What did Hillary do wrong and what's next for her?

Bernie has not said he will not run.
He is I believe waiting for a candidate that will carry his message.
Harris has started by pushing single payer.

Joe Kennedy has been quiet. I'm sure he will run.

Still time. Meanwhile the Trump bonfire will get taller.

It's interesting one of the reasons she claims Bernie was wrong about the party included Carter's Camp David Accords yet she doesn't mention Carter voted for Bernie.

Harris has somehow become the darling of the party elites for no reason whatsoever, other than the fact that there are few other viable candidates considering a run. Her best shot may be to slowly latch onto Bernie's coat tails and eventually get some VP consideration....because let's face it, if Bernie runs this time, no other Dem is going to stand a chance.

Bernie's issue was with the middle age/older African American voting base.

Unclear whether they would back him next time round, but one encouraging sign is that a nationwide poll shows 73% of AA approve of him.

I think he will perform better next time (if he runs) if someone like Hillary isn't running since the Clinton cabal tend to hoover up a lot of african-american votes just by virtue of Bill's popularity. Without a Clinton in the race, I think he will do significantly better, especially if someone like Harris is in the mix.

BTW....if Bernie runs against Drumpf.....you can bet the house that there will be adverts suggesting that its not worth voting Bernie since he's so old he may pass away while in office. I'm sure we'll also see a fair few ads "highlighting" his honeymoon in Moscow (although I'm sure Trump won't want to bring up Russia much).

She sums up that smug liberal attitude that has played a big part in the rise of populist politics. This entitled way of treating people with different viewpoints as intellectually and socially beneath you.

A1.

And I'm a liberal (although I cringe at the thoughts of sharing an identity with most of the 'progressive' cretins about today).

I think one mistake the Sanders campaign made was not focusing much on letting people know the work Sanders did during the civil rights movement.

This was a good article i remember reading during the campaign.

Reminded me a bit of Al Gore during his debates with Dubya, at one he followed him around, during another Gore kept sighing/groaning audibly at everything Dubya said.

Reading the exerts it is just more of Hillary blaming someone else for her failures. She entered two Presidential Campaigns as a favorite, lost them both. Once in the primaries, once in the General. She needs to realize that maybe, just maybe it might be her that is a huge part of the problem.

I will grant her that the hate she gets from the right is way over the top, but when she can't hold her own party, she can't blame a vast right wing conspiracy on that.

W. actually had a brilliant response to that

Why the feck is she running?

She's a fecking horrible human being. Almost as bad as Trump and it's painfully clear from the results of two previous election campaigns and all over the web/world that nobody fecking likes her. Hell, her fecking husband doesn't either, hence he did not have sexual relations with that woman.

Bernie can't run either surely, he's 197 years old. From everything I've read, seen and heard from him he seems like a decent guy and I'm glad he remains independent because both the Dems and the GOP can feck off but surely his time has passed?

He is too old really, but then again if Trump runs again he's also very old so the attacks are blunted somewhat. I suspect the Dems could get away with Bernie paired with someone young and exciting. It'd dilute the inexperience attacks they'd otherwise face, and give a good insurance policy.

On a wider note though, it beggars belief how much energy that man has. The idea of running for president in your mid to late 70's in insane. Just the before and after photos of each president show how much of a physical toll it takes on people.

I agree. I like him a lot, but he'll be 79 at the next election, and that's just too old. The democrats need to find a new Bill/Obama to freshen it all up and bring some new identity to the party. Hillary will never win and is also too old. I can't believe if the democrats let her run again.

New poll today:
Trump +36, -52
Bernie + 44, -30
Hillary +30, -53
Obama +51, -35
She. Needs. To. Go. Away.

Also, 57% rate the economy good to excellent. Trump 2020.

She won't run again. Think we all expected her to go quiet after the loss, but that's not her style.

Not true, Hillary would have won in a landslide if the world got to vote.

Would be genuinely baffling if she ran.

The world hates Trump. They don't like Hillary. The poll proves they hate Trump given he got a whopping 14% of the poll and came behind Jill Stein. Sadly some 60m Americans didn't see what we all see.

Plus the feminist vote and the people that would simply never vote Conservative.

Nobody actually likes Hillary. Reading excerpts from her book confirms just what a god awful human being she is.

Well Democrats Living Abroad went for him by 69%. Anecdotally everyone I know thought he was great and didn't really like her.
That's not really the world, is it?

In the hypothetical world where everyone in the world got to vote for the US president, Hillary wins in a landslide.

or 80k or so idiots in those 3 states?

It's a silly discussion anyway - if Hilary was running for 'world' President then she'd no doubt be perceived differently because she'd be running on different issues and different campaign promises. The only thing that's ever been important is her popularity levels in the US.

pointless to blame voters.

last year was a rejection of your 'standard politician'.

Nah, Hilary was a poor candidate but people who voted for Trump, or who would've preferred Hilary to him but abstained or voted third party, should be somewhat culpable. Primarily Trump voters, of course, but those who can't stand him now but didn't opt for the best option to stop him were being silly.

You are missing the point. Its never the voters fault.
It is the fault of the parties. They have for the most part nominated candidates who either plain lied or talked the good talk but could not deliver. Hillary Was a poor candidate. But she still would have won if not for the fact her inability to carry important mid-west states. Its pointless to say she got a lot more votes. The Electoral College is what elects the President.

Trump and Sanders were not your 'normal' candidate. They ran Against the Establishment candidates.
Still Trump 'should' have lost. Fluke.

The Democratic party has still to do an honest analysis to address its failure.
The Republican party is in some ways also a loser. They cannot control their president. He certainly cannot control his party.

The struggle is between big business and people who have been ignored.
