He wants to leave because he's a cnut and can't handle that RvP is the main man - and that Welbeck Is now a preferred option to him also

I'd like Rooney to stay, but the concern for me is what happens if Moyes has the audicity to worry about the club instead of a single player and drops him to the bench for tactical or form reasons. Will we have to go through a whole ordeal because one player doesn't play a particular game?

It's a good thing we're not going to sell him. It's been a bad enough summer chasing players we can't get without losing a hugely important player like him as well.

yes...everytime he is not selected or dropped the press, fans and everyone will be talking about it and he will remain silent...it will affect the team spirit and piss the other players off.

That is the problem , nobody knows what he wants, he has not got the balls to come out and tell anybody what he really wants.

I see. Thanks for the honest answer.

It's such a disconnect. There he is living what we imagine our dream to be, but it's not doing it for him. I wonder if he ever dreams of sitting at a desk, covered in cats while writing code?

If one looks at all the things surrounding the England game and his facebook page, the most telling item for me is the whole AutoUpdate for the team line ups posts. Last season the lineups and scores of United games would automatically get posted but, at least for this and the Charity Shield there was nothing.

I've don't like how the likes of Rooney and Ferdinand have their own personal facebook pages they post on but come match day it gets taken over. Just keep it personal

David Moyes will unleash Wayne Rooney on Chelsea - to show them just what they are missing out on.

Moyes is ready to start Rooney for Manchester United against the Londoners on Monday, despite the Stamford Bridge club's desire to buy the England striker.

Chelsea are ready to test United's determination to keep the 28-year-old by making a fresh bid of around £40million on Monday night after the two championship contenders have played at Old Trafford.

The first two paragraphs are nonsense however a £40m bid on Monday would still leave a week to push that a little higher.

As for him playing against Chelsea, it isn't a leak but rather speculation stemming from this quote:

"He's got a good chance of playing against Chelsea - a good chance of starting," said Moyes

If Kagawa is sharp enough following international duty with Japan i'd sooner pick him in the starting XI.

I have to question why Wayne might be a starter, considering RVP's & Danny's braces last weekend. I hope we're not just keeping Wayne sweet.

I guess though it would be Rooney in for giggs which would make sense as we'll need rooneys greater defensive work. Would be odd though if he does play against them, can't help but feel he might not be quite as switched on even if its subconsciously.

Yeah, that's fair enough.

Let's hope he doesn't make a big show of how unhappy he is (again).

True, though if he gets two assists and we win and he looks miserable I honestly won't care. As long as he performs on the pitch and his camp stay quiet of it he can look as unhappy as he wants until we get a bid/offer that suits us. Lord knows though what'll happen if he gives a pen away or something.

Rooney still being interested in a move away, can he be relied upon to risk even an injury for United's cause right now? With but a week remaining there would be precious little recovery time for anything other than the most minor of cases.

I reckon we will sell if we get a bid from a team abroad (Madrid need a striker). It's s strange situation, I don't want him at United anymore but at the same time we would be a lot weaker if we sell him and do not sign class players.

Common sense dictates that Rooney, less than 100% fit, should not start this match. His own attitude (so clearly demonstrated last week when not celebrating the goals) dictates he can feck off.

I think the fact that he doesn't want to play for United anymore overrides all other considerations. The United fans at the Swansea game were very generous with their support for Rooney, completely unwarranted.

The selection of Rooney carries enough question marks for it to be considered the least likely outcome on Monday, however going by the matchday thread a good many would start him nonetheless.

Myself i don't think the importance of unity can be overstated at a time like this, and the additional motivator of them being rated as clear third favourites by many so-called experts can only add to the drive of the players.

Remember when Roy let rip at the standard of the team during Jose's first spell in charge? 40 games unbeaten and United written off yet Fletch turned up with his lucky protractor and a better header you couldn't ask for.

I don't think he will or should start against Chelsea. I can't see Moyes genuinely being so willing to 'give away' who's likely to be in his starting XI.

Rooney starting makes complete sense. He's a far far better option than Giggs.

Whatever happened to footballers who played for the love of the game and the club, and not who they could get the most money from? Every year football becomes less and less like the game I first fell in love with ,watching Best, Law and Charlton.
Denis Law once asked Sir Matt for more money each week and got his answer from a report on the radio saying he'd been transfer listed. He soon changed his request !

Young players probably do play for the love of the game, but I suspect like most jobs or anything in fact...things do get monotonous causing enthusiasm to wane. Which makes Fergie's thirst for success all the more remarkable. As for Rooney, he won't find that spark at United.

SteveJ and SparkyHughes have more posts in this thread than wr8. Time to have a long hard look at yourselves lads.

If the telegraph is to be believed Jose pursuit of Rooney is dead in the water ,instead he will turn his attention to Eto.

Jose thinks we should have no qualms about selling him to a rival and doesn't get why we're keeping an unhappy player.

I really really hope we don't sell to Chelsea under any circumstances. Jose has, quite typically, been a slimy disgrace with his behaviour.

I suspect were waiting for him to put in a transfer request.

I don't see the point of keeping an unhappy player... Here's a novel idea, how about we reinvest the cash generated from his sale? Suppose marketing, sponsors and all that play a part...
