What’s your single footballing high point since Fergie retired?

LVG's press conference.

Last season we were challenging for PL title in a short period of time. If I'm not wrong, we were top of the league in Jan. First time we were challenging for title or anywhere near the title 8 years after SAF. Then everything went south.

City started badly to be fair and then once they clicked, they ran away with it, improving both on their start and ours. We had 40 points in the first 19 games and City had 41. We got worse in the second half of the season, getting 34 points from our last 19 and they got better, getting 45 out of their last 19.

That night in Paris when we knocked out PSG in the spectacular UCL second leg. It wasn't a trophy, but after Mourinho telling us we had become a third-grade club, thrashing PSG was an amazing feeling.

Those few games under Vangle where it looked like his plan finally came together. We played mouth watering possession football, the best quality of football I’ve seen in the post SAF era, and dominated and outplayed some quality teams. Shame it didn’t last longer than a couple games.

Moyes had no high points. The Europa league was meh. Ole’s initial few games and PSG were good more because it just wasn’t Jose, but in retrospect I didn’t really think of them as very high points.

Europa League win under Jose and the subsequent bright start to the following season

I know I'm cheating by listing what is really a period of time, if that's the case I'll just go with the EL win.

As I grow older, my first touch and passing is more composed.

I enjoyed better playing days when I'm reaching 30s.

I couldn't imagine to ever stop playing futsal or 7 a side football when the time is up.

The away win in Paris 2019 felt sooooooooooooo good.

Europa League win under Mourinho. We would have had a league win too if he was actually backed in the market.

PSG away win. So unexpected. 2nd string team pulling off mission impossible. Pogba and evra celebrating together. Neymars face. Cantona and SAF in the locker room. Showed heavy ballz that night.

Juanfield

FA cup win- Messe Lingard with a wondergoal out of nowhere. It was sweet because it had been so long since we last won this trophy.

Only transfer announcements unfortunately. Most exciting of which was Pogba... pretty depressing

When Moyes was sacked and there was hope for the future.

When LvG was sacked and there was hope for the future.

When Mourinho was sacked and there was hope for the future.

The next high point will be when Ole will be sacked, though I don't hold much hope for the future anymore. United are run poorly and don't really desire sporting success. I am actively trying to reduce my interest but I can't help following the club. Over the weekend I took a trip with my fiance and was blissfully disconnected (didn't catch the Spurs game either), but Monday morning I was back on Redcafe. Sigh.

Mourinho getting sacked and not having to see his face again

Difficult one…
Either the sacking of Moyes, LVG or Mourinho…

Got to be the 0-5 loss to Liverpool at OT.

Was certain that OGS would be booted out of the club but sadly that isn’t the case.

Brighton getting promoted to the premiership :)

Appointing Ole as caretaker. Seriously, it was amazing to have a club legend become manager.

Football in general, two tings, Italy winning the Euros, Modric winning the Ballon d'Or.

The EL since it's a trophy and we completed the whole set of euro trophies. The FA cup was sweet especially because of how much of a twat Padrew was

League Cup with Ibra
Fa cup with jesse's volley
Lvg launching Rashford (that game when Martial got injured)
PSG comeback(was first time in ages we do a united comeback in the CL if i remember correctly)
Rooney breaking Sir Bobby's record(legend)
Mourinho getting sacked(toxic end)

Champions League final 13 (technically a week before SAF retirement). To put it into context:

I live in a country where teams hardly ever reach the Champions League so I started supporting Bayern at 8 due to my older brother supporting Manchester United during that final in '99. Although Bayern lost I never waivered - this was my team. I was still only 10 when Bayern got redemption in 2001. Then there was complete darkness. Little did I know that the team was finished, 01 was the last hooray.

- Finishing bottom in the group with a measly 2 points 02/03. Lens finished third with 8 points...
- Getting regularly beat by the top dogs like Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea
- Getting trashed by the elite like AC Milan 4-1 or Barcelona 4-0
- Hitzfeld, one of our greatest managers ever, left due to burn out in 2004
- Captain Michael Ballack getting fed up with the team ended up leaving for free, similar to if Lampard in his pomp had left for free
- Finishing 4th in the Bundesliga in 06-07 thus missing out on UCL and playing the Uefa Cup (todays Europa League)
- Getting thrashed in the semi finals by Zenit with 4-0
- Living through a year of Klinsmann, our Moyes
- Never getting past QF for a decade
- UCL-final loss against Inter 2010. Heartbreak but perhaps the better team just won
- UCL-final loss against Chelsea at home 2012. Heartbreak, the better team definitely lost

So basically I started supporting the team as they entered their dark ages similar to what Liverpool, AC Milan or Manchester United went through (and Barcelona currently are going through, imagine starting to support them in 2016!)

