Played well today, albeit it was against a very ordinary team, wasn't particularly great against Arsenal even though the British media trying to hype it up all over again.

He's not Ronaldo or Messi so he's obviously not going to do it every game but he's a very productive player stats wise. 3 goals and 8 assists this season despite being rubbish for a good while and not being a starter for over a month.

He's very productive if you take his career as a whole into account. Much less so over the last two seasons. I take issue with "He always contributes" because it's just not true and like I said he often contributes to us being less effective going forward than we should be. Certainly you'd expect players even out of form to pop in a goal or an assist every so often, so no special praise from me there. Anyway, he did well today and my original post that you nitpicked on was just saying that I hope he can keep it up so that he is at least contributing at an acceptable level.

He always contributes. It's just his overall play that has also improved in the last 5-6 games.

You never disappoint

This forum and Rooney is just unbelievable. Rooney continues his good form off late and has a wonderful game today and it's good because he's sellable?!
He's been dog shite for the better part of three years. A couple of good games don't change that. I hope he plays well and then moves on in January.

Does he start now? Good against Swansea by all accounts, good when he came on against Arsenal and good again tonight

Certainly more deserving a place than Rashford and Martial

The spell on the bench has probably made him realize he is not special anymore and he must work as hard as the others to earn his playing time. It's slowly paying off as his performances are better and better. I'm happy with him.

I thought he was quiet in parts but he came up with actual quality when it mattered, encouraging, we should hope he still has enough left in the tank that he can give us a few more of these type of games.

Rubbish for a good while being the operative clause there. He is paid like them and says he has nothing to prove. Today he played like he had something to prove. Good for him,but he needs to show consistency and that he has struggled with for a long time

Wayne Rooney appreciation post.

The Cafe needs to get behind our boy...

He is Man Utd.

The last of a dying breed.

Great performance tonight, lad.

F the haters.

Liked his post match interviewe. Contained maybe the most random line you'll ever hear in that situation.

"I never stepped foot in the weeding."

He also put the interview in his place for bringing it up again. Along with a good performance the best night he's had for quite some time I'd imagine.

Next step for Rooney is to do it against a team that isn't awful.

It was between Micky and Rooney tonight for MOTM today and thought he just nicked it on the basis of productivity. Needs to be putting performances like this in on a,regular basis.

Quality goal and assist tonight, the weakest technically and mobility wise of the 3 behind Ibra, but he was fine tonight.

So you want him to play well which means he's helping us win games and you also want us to sell him? This is the problem on here. The hatred for the player comes in the way of even the good he might do for the team. If he's playing well, why on earth would you want him gone?

Because I'm pretty dead certain he won't be able to continue playing well. Even at his best he was inconsistent. Now he is wildly so. Therefore, I hope he has a purple patch before he leaves to be remembered more fondly. No hate there

He's not going to be a regular starter anyway. Right now he's being managed well by Jose and he's doing well. Also, Rooney traditionally takes a while to get going and then does play well so he could be a good option to have off the bench or starting every once in a while. No way will he be sold anyway.

You're starting to sound a bit sad.

A good game. It feels like he's starting to get into his good form again. His touch is becoming much better than earlier. And he's affecting the game directly. Just needs to keep going like this. Am I getting excited too soon?

His passing and link up play was great. It was only feyenoord but still good for his confidence.

Looks quicker, less sluggish and with a better touch. If we manage the number of games he plays he could break the record and eventually (whenever he does) leave his head held high.

Very happy with his performance, the signs were there vs Swansea & Fener (H) games. Keep it up!

Played pretty well against an average side. His goal involved the most blatant foul I've ever seen, but the assist was class. Still not convinced he belongs in first 11. Mhiki does though.
