Pogue Mahone
Closet Gooner.
Well yes, which is one of my biggest grievances with Corbyn. I'm just trying to look at the bigger picture now though for the sake of my stress levels.
I feel your pain.

Oh dear
Would have been nice if they'd interrupted their enemy before they made this particular mistake. Which was kind of, you know, their job?
You referring to the referendum or subsequent Tory actions?
If the latter they had no control and so have taken the tactical decision to push only on winnable positions (EU citizens rights). Even the PLP have come to terms with it working during the election.
Good news, the magic money tree is back. Turns out you just need to believe there might be a talking snake in it, telling you how good the apples are.

Next time young people are told you can't just get free education as we all have to live within our means, the Tories can explain why their cling-to-power fund does not extend to them.
Don't worry, the media figures who repeated the 'magic money tree' line like they were a hospital radio DJ who just spent £50 on some new jingles, will definitely bring this deal up when they propose spending cuts and the importance of living within our means. Definitely, definitely.Thundercnuts. Should be uproar about this. Bunch of arse holes!

Nah, they'd only get means-tested.The DUP should have held out for more money.
Oh dear
As I'm Northern Irish, I'm obviously encouraged by any further investment in our backwater economy. Can't say it's particularly fair on the rest of the UK, nor (on paper) does it seem right to buy yourself a government like they have.
For context, I have no love for the DUP and would never vote for them (bar issues on partition). But more money for this place isn't to be sniffed at. Thankfully (as expected), they've left their social policies for back at home for us to put up with.
Enjoy your hover buses and bullet trains.

It would be completely out of order to allow one party to control all that money. The problem we have currently is we don't even have an Assembley to agree these things anyway.I use the York St Interchange every day so getting that sorted will literally make my life in the mornings a little bit better but if I were from the rest of the UK I'd be absolutely furious. Leaving the rights and wrongs of NI getting this extra money aside the fact that the DUP have, by themselves, been allowed to decide where to allocate this extra funding without any input from the rest of the parties here is in itself a bit of a circumvention of the Good Friday Agreement surely? I'm from the North West originally so whereas I'll be happy with the York Street junction getting sorted in Belfast if the A5 doesn't get it's long over due upgrade out of this and other projects west of the Bann it will start to look like the DUP are shamelessly pouring money into their own constituencies. Devil will be in the details I suppose.

True but the funding is also contingent on getting the Assembly up and running again so it'll be interesting to see which parties take which departments if/when they get their acts together. Sinn Fein had health, finance and infrastructure last time round which is where most of the new money will go so it'll be interesting how it shapes up.
There's always the possibility though that Sinn Fein will refuse to cooperate for as long as the DUP have this influence over UK government. It's an understandable argument too; the government is supposed to be impartial and neutral in dealing with the current Stormont crisis, but it inherently cannot be when it is literally relying on one of the major Northern Irish parties to remain in government.
They should have paid another £10m and signed Kane.
Already looking forward to negotiating my fee with the local Tory candidate when they come door knocking again. In fairness that's only £100m a vote.
He's a bit dilusional.
Also.. he's going to upset a lot of his electorate who work in the factories that are reliant upon Trident.
Will probably lower the voting age to compensate.
Yeah. He's personally for nuclear disablement though, so he may be under some kind of illusion that he can force through his own will and it will fly with his party and his constituents because he's currently flying high. Those in Barrow and the Clyde will not be happy when their main source of income is gone. He has said that he will replace the work with other work but who can guarantee that will happen. I think it's very admirable to stick to your guns on personal issues but they have to be put aside if the rest of your party dont agree. Parliament voted 472-117 in favour of renewing Trident last year, with 140 labour MPs voting against the will of him. He's in dreamland if he believes that he will be able to scrap Trident under those circumstances. Also, it's already had the vote. We cant just keep having vote after vote until we achieve the favourable result.Wasn't labours official line to stick with it?
