Wesley Sneijder

Them saying he is not for sale means diddly squat. If we said it about one of our players we'd still be worried.

It's hardly about optimism. I'm fine if the club doesn't sign any player. But the fact is I find it really irritating that You, Devilish etc. also seem to bring out "there is no value in the market" jokes whenever there is a negative report on the transfers. The joke is pathetic, embarrassing and frankly has been used countless times since the last two years.

I seriously don't know why this value approach is being mocked by some of the members here as it has served quite well.

We've known that CM has been a problem for over 2 years. I find it hard to believe that our club's response to such weakness were two transfers (Sneijder and Nasri) with a very low completion success rate. Mind you if the club believes that we have no problems in CM and that Anderson/Cleverley/Gibson can replace Scholes then so be it. However lets stick to our guns and say so rather then engage in transfers that we've got little to no hope in getting and then come out with the usual no value BS.

Anyway one piece of advice from someone whose been in the forum for donkey years and had seen it all. Don't take it too seriously.

What exactly does this mean?

What exactly does this mean?

It means that these sort of players are very difficult to sign and there is a big chance of them not coming at OT. There is nothing wrong in trying but if we don't have a plan b for them then we are either happy with the midfield we've got or else we're not taking this problem seriously.

You do realize there's 48 days to go in this transfer window. Loads of things can still happen. You watch Italian football a lot right, surely you must know better than all of us that how much these Italian President lie.

Tough as feck to sign - to hazard a guess...

You get the impression big game players are afraid to come here. Maybe the expectations are too high for them, dont want to replace iconic figures such as Scholes, Dong & Ronaldo, the Manager's Hair-drier is too scary, Manchester Weather, Tevez lives there - he scares people, they dont like Boddingtons, the hookers go straight to the tabloids, a blow-job costs less in mainland Europe, dont like eating food out of a newspaper...

One day.... one fecking day we'll nail this....

INTER League - "Ferguson has identified the player Sneijder capable of making the leap to United, but I do not know what can go in there with the offer." And 'This is the thought of Frederick Zancan, journalist Sky English football expert, who spoke today with ilsussidiario.net transaction that could lead away from the Dutch Pinetina. "Certainly, Ferguson wants the Dutchman to strengthen their midfield, a department that has lost Scholes and Giggs that have a given age, is now only a half service" continues Zancan, which, however, says he believes the rumors circulating recently about Figures published by the alleged Reds. "United have already spent a lot in this market, took the goalkeeper De Gea, defender Phil Jones and striker Ashley Young dall'Aston Villa, but Ferguson still wants to score another hit."

The name of the individual identified is just to Sneijder, Arsene Wenger's own admission, is definitely on the top of the list of preferences than Nasri, Arsenal talent. "But the 35 million mentioned seem to me far too long: I would say that the most of the United may go up to 25" Zancan emphasizes, however, that providing this in the long negotiations hear more. The journalist also spoke on the purchase of Ricardo Alvarez, who many have considered a signal of safe start of Sneijder. "I do not think that Alvarez is the replacement for the Dutchman but it certainly is a player who is best suited to tactical form of Gasperini. The Argentine, in fact, can play outside in the trio, in which role Sneijder would be a bit 'sacrificed'.

CALCIOMERCATO/ Inter, Zancan: United su Sneijder, ma l'offerta è solo di 25 milioni! (esclusiva)

Last couple of years we've had Scholes and I'd say SAF thought Hargreaves would recover, so in that time he's allowed for youth such as Anderson/Gibson to develop but, now he must replace with names such as the ones being touted.

I don't think he's happy with what we have unless suddenly Anderson shows a vast improvement in pre-season and as such he'll look to buy a CM with some pedigree.

We've know the possibility was coming but, had he bought the type of player he is considering now - that player may have had to sit out a lot or even players he wanted to give a chance to grow wouldn't have got it.

Don't think we'll rush it but, after a couple pre-season games, SAF may finally decide it's time to pull the trigger when he sees us with a CM choices of Carrick, Ando and Giggs only.

Pah, every time someone official from Inter speaks about Sneijder, they mention how 'long' the transfer window is: "He's definitely not for sale! But...there's another 40-plus days to go...." *winks*

I agree and Inter are masters on that. On the other hand one must also consider that SAF tend to like sign his players early. Not to forget that Im not really keen on getting players who aren't really thrilled to sign with us (Sneijder)

I stand to what I said, if we don't have a plan B to these nearly impossible signings then we either don't see the need of adding new players to this position or else we're not taking this seriously.

I think this forum should be closed when the transfer window isn't open personally. Nobody gives a shit, concentrate on the football.

Considering the hive of activity that is the transfer forums then your obviously wrong. Transfers are a part of football, you don't like it stay out of the transfer forum.

i prefer this forum outside the transfer window tbh. its less about muppet dreams and more about emerging talent and the post quality seems to be higher.

Remember the last player we bought for big bucks from Seria A to provide our midfield with that stroke of genius and was of 'proven' quality? didn't work out too well that one.

serious question: who was the last player to come from the Italian league to the Premier league, that could be considered a success? ... my guess is Henry

Thing is, Veron was brought to a midfield which was already strong (it's our style that was lacking in europe) and had the likes of Keane and Scholes. It's so different right now.

"If we can get a player along similar lines [to Paul Scholes] in terms of the quality of his passing and vision, then yes we'd have to do something," Ferguson stated.

I must have missed this quote from the press conference yesterday. Confirmed he said this?
