Hello Mods!

I am not able to access this website quite a few times nowadays and especially during matchdays. Is there any way members could be given a priority of some sought?

For example, on match days, could you do something like guests can view the forums only if they sign in or sign up? Just on match days because that is the day I cannot access the website for almost an hour and a half after the game.

I mean members are trying to view the website and post and they can't access it but guests who just want to read what we post are able to access it. When I checked the website count, I saw that there were only 600 members while there were 3000+ guests.

Guys to be honest, this question has been done a million times. The hardware is running at capacity at the moment so we're going to have to live with it for now

Sorry

Edit: GB got there first

Burndogg, I think you need to infract golden_blunder for copying your post and posting it before you.

Right I get that the site is running at capacity, but I just wanted to understand:

When someone logs onto the website it says it is 'full up' mostly but occasionally it will let you in, but when you change a page it says it is full up again.

Is anyone actually able to post at this time or is it impossible to post because too many people are viewing, or is it just pot luck whether you can post or not?

I think it is daft that we let all the vultures come in post match (when United lose) and the real members can't post for a good while due to it.

Makes no sense.

it makes perfect sense. Some of those vultures click on the ads and make a few pennies for keeping the current h/w going

That anyone clicks on the ads

I do, I am in the process of buying a computer and all the online shops I have visited keep popping up with great offers.
Again, can Golden blunder or Neil tell us how much it will cost to upgrade big time? Lets talk.

I don't, I simply have access to common sense and the databank of the Lawnmower Man

Well Niall has said before that he gets a lot of ad revenue from guests on matchdays. Weaste has confirmed this before regarding his time when he was an admin and the last time he tried to block guests on matchday. Geebs just mentioned it today. They're certainly closer to the situation than any of us with our Lawnmower Man databank are.

Niall has mentioned it several times and lets face it, he's in the position where he knows where any income comes from.

So, unless someone wants to stump at 4k-7k for a decent new server, you'll just have to live with the fact that its busy on matchdays in particular

if all the regulars stumped up £10 bang, new server

there are regualar donators, generally i send £10 -£20 every few months when i can afford it

Same as that but a one off "Get The Caf A New Server Fund"

If some newbs donate give them automatic promotion... etc, shite that that

easy

So loyal regulars are being shut out on match days to accommodate day-trippers for the sake of revenue? If anyone needs me I'll be at FCRedCafe.net.

I am actively working on getting the performance sorted but it takes time. So please be patient, things will be improving in the near future. "The night is always darkest before the dawn" ;)

I'll offer the £60 I won from Gillespie towards a new server... ;)

Guru Meditation? Wasn't that an old Commodore error?

Guru Meditation? Wasn't that an old Commodore error?

To try and boost performance, we've added a Commodore Amiga that I had stashed away in my attic. Details of that error are here - Guru Meditation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The improvement on matchdays should be very noticeable ;)

Seriously though, that was an expected error but if it crops up again please let me know.

Also, in general, if people see any odd behaviour on the site in the next couple of days (e.g. new posts not appearing straight away) please let me know. Shouldn't happen but I need to know if it does. Thanks :)

They may well have been down to services being restarted, but let me know if you see it again. Sorry for the hassle, it'll all be worth in the end hopefully :)

All right officers take Niall into custody! I am Niall!
