at a range of things like heading, holding, creating.

Throughout the season I've thought CB and midfield are the first to fix but if we do get Sancho it could really help in getting Rashford back fit and flying again.

Quite expensive but if we can get one decent defender and midfielder this summer it would help a lot. Hopefully more.

You tend to come up with this kind of thing and act quite certain and confident about your predictions ,are you in the know of our transfer business by any chance but then again your predictions hardly come true either so maybe not.

feck Jesse off, feck Dalot off, feck Jones off, Mata probably off this summer.

I'm sick to death of deadweight Jones, why has Tuanzebe not been given a crack at CB?. If he cannot take the burden of being our level of cb then let him move on!. Find someone who can do the job and pronto.

I'm sick to death of players not carrying their weight in the team fcuking deadbeat meme makers. Trim the squad of non playing players is critical this summer.

I'm fed up of not having a suitable RW, ruins our attacking play every time. We need an orthodox RW to bring balance to our team, exactly what Gary Neville said on SkySports today regarding the team balance being off with Rashy on the RW and Pog LW. A RW would instantly sort this out for us.

CDM and Cfwd next year.

Aren't you just a ray of sunshine on here!

When we post who we think we'll buy in the summer, we all know we're more than likely gonna get it horribly wrong, but it's all part of the fun.

Not a single poster on here even guessed one of our summer transfers last summer, nobody even once mentioned Diallo, Pellistri, Donny or Cavani.

The names everyone was convinced we'd invest in a year ago here were - Koulibaly, Ruben Dias, Saul Niguez, Bale on loan, Sancho, Kane, Haaland, Thomas Partey, Richarlison, Varane, Rice, Grealish etc

RW, CDM, and new coaches. I mean ffs what do McKenna, Carrick and company do?

Ole has proven to be a great man manager, but all the other coaches seem to be riding for free.

If you're going to say "muppet fantasy", surely we can do better than Pau Torres?

I'll have Marquinhos please.

Ideal but not sure how realistic summer for me would be:

In - Sancho, Rice, Varane/Kounde/Torres, Trippier
Out - Lingard, Bailly, Pereira, Dalot, De Gea (on a Sanchez type loan)

Sancho, Loic Bade, Camavinga or Tchouameni. Is that realistic?
It should be doable considering Camavinga's contract situation but if the plan is to deploy Pogba as LW/LAM then I would suggest we focus completely on upgrading our Midfield with two starters brought in to play there and CB prospect to slowly Displace Lindelof from starting eleven.

With selling James and Lingard it should be. Although I'd prefer Locatelli, if it was just one midfielder.
We actually need two midfielders ideally but that isn't gonna happen I don't think. I think the idea might be to sign a more combative type now and pair him up with Jimmy Garner or Hannibal Mejbri in the not too distant future.

I agree with these three. I realistically only see two as being attainable so I'd go Sancho / Rice (Lingard other way).

Was surprised to see so many against signing Sancho a few months ago but can't think of another young winger who's putting his numbers up in Europe. If Rice arrived and we go the 3 man midfield that's enough quality to win a serious competition.

We have two "combative" players (Tchouameni would probably be an upgrade on Fred and McTominay though), we need midfielders that are better at passing and controlling the game with it. If it were up to me, it'd be Sancho and two midfielders, but I also don't think we will sign two.

Yeah there is no doubt we really need a CDM and tempo controller strong on the ball too but the problem is we have other holes in the first XI and unlike City we haven't got a bottomless pit of money

Sully has nailed it. It's really rather simple; fix those positions and we suddenly become a much more potent unit.