Bonus: WC 14 when Germany (half of Bayerns XI) won beating an incredible Argentina team including prime Messi, Agüero, di Maria, Higuain, Mascherano, Lavezzi, Garay, Zabaleta. I believe Schweinsteiger must have made some kind of pact with the devil after the UCL-loss 2012 because after the UCL 13 and WC 14 his legs just went over night.

Paris was a truly beautiful moment, pure joy and a fluke I wish never happened considered we wasted so much time and money with Ole afterwards.

loved the EL win as I watched it in a bar surrounded mainly by Ajax fans, went to that game absolutely knowing we’ll take the trophy and so we did, not even breaking much sweat.

That run under LVG when we bossed a few big teams in a row. I still think LVG was on the right track on the pitch, but our recruitment was awful in that period.
this, juanfield and the spurs and city thrashings (?) while we ended Arsenal's unbeaten run with our kids in 2016. the horny comment and him collapsing on the touchline was funny as hell too

Unfortunately every high point has been followed by a low point.

We need consistency - on the high points rather than the low ones

Europa League win. Biggest trophy we've won since SAF.

Paris away 2019.

Next to that seeing Ronaldo come home is up there for me, shame we can't mount a title challenge with him in the team.

Self explanatory. Next what, if we had Di Maria, Herrera, Shaw under Moyes, we would have won CL?

Also every manager was backed.
Not Mourinho. Not the way he should have been after winning EL. Not the way trophyless fan favorites are backed.

Also where on earth have I mentioned Moyes? Talk about putting words in the mouth.:wenger:

Yeah, shame we didn't sign Perisic, who was the difference between us winning league and finishing second.

Lets go with Mou fans logic, Ole wasn't backed. He wanted Bellingham, Haaland and we didn't sign both. We would be winning World cup, PL, CL, IPL, PSL, La Liga had we signed both of them. Ole wasn't backed.

Had we signed King, we would have won Bundesliga too.

I was pretty excited when we signed Di Maria and Falcao.

PSG away was magical (the one with the penalty in the last minute).

Signing Ronaldo was a fantastic feeling.

Pretty sad for 8.25 season.

As someone that gets annoyed with how often our social media team post about that win over PSG because it makes us seem small time I''m sad to see so many people list it here. They gifted us 3 goals and it amounted to nothing. It was great to win but it's not something to keep bragging about.

It's "only" the FA cup, but I really enjoyed winning that after Pardew's little dance on the sidelines. What a twat, delighted we took it away from him.

The single greatest moment was probably Lingard’s volley to win the FA cup. However, it was tainted by the feeling that LVG was about to be sacked.

I think all of our trophy wins post SAF have had a greater feeling of relief rather than ecstasy. The Palace win was a shaky performance. We rode our luck against Southampton in the League Cup. The Europa League win was more about CL qualification and it felt like we had just scraped through against teams we should have beaten comfortably and then beat a young Ajax team with our experience and by playing direct to Fellaini.

In terms of spells I think the LVG period when we actually played some decent football was one of the best. Beating Liverpool at Anfield, beating City 4-2. There was also some optimism at that time too as this was pre Pep and Klopp but a bad transfer window took us in the wrong direction to tumescent football.

Under Jose, the first season was a bit of a mess despite the cup success. The second season was much better in the league but we looked well off Pep’s city. The highlight was probably beating City at the Etihad and we had a good cup run to the final.

Ole’s given me the most highs. His caretaker period was an incredible spell. A winning streak in the league, away wins at Arsenal and Chelsea in the FA Cup, winning in Paris. It was incredible. Since then, we have had far more enjoyable games and results than we did with the previous managers. The win against Roma last season, wins at the Etihad, a record number of comebacks, two big wins against Leeds…but ultimately it needs to lead to something.

The post lockdown spell of playing 4-3-3 was great stuff and going top of the table last December was when the mood has probably been at its best but we are a long way from that right now.

The FA Cup win was fun but I think the Martial winner late in the semi versus Everton is high on the list for me

1. The FA Cup because it was first main trophy post Fergie, it was a real Joy.
2. E.L under Jose for sure.
3. Signing back CR7.
4. Ole sacking on the waiting list..
