Because as I mentioned the context is completely different. Maradona scored one of the most amazing legit goals and settled the game. No other winner relied on shadiness throughout the tournament. Context is completely differnet. Honestly have no idea why you are taking this so personally and getting so chippy about it. I would have expected all these critiques if I had picked Meazza.

Anyway moving on, why you are playing Stabile in front of Ronaldo?
Or why play Stabile over Rivaldo?
Rivaldo-Ronaldo is a proven combo (albeit slightly tricky with the different tournaments)

Rivaldo-Ronaldo-Meazza would seem more obvious no?

Why do you think Stabile is better?

Rivaldo had 5 goals in 2002 and was amazing IMO.

No i didnt expect it because i care only about football and dont care about politics and conspiracy theories. Cheating is cheating no matter when you cheat and what and how you did before or after it. If you dismiss Meazza because of cheating then be man enough to dismiss every cheater out there. That means france 98 squad, Maradona and his argies squad, england from 66 and so on.....its pointless isnt it?

It's usually ignored but Maradona scored that most amazing legit goal against England almost instantly after the hand of god goal. The English players were visibly shell-shocked and still nowhere near ready to continue after the obvious injustice of the first goal. Both goals are connected and nothing in that game hinted at Maradona being capable of dribbling past all the English players with ease like he did minutes after the first goal.

No one cares anymore though or barely anyone. Maradona has become a myth and the English players are laughed at for looking helpless.

I personally think it shouldn't detract from Maradona's greatness because if you watched him play, his performances clearly lived up to the hype. But it was shady as feck what happened in those 3-4 minutes in that quarterfinal against England. And yes, it includes that famous 2nd goal.

Because i watched Rivaldo and he wasnt that good and on paper(which is all we have for Stabile) Stabile looks like he had a immense World Cup. Ronaldo from 98 cant be your main striker, you need to give him full freedom to roam and having a main goalscorer next to him would benefit both him and the team.

First I never "dismissed" Meazza, you are taking my legitimate critique too far.
Second I don't agree that the context of all those things are even remotely similar.

Cafu played in 2006 aswell, but in that case I would have put Gentile at right back in a back 4.

he could have played Cafu06 or more likely Gentile at RB

I am sorry if I am offending people but I just don't like Sjor's side not just Meazza (nothing personal at all, I think Sjor is a great poster despite the "bonner" comment).

I would have prefered Coluna in midfield and definitely Rivaldo over Stabile with Ronaldo there.

I think some variation of 433 would have been a much stronger tactic (and thats giving Sjor absolute 100% benefit of the doubt on Meazza - Meazza doesn't change my impression of the match even if I give Sjor benefit)

Think i could get away with both Cafu 94 and 06 but there was no need as i honestly didnt want Rivaldo 02 in the team with Fenomeno 98.

Garrincha doesn't seem to be getting much love here from the discussion. 1962 Garrincha is only topped by 86 Maradona in WC stakes. I think he's the best player on the pitch and Krol doesn't have much of a chance against him.

He is up against Krol and Maldini, the two best defensive left backs ever. Garrincha's impact will certainly be limited to an extent.

Thats true in general but talking only in world cup form, Krol 74 was not at all a defensive left back, he was very attacking from what I've seen. Garrincha 62 is just a force of nature and only player who compares to him in World cup impact in my opinion is Matthaus 90 who is also on the same team.

Yes he was offensive but he was fantastic defensive wise and thats why he is seen as one of the best leftbacks in World Cup history.....there is a reason why Holland conceded just 3 goals in the whole tournament. That side while being spectacular on the ball was also spectacular off the ball, it maybe looked like a chaos at times but it was an organized chaos and to pull it off at the highest order it takes something special. Discipline, decision making and overall tactical awareness of the players was on incredible level and Krol was one of the leaders in that team.
If he was alone against Garrincha id agree with Charly but with Maldini covering i dont know what someone has to do to stop him....compare that to Fenomeno on the other side and the difference is night and day.
 
A lot has been said about my attack but to be able to win you have to be able to score against this lot. Not only they are perfect tactical fits for each other, not only do they have great individual ability but their WC credentials are among the best you can ask for.

Even if my attack is dysfunctional how some said id bet a fair sum they would score more during the course of 10 games on pure individual ability of Fenomeno, cheating expertise of Meazza and goalscoring prowess of Stabile against a side without a proper DM with Santamaria at CB who conceded 9 goals in the tournament.

Congratulations @Šjor Bepo I was really hoping I could avoid you and @Tuppet, and with a few reinforcements get a bit further.

You dropped the ball a bit with that front three this game , but you have a good base, all the best for the rest of the draft.

Honestly it wasn’t pre-meditated (what have I got against you)

I based my change off the discussion and I decided that I just couldn’t see your side scoring. Krol and Maldini is as close to perfection as you get in terms of stopping garrincha and I didn’t see Vava or Stoichkov making the difference. Going the other way (and after much debate about Meazza) I ended up of the opinion that his performances should be taken for what they were. If corruption was afoot at that WC, then I can’t imagine all of Italy’s opponents just let it happen and likely raised their game, so Meazza performing as he did still has lot of merit.

When it came down to it, I saw this is a 1-0 game for Sjor. Nothing malicious at all, I would have changed my vote much sooner but didn’t get the chance to until morning where I am.
 
You were posting 1hr before the deadline mate, I’m sure you haven’t got anything personal against me but you’re just the type of guy who likes a bit of attention and stoke up some controversy.

By much sooner I meant last night.

It wasn’t a last minute change either, if I wanted attention or to stir up controversy I’d have done it a minute before the deadline.
