We will sign 7 players minimum this Summer

From the Daily Mail today. Looks far too offensive but if anyone can make it work
I don't think even £200 million would be enough to prise those 6 away from their clubs.

Let's say £60m for Cavani, £30m for Shaw, £35m for Carvalho, £35-40m for Kroos.. that's already £150m without wages lol there is no way we'll bring in all those listed.

We won't spend all that money on forwards when we're desperate to strengthen midfield and the back 4. I an see us buying 4, 5 or even 6 players this summer, just not forwards unless it's someone like Muller who's very versatile or a really good goalscoring winger.

Even if we can get Cavani he just isn't worth that. And after one or two good seasons with Napoli he's been very overrated. Plus he's 27. We should be investing in good young players. And Kroos will be a tough one to get as well.

The problem is that we have many areas that need strengthening now, not just our midfield. Our midfield is so dire that we probably need 2 major signings rather than one. Left back, centre back and two midfielders is a must. Preferably a left winger and a back up for Rafael but I see that as a bonus at this stage. No offence to Cavani, but he can stay where he is.

I can't believe the Cavani rumours are still going. That is what worries me the most out of it all.
5 players is what we need. Any more would be a bonus. I think we will wrap up maybe 2/3 players before the world cup, to ease the pressure once the world cup ends.

Shaw, Carvalho and Garay are all potential players that are obtainable, in reach, and wouldn't have many stumbling blocks. These could easily be completed before the world cup starts.
That leaves a more creative minded cm (kroos / fabregas, rakitic), and a LW (Reus, grizemann) for after the world cup.

All the names mentioned are just targets that I'd like to see.
As for Cavani, it would only work if we got rid of Rooney and or RVP

Reus,Carvalho,Kroos,Hummels,Shaw and Fabregas in..
Rio,Vida,Young,Nani,Evra,Anderson,Carrick and Hernandez out..

In 170m
Out 50m ish...

Holy shit FM manager overload!

Can't see Dortmund letting both Hummels and Reus go, with Lewandowski already moving. Maybe if we offered them Kagawa. Kroos? Won't be easy either. And don't Arsenal have first refusal on Fabregas? Your 'Out' figures are also a bit optimistic.

Strootman, Carvalho, Shaw, Hummels, Draxler....but for sure there will be lots of surprises and hopefully some unheard of dutch talents

I don't think we have much hope of getting Fabregas, Reus, Kroos (unless Pep doesn't want him), Muller, Robben,

Every year 90% of the forum reckons we'll get the Ronaldos and the Bales in the summer and we haven't been able to sign a decent central midfielder in about 5 or 6 years......Last summer the names that were constantly being mentioned for central midfield that we should be able to sign were handy enough were Fabregas, Modric, Vidal, Gundogan, Cabaye, Barkely, Pogba, Pjanic, Rakitic...but instead we ended up with the bloke with the mop

But with sales......haha

Waste of money for Cavani especially with so many poor crosses wingers we have. We can use Welbeck as a same role as Muller. We still have Adnan Januzaj as well. By the way the formation should be 433 because that's what Van Gaal prefers. Daily Mail made something up without knowing anything.

With any luck we'll only have Januzaj left out of those five.

I have to say I agree. Central defender and midfielder priority, but the wide positions need freshening up. Guess some of it depends on the system the new manager employs.

This video has probably been posted elsewhere, but Van Gaal talks a little about his philosophy of team building.
He thinks first in terms of his system, then he looks at individuals that will work for his system.

He basically says he always plays 4-3-3.
So, aside from quality defensive candidates like Shaw and Hummels, it's very hard to predict what he'll do, say, in midfield and attack.
It'll be interesting to see what he does, he's certainly very confident in his own ideas.

Guess it is obvious that we need many players now. Some sold, some retiering etc.
My predictions are:
new defenders: Alaba, Shaw, Hummels, Varane, Lahm. (Leaving: Vidic, Rio, Evra, Büttne?, also sold: Evans, Smalling).
new midtfielders: Kroos, Fabregas, Iniesta, Modric, Vidal. (Leaving: Nani, Young, Valencia, Fellaini, Cleverly, Carrick?, Fletcher++)
new attackers: Ronaldo, Messi, Hazard, Cavani, Zlatan, Reus, Müller, Costa.

So now we have the best team in the world, pretty much. Might be expensive, but it will be worth it!

At the rate we are being linked with people, this is going to be our front six next season:

Cavani

Reus-----Kroos-----Muller

Fabregas-----Carvalho

I'm surprised how many people are overlooking right back as a position we need to strengthen. We're desperate for cover there to stop these ludicrous Smalling/ Jones/ Valencia RB appearances.

Do people expect to see someone like Varela called up as back up?

For me we need at least 6 new players:

Cover at RB
A Left back
A world class CB at the peak of his career
2 CMs ( at least one world class & another promising young player I,e Barkley)
1 quality winger ( at the very least)

Anything more than 1 first choice left back and 2 first choice central midfielders is a bonus as I see it. Don't see us getting more than 5 first team players.

For those of you who has not yet understood my post, it was ment as a sort of satire:/
