We will never win the league with De Gea in goal | Prophecy fulfilled

Is this a p**s take!! Is it the fact that he makes too many saves thats troubling you? But that is the price you pay when you have the best keeper in the world. Forget all this crap talk of having wannabe footballers playing in goal, its stopping the concession of goals that is the predominant factor in winning Leagues. If anyone at Man Utd are not happy about that I’m sure Klopp would happily swap ‘good old Migs’ and then I can personally guarantee you that you ‘will never win the league’

Now that you mentioned it, there was a "super blue moon" last night.....

In no time, people round here are also going to start blaming it, for what happened yesterday....
:D
Someone at work told me this morning and I told him to feck off with his City talk. It's just a lump of rock orbiting the planet it has nothing what so ever to do with football.

No.

Migs is not bad, but not sure De Gea would accept rotation with Karius. He seems to me like he would only settle for a guaranteed starter. Spanish primadonna.

MIgs is an apaulingly bad goalkeeper who has personally cost us a number of points each season. De Gea, like Schmiechel, earns you points. One wins you leagues, the other ensures that you dont.

You've been a little bit harsh on Migsi. The reflexes of a cat and the speed of a mongoose.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

you obviously have not been in the "Jose Mourinho's seven-point plan for winning big games" thread.

Here are a couple of the more illuminating points around having possession of the football:

6) Whoever has the ball has fear.

7) Whoever does not have it is thereby stronger.

There are actually people discussing it and the merits of that approach. As if it's actually real...

As I said in that thread it just goes to show some are so zealous in believing anything negative they can about Mourinho or push a hate agenda that they will cling on or makeup out and out garbage in a desperate attempt to get people on side.

And those who genuinely believe it without a preconceived agenda are just thick.

So we are playing baseball now. I can see it Mancester United vs New York Yankees in World Series 2022

Who are we kidding? Let’s be honest here for a second as no one really wants to talk about it (.....and don’t bother bringing up 2012-13, we were so above and beyond every other team that year Mignolet could’ve been our starter for all I care. Rather obvious Dave was average at best and was carried by the superb team in front of him so that’s that...)

De Gea is a showboat goalkeeper. He’s almost never in position as evident by majority of his saves where he’s dancing and diving to get a touch on the ball. You can tell he just loves the attention from such a careless style of play which he knowingly has chosen; honestly speaking it’s unwarranted and selfish on his part as it puts the team in a disadvantageous position.

If he were in position from the get go, wouldn’t he make ordinary saves as the rest of the goalies do? Think about it, pretty common sense stuff and self explanatory. It’s not a coincidence he’s the only goalie out there jumping around like a monkey. Not that complicated of a position but he sure makes it look like it.

Overrated and not to mention he keeps demanding higher and higher wages every other year it seems by using Madrid as a scare tactic while holding the club hostage. If it were up to me, let him go, take the money, and get a proper goalie who can make the saves when it matters most and one who can do so with ease and not have to exaggerate every little movement.

What exactly has he done since SAF left? Nothing. Just about every loss, he lets in 1 too many goals and just can’t get it done - as such, has been exposed. Not so easy without Sir Alex and those great United sides that compensated for his poor goaltending now is it? Could very well be ahead of City but DDG just doesn’t come through in the clutch when you need him most. I mean liked mentioned earlier, for starters he’s never in position to begin with so what do you expect really? Never takes responsibility either and the players always get the blame when in reality it’s Dave who leaves them vulnerable by not doing his part.

Say what you want but we’ll never win the league or CL with De Gea. Why do you think we won the EPL? Remember who started in goal? Here’s a little a hint: it’s wasn’t the ballerina dancing attention seeker. Romero is levels ahead of De Gea. And here’s some more food for thought: how has Spain done internationally since DDG has become their starter and how has Argentina done with Romero being their keeper? I’ll let you match it up but one nation/goalie reached the WC Final while the other has choked regularly since winning it and were expected to rule world football for the next decade. Coincidence? I think not...

Lol. You forgot to mention he is the reason our defense become so lax, because he stops so many shots anyway.

