Wesley Sneijder

This part:
''Sneijder is the only realistic option, despite his age, which would leave United with little re-sale value. Palermo’s Javier Pastore would offer a younger option, but Inter have already identified the Argentine as Sneijder’s potential replacement. ''

Made me laugh. If we were really looking in Pastore's direction why would Inter's interest deter us? Afterall, the kid would suit us more with his age and resale value etc.

Juan Sebastian Veron was pure class! Hit the ball like Beckham and had a great vision. Would fit in perfectly in this seasons squad. A shame he have such a bad reputation among the younger posters.

We had 2 players who wanted to control the game - and Keane suited our style of play more than Veron.

Haha what was that journalist thinking? Twisted logic or what? United want to buy Sneijder or Pastore but we can't get Pastore because Inter want him to replace Sneijder when we buy him....

So pastore isn't an option for u because we want sneijder. Hmmm.

I really question his hunger an desire. To me, he looks to like the glamour life too much, and why wouldn't he? He has won everything on club level, he lives in Milan, lots of money and fame and married to a woman thirsty for success. This man is trying to do a David Beckham. Somebody Ferguson hates having at his club: a troublemaker.

Apart from that, it looks like Sneijder isn't really keen on signing for United. He will probably think: why move to rainy Manchester (a new environment I have to prove myself again) and earn less, when I can stay in Milan where I'm worshiped and earn lots of money?"

If he does sign for United, I expect him to deliver many below-par performances: his style is not suited for United's set-up. For sure he won't ever reach his treble season performances again,

So much BS in there you have just pulled from your ass. It's all opinionated blurb which has no foundation.

Great insight... Let's make you incharge of transfers...:wenger:

Based on interviews, pictures, and other media sources. Indeed based on observation, but also intuition. Nothing wrong with wanting low-profile players instead of glamour seeking players.

Beckham is a "glamour seeking" player but everybody would've had him back in a heartbeat. I don't care about whether they like to appear in magazine etc, as long as they give 100% for United and remain committed to being a top player. You're just as likely to have problems with a younger player who suddenly thinks he's made by arriving at United and stops improving. Sneijder is regarded as a World Class player, I can't see him giving up that mantle easily.

So you are ignoring the fact that Ferguson puts character and personality on the same level of priority as technical ability?

If Ferguson is after him it's because he thinks he still has the drive to become WPOTY and win everything again. And again.

The 35 million pound fee being mentioned for a 27 year old scares me to be honest. I think theres a good chance he might take a year or more to get used to the English game in which case were left a year or two of his best form. I'd rather us get two younger players who would cost less. Maybe one playmaker and one more physically imposing one.

Are the lads back in training yet?

Why is everyone so concerned about the 35 million valuation of the player?

In a world where Stewart Downing is sold for £20 million, £35 million for world class player like Sneijder is good business in my book.

Who cares about sell on value. 5-6 years of top quality football from the lad makes it worth it in my book.

The trouble with this is which two young players could you pick up for a combined £35 million that would be ready to walk straight into our midfield and begin dictating the play?

For instant impact you've got to look at the Sneijders and Nasris of the game.

I've never seen any story about him causing trouble? Yeah, he obviously likes the celebrity life but he's hardly a Joey Barton is he? Look at players like Rio, Nani, Anderson and Rooney... SAF sure hates those fame-hungry "trouble makers" doesn't he?!?

Perhaps because he's a professional footballer and wants to prove himself at the highest level? He was good at Ajax, then didn't make it at Real. Inter, as good as they were a couple seasons ago, are a decent side in a very poor league. Excelling at United, in the Premiership, would be a big step up. A bigger one than I think many people are giving us, and the Premiership, credit for.

I've not got the stats to hand but I'm fairly sure that he was as good last season as he was in the treble season, certainly from an appearance, goals and assists perspective. Nothing's said of it because Inter had an average season, only winning the Copa Italia.

Sorry but that's nonsense. Your opinion based on newspapers, which we all know print nothing but the truth.
If fervid wants him, nothing will be left to chance. He will have reports from numerous sources regarding the players personality and workrate.
You have made your opinion quite clear now in this thread that you don't like sneijder buy it's not convincing anyone so maybe you should read only on this topic

i have a feeling that until the transfer window closes, the united-sneijder stories will continue to dominate the british media. On the other hand the italian media, will continue to give us stories about how much wesley is happy in milan, until man city enter the race....

unless sneijder makes a move and ask to be transferred to a specific club, expect this story to go on till the last day of the transfer window.

Well, the Dutch press isn't as vile as the British press. Just stay away from tabloids like the Dutch The Sun and you're fine. I've seen and read quotes. Sneijder and his wife give interviews like every darn week and they're not football-related. You can't miss them if you're in Holland. It's even worse now, but I understand as it's off season. It seems the English press are picking up these stories as well now.

I'm sorry you and the majority of the people here don't like to read my opinion. I just want to temper the excitement here on the boards and warn people. No doubt he's a good player, I never said he isn't a good player, but I do question his lifestyle. A player like Sneijder doesn't belong here, at United.

And until then the eternal optimists here will keep believing that he will indeed join us. There will be lots of disappointed posters here on September 1.

lets face it guys he"s not coming,he"s a glamour puss downtown manchester is not for him,he"s not hungry enough.

And until then the eternal pessimists who don't have a clue any more than the eternal optimists here but like to think they are right anyway will keep believing that he will indeed not sign for us. There could possibly be a lot of posters eating their words here on September 1.

At least the transfer muppet is open to both possibilities.

loves Meelan/doesn't want to come enough

celeb wannabee wife

no thanks

So basically, he said he loves the city he's in which of course he would say, he's not going to say 'Milan is shit, sorry fans I'm going to leave because your town is wank.'

And he has a celeb wannabe wife like almost every other player in the world does including the ones at United.

And that's 'no thanks?'

Well, the pessimists at least have some basis for their opinion: the denial of all parties concerned. Basically everyone who is in any position to know anything denied that a transfer will happen, only the papers are still fueling the rumours.

I'd love Sneijder to come here but I just can't see it happening.
