Westminster Politics

I suspect any public feelings one way or the other will be affected by the reported £100B or so Truss will 'handout' to the nation to cover energy costs, by the time we have to pay it back she will be long gone. Can't help but feel she has landed on her feet here!
What was Napoleon's comment that he would rather have 'lucky' Generals than good ones?

Yes exactly. Well said.

Its worrying but when you look at her political career, being in the right place at the right time so many times... has to be more than dumb luck...doesn't it?
She strikes me as someone who's literally just the face, and someone else makes the decisions.

Yes, either that or her contemporaries/competitors down the line, perhaps took one look and thought, she's no challenge, then a short time later she sails by them/overtakes with the prize in her grasp... Rishi must be having such feelings right about now!

Corrected that for you, as the handout is to them so they get to keep their horrific profit levels.

Sorry, I thought we had to pay back to the Government, not to the companies, they have already made their profits, thanks to Mr Putin

Government caps are hat we pay, pays the companies the difference with public money, then we pay the companies back with increased ‘supplements’ o our bills for the next two decades.

Surely these companies should be reclassified as war profiteers!

Yes of course. She is obviously not as dumb as soon insinuate.
And I would assume that she might make an adequate PM. Bearing in mind the way the parliamentary system works.
But like many, I do wonder about her intellectual capability and how she might cope with all of the conflicting pressures and all of the vested interests that will try to force their wishes on her.

House of cards shit

If she scraps the sugar tax, she'll have done more to win my vote than Starmer.

Bruh…have you tasted the likes of lucozade and Ribena compared to what it was pre-sugar tax?

Had to buy some lucozade recently...it was a pick-me-up to help the misses to do the housework (only kidding!) and I took a swig myself and thought this doesn't taste like it used to do?
So, the sugar tax explains it... thanks, @Sara125, you learn something every day... even at my age!

That still exists:eek:? Must not have seen it in 25 years, loved it as a kid.
The best thing about having kids is you have an excuse to buy this kind of stuff. Ribena, Capri suns, every sweetie ever invented...

its a plan anyway, make everyone fat again and they wont feel the cold when they cant afford to turn the heating on. 4D chess