Yes. De Gea has affected us negatively on the pitch, but I think he causes even more damage with his off field attitude.
He never dances with boys when we score. He is never on snap chat and even when Lingard tries to include him on Instagram, he does not seem to care. That kind of attitude really hurts the team.
Look at how dedicated Arsenal players are when it comes to selfies with teammates. David can learn something.

I know this thread was made as some kind of satire or joke. However, I do think DDG has indeed deteriorated under Mourinho, especially his ball playing and distribution ability. Added to that, His poor handling of crossing and reluctance to take control of the box were responsible for us losing 4 points against Leceister and Burnley. Against Spurs he was utter garbage when he had the ball.

I can't believe people compare him to the likes of Peter Schmeichel and Edwin Van Der Sar. It's a total sinful disrespect to those two legends. Those two were million times better than DDG with their handling of crosses, command inside the box and distribution and no worse in shot stopping. DDG is just flashy, VDS never needed those flashy saves because he had brilliant positioning.

Attack starts from the GK in football, if the GK is shite with the ball then you are already handicapped. I think it's time we let DDG feck off to Madrid and sign Jan Oblak, we are better off without player who always wanted to be in Spain anyway. Since joining Jan Oblak kept like 60 odd percent clean sheets, whereas DDG keeps no more than 40% at most. I know Atletico is a defensive team which perhaps helps Oblak, but we are a defensive team too (hurts to say it, but we indeed are).

Now this I don't know if he's playing along with the thread or just doesn't think that Big Dave is as good as we all know he is. Either way

nah it wont happen.

Most appropriate username of the week.

Lol, I understand you see the funny side of it and I get that probably replacing DDG with Oblak won't happen at all.

However, I have genuine questions for you guys. Do you honestly believe DDG has not deteriorated in terms of distribution and control inside the box since Frans Hoek left the club? Has he truly been world class in terms of those aspects of a GK's job? Do you genuinely think he is good enough to be compared with Schmeichel and VDS? Is DDG really better than Oblak at all anymore?

this still open for replies? wow.

Of course it's still open. We're fickle football fans, each with varying opinions that change over the course of time. We need a healthy 24 hr reflection period with which to ponder our previous opinion (De God or De Shite?) and adjust accordingly.

For instance yesterday I thought De Gea was shite, today I believe he is simply mediocre. No longer sackable, rather dropped for a few games. Given time to reflect on his disgraceful performance against spurs - conceding within 10 seconds, giving our defenders a false sence of security and subsequently creating a mental block in the process, plus the fact that he has never scored a goal in 300 appearances for the club - he will get back to being above average again.

But tomorrow is another day so who knows.

VDS had a one of the EPL GOAT defense in front of him. Petr had worse games than DDG.
Oblak himself has many howlers in his names.
DDG is miles ahead of any goalkeeper present today not named Neuer.

He's made 85 saves in the league so far this year, the second most. while conceding only 18. Those are incredible stats. It underlines the fact that he is the best keeper in the world IMO.
(Edited to reflect the fact that I am not actually humble.) ;)

It rules out the idea that we have got a good defence the truth is that they are being bailed out by DDG almost every week (3.4 times every week to be exact). So yes Oblak plays in a defensive side but DDG plays in a side that averages 4.1 shots on target against every game and he concedes 0.72 goals a game. What a player.

Have you folks seen his performance so far at the World Cup!?! :wenger:

We may need to call up Real before his value plummets! Bite dammit

Maybe it is a Real Madrid conspiracy to get the price dropped. Ronaldo was somehow involved I think.

Yes because a GK shouldn't be in the goal, He must be outside of the goal to prevent the ball from getting in. He's not getting paid to play around with the net, fecking De Donut.

If you eat a tree branch with marmite, it tastes like Twiggies

I've been saying this for a while. If we cash in now we should be able to get 20m+ for him. We can sign Buffon and then use the rest of the money to bring in a new left winger. I was watching the Spain vs Iran game yesterday and Ramin looked good. Maybe he'll be a good acquisition.

You people forget the hair. That is no doubt bad for his image and decreasing his value.

No need for buffon. We can get Karius from Liverpool. We will get some cash for that too and can reinvest that for Joey Barton.

I'm finding it difficult to understand whether or not people are serious.
