If I was Rooney now I would honestly be thinking about saying to the manager that I don't think i'm good enough anymore. I would be to embarrassed to continue playing that badly.

Most of the lads on here have played football to some level before.

Ever remember those games as a kid when you'd go home in the car in a right huff because you'd played shite? It used to seriously spoil my mood for a long time.

I can't believe that Rooney even enjoys playing at present. He can't be having fun. Literally every time he gets the ball he does something bad with it.

He's enjoying being the highest paid in the Premier League, unless something has changed recently.

I remember a few months back I played football for the first time in about 18 months and I was fecking useless, considering I was pretty good back in the day I couldn't do much right, miss-controlled hopelessly, I'd forgotten how to dribble, my shooting was off. After a good run I've managed to get back on track although nowhere near as good as I was.

That's what Rooney looks like right now but I probably wasn't as bad which is funny :lol:I don't understand how it's possible to be that poor as he trains every fecking day almost.

That just happened to you mate, the rest of us on this forum were great!

I agree though. He can't be enjoying it just now, he must know himself even if he won't admit it.

I'm sure he does, absolutely. But he can't be enjoying his ninety minutes on the park. I know it's professional sport and all, but you've got to enjoy it.

Well yeah, if I was to pick between sitting on the bench for 90 or having to run and embarrass myself I know what I would have picked, you're right.

Could tonight be Rooneys 'Gary Neville at West Brom 2011' moment?

Well, you know what they say. If you can't play it... post on RedCafe instead!

He's arguably the best player on the pitch and rightly deserved to play full 90 minutes. Rooney was everywhere. Haters gonna hate!

We subbed not one, but TWO strikers on at once and Rooney didn't make way for either of them.

That shows me that he has playing privileges in his contract. When I saw Fellaini warming up, I was thinking... "Right, this has to be it." but nope, he was still on the pitch. I truly believe that Jose hasn't got a say in Rooney's place on the team sheet. Just like Van Gaal didn't.

Surely that performance doesn't warrant a start against Leicester. Surely.

If that's true then as a manager I would reject the United job. No way to succeed having to play Rooney every game.

Jose really wanted the job. He has done for years. He thought by buying two of the world's best players, he could get the best out of him and it wouldn't be a big deal.

Little did he know, he can barely control a football these days and would disrupt the entire flow of play just by being in the centre of it all. Rooney isn't willing to take a "squad role" like Giggs, Scholes, Rio, etc were. Those guys were willing to sit out and do whats best for the team. Rooney truly believes he's good enough to be starting every match, and if he doesn't, he will throw his toys out of the pram again. This time, it will be for the greater good. Not only do we get him off the wage bill, we can finally move with the times and put our faith in the likes of Pogba and Rashford.

Either that or you have Phil 'breaks bones' Jones man mark him for an hour in training.

That was it, that was his chance. Jose giving him a go as the No 9 against a League 1 outfit, no excuses, ''score goals lad or you're out'' was the message. He was garbage, he won't play next game.
I would be fecking astonished if Jose picks him, fecking staggered.

You're kidding, right? Jose put him in there so he could score a few goals against a Pub side and everyone would forget about his abysmal performance against Watford.

He couldn't even do that. So now Jose is gonna look like a mug when he DOES pick him on Saturday.

This is whats gonna happen... Mourinho won't bench him and he will be sacked because of poor results/style of play. Thats why LVG got the sack. He didn't bench Rooney last season when he failed to register a single goal in 12 consecutive matches. We would have gotten top 4 if he didn't sell RVP and Hernandez to put all his faith in Rooney. Personally, I think the board and Rooney's contract had influences in that decision. But nonetheless, he went along with it and look what happened. All that sticking up for Rooney when he couldn't "break the duck" got Mr. Van Gaal absolutely nowhere.

He'll be dropped. That was his chance. Jose was giving a great chance. He didn't take it.

I've been calling Wayne Rooney shit for years, he was on the decline even when Fergie was here and so I never go into any game expecting much from him.

Even I was surprised at how bad he was tonight, I assumed he'd be average and maybe bag a goal and we'd get the Rooney is back style stories. But no, he was fecking hilariously inept. Against a mid table league 1 side, it's incredibly how bad he was.

Someone should make a compilation of his performances so far this season, it'd make for horrible/brilliant viewing.

He'll say Rooney played well. Just like the rest of the mindless sheep on Sky Sports will say. This won't change anything.

He's gone physically. Mind is willing but the body is gone. After getting criticism in the past, Rooney would be determined to prove everyone wrong and you'd get a good performance from him. But tonight just cements that his body can't keep up no more.

I used to be angry at him. Now I just feel sorry for him.

He used to give it his all for us. Now hes just a shell of a man and a footballer. Its just so sad to see. Kinda like Gary Nevilles last few days but he knew to just retire himself (cos we know Fergie out of loyalty would have continued to play him).

Sadly, hes also a coward. As Jose said before the season, its easy to come deep, under no pressure and ping the ball. but thats what he does. In fact their goal came from him, the man who should be leading our line, coming deep and losing the ball.

We will not progress with him starting.

EXACTLY!!!
I gave him 9/10 and MOTM.

If Barcelona gave us £100M for him, I'd tell them to get lost.

Laughing and joking with a player who's just scythed down his teammate makes me more inclined to get angry with him than pity him.

No better moment to drop him and begin the process. He is in woeful form.

I had a slight worry pre-game with him starting that he would score 1 or 2 like you would expect any premier league striker against 3rd league oppo and he would "have a bit of confidence back" and then start against Leicester. Player like shit again, even against Northampton, should ensure his place on the bench. Sad to see how much he's declined, as he is undoubtedly a legend, but he needs to be benched. Honestly he should probably be looking at retiring pretty soon, as he just can't cut it at any decent level with his shocking fitness levels.

You guys should be delighted he played the full 90 mins today. I don't see him starting at the weekend now and Jose has a valid excuse.
